I don't think, they are gonna build that. It would be a dream, to see something like that being built in a third world country. But hey, everyone has the chance to reach the sky. Way to go Argentina.

I've seen alot of ideas for buildings, or "structures", like that. I don't think many of them will be built any time soon. Interesting idea though!

Reality check. Argentina is not a third world country. It's actually one of the more middle-class south American countries, and it has a European cosmopolitan feel about it.

But as for the building---wooooooo. I wish it gets built, that would be magnificent.

Yeah Argentina would be No.2 in South America because Brazil's economy is roaring.

(But nothing like China, India ,U.A.E., or even Mexico.)

Well, my bad, Argentina is a second world country along with some others.

As for the most powerfull, it could be either Brazil or Mexico.

Argetina is actually classified in the developed world according to the U.N. Human Development Index. It is ranked 34th most developed country in the world. Other countries ranked in South America: Chile - 37; Costa Rica - 47; Mexico - 53; Medium Development: Brazil - 63; Colombia - 69; Venezuela - 75; Equador - 82; Paraguay - 88; Guyana - 107;  It is ranked the highest in South America.

    Reference System: Norway - 1; US - 10; UK - 15; Poland - 36; UAE - 41; China - 85; India -127

@Mulefisk:Yeah I really don't know why it is 999 meters and only 3 ft shorter than the proposed SKY-CITY 1000 in Tokyo which would be 1000 meters.
    http://www.emporis.com/en/wm/bu/?id=135989

And I also don't know why the Buenos Aires Forum has its windmill power plants stick out of the water, unlike the proposed Millenium Tower(also proposed in Tokyo), which would have its powerplants underwater.
    http://www.emporis.com/en/wm/bu/?id=101805

All i do know is that the Buenos Aires Forum is the structure that looks like a screw.....not the Fordham Spire.

The Chicago proposed 2000 ft superscraper looks more like a candlestick.30.gif

    @adpbns777:  Woah U.S. is number 10?!  I didn't know that.47.gif

This building is not going to be constructed, is a dream.

Buenos Aires is the 3th most important country of latin America economically the list is:

    1.Brasil and Mexico

    2.Argentina and Colombia

    3.Chile and Venezuela

In other factors the list can change.

Sorry. I want to correct what aleko said. First of all, Buenos Aires is not a country, is the capital of Argentina. Second, and regarding to the topic, I live in Buenos Aires and the construction of this building is not very known. Some information appeared only at internet sites. Personally, I don

It is an interesting proposal. 19.gif When it comes down do it there is a good chance it will not be built, but if it is built I will generally support it.

Buenos Aires is the Capital of Argentina (Southern country in America, in front of Chile), where i live; i thought it would be interesting to know a few about them (for the people who doesn't):

--> Buenos Aires is the most populated second city of South America; it was founded since 500 years ago, (in charge of Pedro de Mendoza, then the second one, in charge of Juan De Garay).
In 1810, a revolution is produced in the principal square (Plaza De Mayo). Up to the decade of 1880, Buenos Aires is the place of a lot of conflicts that would end in the establishment of a Constitution, extremely important for the country. In the next period 1880-1930 is produced a demografic boom and a very important expansion of the inmigration, comming from Italy, Spain, Germany (and other countries of Europe), etc.  In the period 1930-1950 is produced a new type of inmigration (jews, lebaneses, and people who escaped of the Second World War). In the period 1940-1970,  the inmigration comes from Asia (China, Japan, etc), and from the north (Bolivia, Perú, etc).
Well, that was a brief description of the history...

    About the city:
In the present, the city has 3.000.000 of people (Capital Federal) , and near 10.000.000 in the metropolitan area (Gran Buenos Aires); it's the same city, but Capital Federal is the politic center (and economical too) of the country (well, cultural too). You may know the city because of the Tango, but in the present it's exclusively  "for export"  (for tourists of other countries). The football takes an important place in the city too (hundred of stadiums), and it's the official sport here (and in all the country).
    These are the neighborhoods:

    barrioswt8.jpg

    About the architecture:

It has an important diversity of architecture, since their architects were european and the styles, therefore, were french, spanish, italian, etc.

    bsasoj0.jpg

The city is famous for his domes, since it is full of them in the principal avenues (with romantic characteristics, and characteristics of the buildings of 1900). They were constructed to value the properties. Here are some examples:

    bsas2wi2.jpg

You can watch the colonial constructions in the historical center (actually, there's not an historical center, because the whole city is a mixture of modern buildings and ancient buildings; but i'm talking about Congreso and Montserrat, as you can see in the map upstairs), like the Cabildo:

    cabildogt9.jpg

    Or the Congress ("Congreso"):

    congresoga9.jpg

Or the Casa Rosada (Pink House):

    casarosada2an6.jpg
    casarosadagk9.jpg

Those are the 3 most important historical buildings of the city.
Then you have the old skycrapers, like the Barolo Palace:

    palaciobarolohd0.jpg

    Or the Kavanagh:

    kavanaghme9.jpg

    Or the "Alas" building:

    edificoalaswg4.png

As you see, the city has a lot of variety in the aspect of the buildings.
Here is another structure, famous in the world, The Obelisk:

    bsas11fg8.jpg
    obeliscomu6.jpg

Another famous zone (street) is "Caminito" valued by the tourism:

    caminito1dm4.jpgcaminito2qk3.jpg

    Here are someother historical buildings:

