Any fast 32-bit monoprocessor with 2GB of RAM, lots of hard disk (you need 4GB paging space) and pretty much any graphics card.  You also need a proper sound card, mouse, keyboard, speakers, etc.

Any new machine will probably be 64-bit dual processor.  There are work arounds if necessary, which can be found in this list.

Be careful with the graphic card. I have an ATI x1900xtx and the game is unplayable in hardware mode (scroll lag). Looks like this game have some issues with the newest Catalyst drivers. I'd recommend some mid range graphic card from nVidia.

How about a GeForce GO 7600? Right now, I have a brand-spanking-new laptop with 2GB DDR2 RAM and 120GB drive space.

If your graphics system has AA and AF settings be sure they are set to application selected.  SC4 gets confused by these.

Cutting edge won't cut it for SC4. Some single core proc with lots of memory and basic graphics and sound cards will do it. It's not a new game.

I find that a simple 1 gig of ram does just fine. The game is running smoothly for me. I think 2gb is over the top, but you decide.

OMG, i've just bought an XFX nVidia 8800gts XXX and SimCity 4 run smooth as silk (without the scroll lag of my previous ATI x1900xtx).

nVidia 8800 = 100% recommended

Just a note:  All this over clocking may cause hardware troubles, especially with memory.  Be sure you have a good memory testing program.

Why spend money with expensive hardware, when there is free software that will do the same, if not better, job ;-D

Simply download and use the BSC Plugins DatPacker. Experience it to believe it. Freely avaiable at SC4 Devotion :-D

I find that interesting because Simcity4 is a more CPU and memory intensive game than it is a GFX intensive game

I agree, it's more CPU intensive, but the scroll lag of my ATI 1900 was due to a bug.

By the way, I can't run SimCity in 32 bits in fullscreen mode 26.gif so now is 80% recommended 9.gif

Looks like the best cards to run the game are inside the "Video Cards.sgr" file.
