Blahdy you are freaking amazing!

I'm thinking about doing some of my own BATing with Transit Networks, but I'm not sure if I really want to.

In Tampa we have this really old historic hispanic district called Ybor, its home to the most amazing Cigars and liqour Tampa has to offer, and I-4 Runs through the center of it, well the thing is, the city was tired of having this ugly interstate go through it, so they put together a very expensive idea to dress it up and make it part of the architecture of Ybor. It's beautiful, although it's not completed yet (its almost done)

Here are the renderings:

So tell me Blahdy, what's this thing's capacity? And will it transfer to a ground highway or elevated highway?

    Sincerely, Mr. Big Chin 16.gif @ simtropolis.com.

I remember in a post, I asked him the same question.  So, if I remember correctly, he's using 3dsMax 9.

when this is done, you should include renderings from all the traffic cameras.

    just 'cause.

@Bakercity- this is probably going to take a lonnnnnng time (Blahdy is quite the perfectionist if you couldn't tell already).

@ Blahdy... it looks awesome. did you hear about the tractor-trailer falling off of the Tobin ramp and onto an SUV

lrfox: yea i heard, pretty bad and sad... it fell right off of Ramp C-T and landed on top of an SUV running down ramp N-S. This is the second time accident involving ramp C-T had occurred (the curved elevated viaduct connecting I-93 NBD to Route 1A bound for Tobin Br). What's worse is that the viaduct is double stack tall (2x taller than most fly-over interchanges in MA), so falling straight down from it is basically a fatal free-fall. An NH license plated car free-falled from this ramp to ground, the driver survived but unfortunately passenger died; this happened only a week or two ago i think, on 3/18. They might want to consider placing some heavy curve/caution signage on approach to that ramp.

Yeah i heard about that one too. it was on the 18th. The last report on the one today was that the Tractor Trailer driver had to be extracted from the cab and taken to the hospital with serious injuries. the SUV driver and Passenger escaped unharmed. actually, they walked away from the accident.

Freakin' lucky SUV people! I'd have thought they'd have been crushed, but they got VERY lucky! Hope the tractor trailer guy is okay...

so actually, as it happened... The truck was merging onto I-93 SBD on ramp T-C, rolled to the left side of the ramp (apparently didn't do a thing to the concrete barriers other than slight scratches and totalled fence), ripping out a blue street light pole in the process. the light pole ripped off from ramp T-C fell on to ramp S-T below and whipped a black Sedan (passengers of the sedan were hospitalized with minor injuries as a result), then the tractor trailer plunged 50 ft, after hitting ramp S-T with the light pole, down to Leverett Connector southbound, which is ramp N-S at ground level.

so basically.. the truck hit every single ramp from top to bottom.. good thing no one died (and i hope it stays that way + get better for those hospitalized..).

Blahdy- are you sticking with mostly 93 for this project or are you going to do route 1 tunnels (leading up to the Tobin) and all of that? I'm not requesting, just curious as to how far you're taking this.

lrfox: The route 1 tunnels are included in the project (they are called CANA Tunnels, opened in 1993 through quick/ghetto construction contract), but only at the Charlestown / Zakim Bridge Interchange hand-off area. The CANA tunnels had steel gilder boxes as their tunnel portal up until ~2002 when Big Dig gave it a newly renovated tunnel portal at Charlestown Interchange side. So, the tunnel portals renovated by the Big Dig at Charlestown IC side of the CANA tunnels will be part of the project. But the other older tunnel portal built in 1993 at other side of the CANA tunnels on approach to Tobin Bridge won't be part of this project. hope this helps =)

update/FYI:  It's been confirmed that Mass. Turnpike Authority will be installing a pair of warning/caution signs ahead of the curved ramp viaducts to alert drivers as a result of two accidents above.  These signs will be included into CRCP, assuming MTA installs them quickly enough.
