The urban aglomerations in the region of Lusignan are nowadays forming the Urban Network of Atreux Varn Maritime, which in this CJ is under development to reach about 2 million inhabitants, making it one of the larger urban agglomerations in Europe. Current population is roughly 1.750.000.

    Update 1 Introducing Haute-Atreux and Atreuxbourg-Centre

The Atreux-Varn-Marittime (AVM) urban network counts almost 690.000 inhabitants nowadays. I have worked a lot on the departement of Haute-Atreux (High-Atreux) which is one of the five provinces in the region. In the overview below I have highlighted the most important cities. Avigny is the seat of the Prefect.

    avm3eb3.jpg

The government of the departement is located in a part of the former royal palace in Avigny. The city itself has

    developed around the chateau.

    avm4hn5.jpg

But not all parts of haute-Atreux are highly urbanized. In the hills and mountains you can find several small villages.

    avm7kc5.jpg

I have also made some pictures from the old town of Atreuxbourg, the main city of the urban network. It is the largest

municpality after the merging of Ste. Marie, Lambrere sur Atreux and Ste Anne with Atreuxbourg. The old city attracts a

lot of tourist and is largely build during the 18th century after some heavy fires burned down the medieval city.

In the western part of the old city a new entertainment quarter was build at the end of the 90s.

Wow, a nice variety of European settings! I am wondering why the river goes so straight past Avigny - is it some sort of canal? Looking forward to more.

jacqulina, mayormommy, gurrgkud, schulmanator, owenluby, chocolatemax285 and GMT,

    Thanks for yourt comments!!

Mayormommy, the straight section of the Atreux river is indeed a Canal, le canal du Haute-Atreux build in the 19th century. Alongside the canal is one of the most important industrial area's in the region, offering jobs to more than 28.000 people. The area between the canal and the old river bed is part of the municipality of Gernaux and a relaxing place in the busy urban surroundings. About the little villages like Lezignan le Roche, there are plenty of others in the region. Not only in the hills but also in the plains.  Some villages are part of cities nowadays due to the enormous urban sprawl that had taken place.

Update 2 Expanding the region and a transportation map

The Urban Network Atreux Varn Marittime (AVM) now counts 720.000 people. I have finished the departement of Haute Atreux which counts 198.000 inhabitants.

Wonderful! You've got quite a region there and I love how there arent many streets in the cities for cars. Give a feeling of old. I like how you incorperated new buildings into the old areas also. That hilltop town is also looking great. Perhaps some close ups?

    Quick Reply

Thanks for all your kind comments!!

Yoman3: well in most European counties the shoppingstreets (mostly in the old city centers) are not for cars.

Skytearer: I will try to make an mosaic of the more denser arears covering multiple municipalities.

Silur: I make front-end pictures in the following way: first use RegionCensus to make a picture of your region. Save the image and open it with MS Paint. I usually make the size of the cover bigger so you have more white space around it. Then you tend the picture horizontally by -39 and vertical by 10. After the change you need to shrink the picture horizontaly to 50%. Now you have the front-end picture. I hope it will work!

Atreux Varn Marittme is now counting over 823.000 people. I have worked a lot on the departement of Varn et Comte in the northeast part of the region.
