Calgary Project

Many cities have projects of their own, and i think it's time that calgary got one too. Here are a few reasons why i think so. 

1) we are one of the fastest growing cities in canada.

2) we have a lot of different syles of buildings from each of out boom years

3) we have alot of interesting projects being built or planned.

So some ideas of buildings that should be included are:

- Old and New city hall
- The calgary tower
- Stampede Park
- Talisman Center
- Bankers Hall
- PetroCanada Center
- EnCener (planned)
- Arivia 1-3

I would take on this project myself, but i don't have the skills at BATing or the Time to make it happen. What do you think, Is it worth getting a team together for?

The same line is used repeatedly, "I'd so it  myself but don't understand the bat."..maybe that's what they should rename the req. thread.

But it doesn't let me onto the offical BAT request thread not matter the link i try. Anyways this is more then just a small request, its a larger scale project with several if not dozens of buildings.

heheh, then it's a big request!

The reason people are saying this is a request, is because your plan is to basicly get together a group of other people to do a bunch of projects you'd like (requests) for you.  Yeah, they need to join the team and want to make the buildings, but that's true for all requests.

If you'd like to learn how to BAT, send me a private message and I can tutor you and stuff.

A new official BAT request thread has been made, but it hasn't been properly linked to yet.  You'll have to look for it somewhere.

I like regional BAT projects.

That's not an excuse.  Do you think that many of us here started out knowing how to do 3d modeling?  No!  It only takes a little time and effort to teach yourself.  And the first step is to try.

Thanks for the offer and explainaction Jasoncw, and i may take you up on the offer later, but as of right now i realy don't have the time to do much.

And it seems that there are alot of unsupportive, rude people on this forum, cough, cough.. Acefanatic. It may do them good to learn some manners and try to be a bit nicer. All this is is an idea for a possible future project, that can inspire BATers, in case they are having trouble coming up with ideas. I'm trying to gauge reception from you guys to see if it could be a possibility. From how you guys are responding its not going to go through.

And a note to the modds, you can shut this thread down if you want. Judgeing by the response from people like ACEfanatic, there is not alot of reception for new ideas in these fourms.

DSO, generally people here are pretty nice. Your proposal here though, does fit the criteria of a bat request because A. you're asking/propsing for buildings to be batted and B. you're not doing any yourself. That tends to get peoples dander up around here because if the rules weren't strictly enforced about bat request, Simtropolis would be just full of threads of people requesting things. It would be bad for the community. So don't take this being shotdown personally.

Now not to toot my own horn, but if you're looking for Calgary buildings I have batted a handful of low-rise buildings (under 5 stories) from the city. You can find them on the stex under my name. I won't, however, be taking on any skyscrappers from the city because skyscrappers aren't my thing, but in time I will do more of the city's shorter buildings.

This is why we do not take BAT requests.  Most of the people who post such things act like they are obligated to have their requests fuilfilled by the hard working BATters of this community.  And furthermore, they also act like there is a massive conspiracy against them, and their often exceptionally unreasonable requests (ohnoes!  The BATters hate me, and are after me for posting a request!!!!!!!11111111oneoneoneeleventeendollarsandseventyfivecents).

So, either learn the BAT, take a shot in the BAT request thread, or move on.  The only way to get what you want is to work for it.  That is what I have been doing for myself.

DSO, Please place all BAT requests in the offical BAT request thread. Last I checked that was the only place where reqests are to be made as per the ST rules. I think the point has been made, please stop posting here people, I'd lock it myself but don't have control over this forum.