    -The "Palace Of Aguas Corrientes"
    palaciodeaguascorrienteit0.jpg

    -The Nacional Library:

    bibliotecanacionalcw1.jpg

    -A military building:

    palaciomilitarwy0.jpg

    The Planetary:

    planetario1wt5.jpg
    planetario2dp3.jpg

-The "Abasto", that was a market, and now is a Comercial Center (the globalization reached it):

    abastojk8.jpg
    abasto2nc1.jpg

Well, if you want to make Buenos Aires in Simcity 4, you can make it, but you gotta know about the "9º of July Avenue", one of the biggest avenues in the world (there's the Obelisk):
    9dejuliohw0.jpg
    920de20juliogd0.jpg

The worst thing about that avenue is that many rich constructiones were destroyed.
Here is a pictures of the "Botanic Garden", the best park in the city (in my opinion), that is not really relevant for tourism:

    jadrinbotanicobj7.png

Then, i can show you some other important buildings:
-Like the Stadium of River Club:
    riverak7.jpg

-Or the Stadium of Boca Club:

    estadiodebocayd8.jpg

Ok, that was nice, but here is the other face of the city, the poor neighborhoods (in the south of the city: Soldati, Lugano, etc):

    -Villa Devoto

    devotooz0.jpg

    -Bajo Flores:

    fortined7.jpg

    -Lugano

    lugano2fr0.jpg

As you can see in the pictures, there's a lot of poverty in this south zone.
But going again to the rich zones, here are some pictures of some modern skycrapers:

    catalinasba6.jpg
Though you do not believe it, in front of  the modern buildings there is the biggest ecological natural reserve of the city:
    reservagk5.jpg
    puertomadero5de5.jpg
    puertomadero4tc6.jpg

Here are the tallest buildings on the city:

    -El Faro Towers
    torreselfarojh3.jpg

    -Le Parc Tower

    torreleparcsh9.jpg

    -The BankBoston Tower

    torrebankbostonzr3.jpg

-The " Torre Del Río" (in the left of the picture):
    torredelrokc1.jpg

If you wanna know the proyects of the buildigs in the future, you can see it here: http://skyscraperpage.com/diagrams/

Well, and finishing, these are some photos of the city from the sky:

    -The Golf Club
    2xr7.jpg

-Aeroparque (the national/international airport in the middle of the skycrapers):
    aeroparquegk6.jpg

    -The neighborhood of Recoleta:

    automovil20clubue8.jpg
    untitled2rt3.png
    norteum1.jpg

-A Highway in the middle of the city:
    autopistazd5.jpg

    -The neighborhood of Belgrano:

    belgranovj1.jpg

    -The Ship's Terminal

    buquebusqd7.jpg

    -The neighborhood of Montserrat

    comandoub9.jpg

    -The Golf Club

    golfvr5.jpg

    -The Racetrack

    hipodromorx3.jpg

-The nieghborhood of Lugano (you can see how poor is)

    industriatr7.jpg

    -The "Torre De Los Ingleses"

    inglesesck2.jpg

    -The Port of Buenos Aires

    libertadtd6.jpg

    -The neighoborhood of Nuñez
    lugonesdx5.jpg

    -The Riachuelo (famous for tourism)

    riobt2.jpg

    -And Soldati

    talleresav8.jpg

This thread was just a small part of Buenos Aires, which i decided to do for all those people who wanted to know how it is, to make it in the game, or at least know them. I hope that this has been useful and that you have enjoyed it.

oops... My Thread was very long; enfact, my post was a description of the city, the other guy just asked a question, but if you want to put it here, then...it's ok, you are a moderator...

And about that proyect >>> http://www.emporis.com/en/wm/bu/?id=271996 >> , it's not even known here. The system of public services are deficient enough like to construct the highest building of the world.

Great pictures copecopecopecopecope, thus the people won't think Argentina is sub-developed.

Nonetheless, probably Argentina will build more buildings, not the stated before, but some important district, like in the Ship's terminal.

Of course it will be good that Argentina moves on and reach the sky someday! I'll be very happy as a South American!

I like the proposed tower, it will never be built in Argentina though. Although would make a great BAT.

As to the economic position of Argentina, the architecture above is a good example of when Argentina was very wealthly, at one point it had a GDP higher than the French economy. However today that is not the case, I would describe it as a developing second world country. The economic problems throughout the 20th Century caused one of the worlds richest nations to fall to a level of GDP (Gross Domestic Product) below that of Ireland, a nation of only 4.2 million compared to 40 million in Argentina and at least 63% of Argentine GDP is public debt.. So yes Argentina is poor, the situation is changing but their will never be the demand, resources or investment required to develop this building. The best hope is for a first world city to build it.

But despite the level of development of Chile or Argentina, they still area Latin American countries and have the same problemas than the rest. For example the characteristic latin american slums ("villas miseria" in Argentina or "poblaciones callampa" in Chile. Surely those would make a very interesting BAT archive for changing the "americanized" slums of the game.

But anyone in Latin America doing that kind of BAT would feel guilty for "mocking" those people who live there.
