When I finally graduated from SC3 to SC4. I though great I will play this game right through like I have done so many other before. So after installing the program a quick call to Aspyr I found this site. Ok, I will not play the game with hints from the site but not any mods. Is this the pure life my mother was talking about? A week later I downloaded the NAM, liked it said that's ok, it's basically part of the game, I am not cheating at all. . . a week went by and like I drug addicted looking for a fix I downloaded the Road Top Mass transit by cogeo. Like some plague it became a full-fledged epidemic, PEG CDK Ferry Terminal by Pegasus, The Modern Monorail BusSubway Station by brenda_xne, The Black Hole Trash And Energy Unit by gshmails, The Industry Quadrupler V2.1 and Functional Landmarks Complete Set V1.0 by Toroca I stopped myself, got out of my coma and thought, Was this really what I was thinking when I purchased the game? So I have made myself a new rule to break for myself, I'll never plop RCI, I will attract every sims by what the cities are. But how much have you modded your SC4?

In my oppinion simcitie games are for you to make the citys of your dreams. I have not modified my game untill recently, but now its so much more fun. Simcity 4 gameplay was holding the player back, Like to short commute times, and abandonment appearing way to easy. So you get a mod to fix these little problems. Everything else in the game works fine. All my other downloads are to make the game look better, and create diversity in the games structures. But thats just my style, I hope this helped.

Hawkeye,

I responded "Dear God...", but my vote would actually fall somewhere between there and "minimal". I have several mods and quite a few buildings, but though it's more than minimal, it's nowhere near the amount I've seen some people use. My plug-in folder, mods and buildings is somewhere around 600mb. Many of them I've never or rarely used, or I've used one piece of a set where I've had to download the entire set for one piece.

Yeah, I'm also somewhere between "minimal" and "omg*****bbq". There are mods I just can't bear to remove, and some which I've added to experiment with, and since forgotten about. Occasionally I'll go through my plugins folder and prune the old stuff out, but I end up removing less than I put in each time D:

There's about 500Mb of stuff in there, which isn't too bad really. I've heard about people with over 2Gb of plugins though... *mindsplode*

anyway...I'm somewhere in between the "Dear God!" part and a part above it called "omg! I didn't know I still have those! "

I put in just enough to create the atmosphere I want.  Plus I have many different plugin sets so they switch around.  But basically, Simcity have been completely rewritten thanks to the modding from Simtrop.

I used to be like "Dear God!" But I recently rebuilt my plugins, and cut it by about 30%, so now I more or less have just enough to personalize.

I am moderate at around 700MB. I mostly DL growable lots to give my cities a more randomized realistic effect. I like to have lots of different architecture styles in my cities. my BATing skills are non existant so i must depend on others to make stuff or me. I have made my own lots for parks and decorating effects which I released on the STEX with decent approval.

I think custom content is almost needed if you want a pretty eye candy city though.

Well, I have 100MB of plugins, carefully selected as needed.  I also BAT to create things I need but will never publish since they are usually some kind of cheat.

Great responses, I though their would be far more people who only have the NAM and such, but I guess I am not alone when I have modded the hell out of my game, and I have only been playing since Sept 06. . . . EDIT: I don't feel weak, or not any more, I just though it was a funny topic title to grab a little attention.

I definitely belong to the "modded the hell out of my game" category, though I guess I can say that I did so in a very non-cheaty way.

My second plugins folder was ~1 gig, growable RCI only, no cheats, all stats checked and brought in line with Maxis stuff.

Now I'm going one step further by modding all items one by one - I fix bad or inappropriate lot designs, change occupant numbers by plopping the buildings next to Maxis buildings and other stuff (thanks to that DLL Buggi brought us) and make sure only top-quality, non-cheaty stuff is in my plugins. My goal is to limit my plugins folder to ~600 - 700 MB, to increase overall quality, and to make sure that no hidden cheat is among these plugins. I also translate all stuff (including goofy query messages) into my native language.

In case of ploppable stuff, I make new icons and arrange them in the menus so that different sets don't get mixed.

First tests turned out very impressive. Six or eight more weeks, and I might have a good plugins assortment which allows for much more variation in terms of RCI growables and civic buildings, but without exaggerated stats or cheat-like behaviour.

The cheatiest stuff I do is to include the industrial jobs quadrupler and to adapt all my industrial BATs to the quadrupled numbers.

I leave it up to you whether you call that weak or not - I call it SimCity 4.5, that's it. 2.gif

i'm at right around 2 GB in plugins. Trying to clean them up, find textures and props for some, and take out the broken ones, but it is a monumental task.

As far as game play mods, I only have two (excluding the NAM). They are the Industry Quadrupler and some mod the cuts back abandment by changing the desirabilty threshold. The overall gameplay, however, is still very much similar to default Rush Hour play, except that now I no longer need a whole large city packed with high density industry to provide sufficient jobs.

Just one question, is there a lesser version of the Industry Quadrupler available, like an Industry Doubler, or Tripler.
