Downtown is looking great! Though, I have one problem: and that's the transition from parkland to beach. If possible, hide the edges of the park tiles with trees or something. Otherwise, it's brilliant.

Keep it up. BTW, I still haven't decided what to do with the land... lol.

And welcome to page 7 of this great CJ. 3.gif

Benedict Yep, it definately is. I'm glad you are enjoying my CJ!

Schulmanator haha, thanks! You can thank dedgren for that one. He just posted a tutorial on how to do it in his CJ and it makes it much easier... and the results are better than how I'd been doing it before.

Shadow_Assassin Hey, yes, I agree... its a bit rough in someplaces... Around the One Nemonos Place are now lots of trees so its much better... but that crescent road at the top... I'm not sure...

Shadow_Assassin haha, yes, I also find that annoying, thanks for introducing page 7!

astarianu I don't have the details just yet. I'll be in touch with the owner for you shortly and get the specs.

DanTso Hey, thanks for coming by! Yea, that rail line there is right on the water... ohh well. Its the end of the line... Its tough to get rail lines in around all the buildings. Gotta put them where you can. I put the population info at the end of update 7. I'll quote it here for you.

A few stats for those interested.

    Nemonos (headwaters region) = 290 000

    Nemonos (regional municipality) = 222 000

    Cairn (regional municipality) = 68 000

    Nemonos (proper) = 90 000

    quote>

Mike the Mayor Thanks, and thanks for coming by! Yea, I really like to watch the progression.

Ok, I'm still looking for some opinions on if installing the industry quadroupler would be a good idea. Thanks to everyone for your feedback!

Ok, Some people asked for it so here it is. Some pics of the airport. It's nothing too spectacular as I've not yet really figured out all the features of the airport packs I have, haha.

    Here's a nice overview shot.

    airport.jpg

On this pic you can see the small air force base adjacent to the civilian airport. Also the tangle of expressway interchanges and overpasses that were built to allow traffic to easily flow in and out of the airport as well as around the terminals.

    top_1.jpg

    middle_1.jpg

    middle_1b.jpg

    bottom_1.jpg

The airport has a main passenger terminal with 3 concourses. There is also a sizable cargo terminal as well.

Finally (yes, I know, its a small update), is the entrance/exit of the airport area into Cairn on Highway 102.

    hwy_102.jpg

Highway 102 is a connector expressway that runs from Highway 2 to the airport. Because Cairn was built all along Highway 2 there was no way to build an above ground expressway to the airport. A large project was funded to tunnel the highway under the city and then emerge it outside of the Cairn city limits. Although a very expensive alternative, the project went off without a hitch, largely due to the fact that there were no on/off-ramps built to the underground portion. This simplfied the design and construction process.

Ok, thats all for now. I'm going to be pretty busy for the next week or 2 so I doubt there'll be an update for a while. I'm moving and starting a new job just after the holidays too so. Stay tuned!

    Merry Christmas everyone.

OK, thanks a lot!! The airport looks very well, but why did you biult it with squares? You can do diagonal grass / tarmak(grey land) It would be better looking, but anyways the airport looks amazing! And the tunnel looks great too!

Cool that looks almost exactly like my airports except I use the ACE Modular Airport packs instead of Joerg's. Nice job!

Happy 2007. Diag. grass? Yes, of course, you can find a lot of texture and LOTs packs in STEX if you search airport. You will see a lot of packs and choose some of them, later, in the game you will find diagonal tarmak and grass and many new terminals and taxiways....

But the airport looks nice, my friend.

Camedia Welcome, thanks for dropping by. Yes, I do see your point. Its a bit risky... Oh well, workplace hazard I guess, haha.

Benedict Thanks. Yes, I'm a big fan of rail transit.

jacqulina no worries. Nothing wrong with conversation. :-)

    GreekMan Hey, thanks!

asturianu Thanks again... one of these days I'll have to check that out.

Ok, hey everyone, sorry for the total lack of any updates. I started a new job as a planning intern with the City of Quinte West. Its exciting stuff but by 4:30 I'm drained and not feeling like doing much but loaf, haha. I managed to get a teaser shot to tide you over until I get into a routine (hopefully one involving more sim city!).

Ok, so Cairn has seen unprecedented growth in recent months. Numerous new high rise appartment & condo developments have gone up in the Tower Park area. Seemingly overnight the City has seen its population surge from 56 000 to 70 000! This puts the Headwaters population over 300 000! :-D This is the highest density area in the whole region! Here's the pic, enjoy!

GreekMan Thanks, and yes, yes it is.

Shadow_Assassin Thank yee kindly. Hahaha, its so true.

asturianu I figure theres approx. 25 000 people living in that small area. You might not be able to find an appt. Vacancy rates are very low right now.

Ok, update time!! Yes, at last. :-D Today we are going to visit the suburb of Hillsburg. As the name suggests it is a part of the 'Burgs' district to the South-East of Nemonos Proper.

    region_political.jpg

Hillsburg is home to a few thousand people and a large commercial business park. The town formed around the intersections of Highways 5 (blue) and 10 (pink). (click for full list of highways)

    region_hwy.jpg

    Ok, lets drive through town.

    top_1.jpg

    middle_1a.jpg

    middle_1b.jpg

    middle_1c.jpg

    middle_1d.jpg

    bottom_1.jpg

As you can see. There is alot of large-lot tree covered homes in Hillsburg.

The main attraction is the Nemonos Metropolitan Arena which houses the regions professional hockey, basketball, lacrosse and indoor football teams. To accomodate pre-and post game traffic the arena has its own interchange and rail station.

    arena_day.jpg

As with all suburban sports venues there building is surrounded by a sea of surface parking. Here it is mostly empty, but on game nights it is packed to its 16, 576 people capacity.

    arena_night.jpg

Next stop is the business park, which really is a park. There are lots and lots of trees!

    top_2.jpg

    middle_2.jpg

    bottom_2.jpg

Annnnd last stop is the venerable 'mansion way'. This street has the largest homes in Hillsburg, all on sprawling lush green lots. If you look reeeally closely you can see Mr. Black (no relation to Conrad) cleaning his pool.

    mansion_way.jpg

Yayy, I finally finished an update! I hope you enjoyed it.

Cool little town. I was thinking that the poor arena looks like an island in a sea of asphalt. Of ocurse, that's how they really are! How's the teams doing this year? I have some money to bet, so gimme the points spread!
