I was looking through the beginning of your CJ and noticed that the picture you used in your replies posts was a picture of The Exposition Hall at the 1904 World's Fair in my hometown of St. Louis Missouri, considered one of the greatest World's Fair ever to take place.

Just thought that was cool, can't wait to see more!

granto93 Thanks. Glad it looks pretty realistic. And, more new stuff is coming soon!

Jacqulina Yes, dangerous indeed. These poor folks can't catch a break!

Bakercity They're trying to find them. Too bad they are off the map...

Pipishere Thanks. I wanted to cover several angles of the same thing. Glad you liked it.

Leech10 A bit too rocky, indeed. I wonder if the survivors will be able to use them in any way. [/vague foreshadowing]

Mikeaut1 Thanks! Though I am sure the VI are much more pleasant than this!

nycsc4 You are quite correct! You are the first person to notice that too. The split scene in most of my update headers features the 1893 Chicago World Exposition. I would LOVE to have BATs of those buildings to use as Schulmania's capitol complex someday. I wonder if I can bribe someone to do that for me!

DioAngel Umm, the update turned out pretty well... but Ferry's pix... umm... let's just say that some things are better left unseen!!

Coming soon... something for all you folks who joined Schulmania in the last few months...

As Schulmania now spans over 80 pages and has a slew of updates, newcomers may not be fully aware of the rich heritage of Schulmania. So, here’s a brief guide of the essentials for any Schulmania fan. This is sort of a quickie annotated version of the table of contents, which remains the authoritative source for all things Schulminion.

In the beginning, a plucky little tribe of Sims emerged on the island of Schulmanicus ,the Schulminions. One thing which makes Schulmania different is that it is led by a feline Schulminion, the Supreme Wirdle.  Soon, settlements developed across Schulmanicus, which at the time was supposed to be the entire world. A great panic emerged – fear of the dreaded killer tomatoes – leading to the development of castles.  The Schulminions became seafaring, expanding trade and developing the island more fully. The original settlements grew into villages and new villages were founded.  As the society grew increasingly complex, a prominent hill was reserved as a Sacred Precinct for religious structures. Soon, the spirit of exploration took hold and voyages of discovery were dispatched.  Exciting new discoveries were waiting to be made.  The first land found was not much to behold.  But, change was in the air!

Significant new finds changed the nature of Schulminion society. New seaports spread commerce and colonists to the new lands. Colonies were established to broaden the nation, with model cities bursting with happy colonists.  Two towns were established on Atkinos island, Atkiniros  and Atkinos. After even more exploring, the mainland of Schulmania had finally been found. New services were developed for those in outlying areas. This growth also led to increased development on the home island of Schulmanicus. The new wealth and prosperity led to the development of unified coinage specifications for the realm, known as the Schulminion Monetary Union.  Soon, each city was producing its own money.

As Schulmania grew, the Bureau of Feline Affairs, the government agency for advocating for cats, sponsored many initiatives. One of the most successful and with the most far-ranging impact was the Feline Literacy Project. As we all know, cats love catnip. But, humanoid Schulminions are all about chocolate! Schulminions love to party – and chocolate is part of every celebration. From the Trixie Festival to Schulman Day to the Coronation  you will find Schulminions always ready for a good time! One of the best places to have a good time is Schulmanidad, the first large scale settlement on the mainland.

Good updates, I like how you've made a selection of papers, it's different and gives some variety. What will the survivors make of that sliver of ocean rock? I don't know, I'll be waiting though.

CWLGAMER01 Thanks. I am glad you and the cat had a nice time reading it. The Supreme Wirdle has been known to read computer stiff by sitting on the mouse. I guess she liked to pint and click!

patriots_1228 Fleshy it is, mi amigo!

CarmineHilton You are a citizen now, since you are a homeowner!

    Jacqulina Thanks! 3.gif

cleaner475 Thanks! Plucky sounds like a good name for a pet chicken!

Bakercity Thanks. I thought it would be helpful to fill in the backstory for recent Schulmania initiates.

connor_v Thanks for dropping by. Those poor survivors. I wonder what will happen to them. They deserve a break of some kind!

Asturianu Fear not! The storm did do nationwide damage, but Georgetown is in good shape and your house is fine. I think the only thing that happened to your house mate is that the heavy rain put out the fire in her tuba.

DioAngel Thanks. Glad you like it!

Pipishere Thanks. I got the idea when I realized that there were so many pages that new people would not know why things are the way they are. So, a little catch-up for the new folks to Schulmania... or the senile regulars ;-)

Benedict Thanks! That's my official header for the "Terra Incognita" sequence. But I can trot them out for other stuff too!

I have kept not only the home fires burning for me and Cristian, BUT the tuba flames are safe as well.

By the way, I hope Fledder is going to have a wax before he goes into bikini season, yes?

    All Tremble Before the Wrath

    of The Wirdle!

    wirdlesealuh6.gif

    An Official Position Paper

“She who must be obeyed is not amused” is the official quote from the Supreme Wirdle’s Chief of Staff, Duchess Hester Pester. Repercussions from the recent severe storm have prompted several actions now being ordered for both district and local governments. Losses from the storm include the Schulmericho expedition (7 large ships and materials for a crew and passenger complement of 2,139), port damages in Atkinos, Gran Maru, Busscastle, Wanda, and Smightower. Nearly 10% of the structures in Devonshire suffered moderate to severe damage. Nearly 25% of those in Atkinos District did, and nearly 15% in Schulmanicus as well. Casualties (excluding the lost expedition) are 1,976 dead and 1,821 wounded. Restoration efforts are estimated to cost over 1,000,000 schulmonetas. Emergency aid to distressed families will consume at least as much again. The Supreme Wirdle will pay for the aid and restoration out of her own funds.

She is pleased with the efforts of the colonial government in Devonshire to serve the needs of its citizens during this unprecedented natural disaster. Atkinos District, ably run by Governor Cawale, functioned relatively well, considering the pummeling the area took in the storm. She is not pleased, however, with the performance of the Schulmanicus District government. The slow, ham-handed response to the storm has earned her full and mighty wrath. A full investigation has been completed and the following causes were noted for the poor performance:

    1. The Governor was on vacation in Schulmanidad and left underqualified underlings in charge in his absence.
    2. Wirt serves as national and district capitals. Many officials serve roles in both government levels, complicating the chains of command, slowing response times and creating inefficiencies.
    3. The dual role of Wirt has caused the town to be grow beyond its capacity. Many government offices at local, district, and national levels are spread across town, reducing efficiency and creating logistical hassles.
    4. The City Planning Office proved its success with buildings in Devonshire. Buildings in other districts have not necessarily been subject to its building codes and thus have been more subject to damage.
    5. No branch of government was prepared for a storm of this magnitude. No whether event in recorded or oral history has been as large scale and severe as this one.

In analyzing these findings, the Supreme Wirdle has elected to implement a series of changes. Some are immediate and others will be phased in. Her plan to address these shortcomings is:

    1.                  Replace Schulmanicus Governor, effective immediately. He will be subject to scratching by the Scythe-Claws of Doom.  Princess Katherine Cleopatra, a cousin of the Supreme Wirdle, has been appointed as Governor of Schulmanicus.
    katieul5.jpg
    Governor Princess Katherine Cleopatra

    2.                  Decree a separation of district and national governments, reorganizing both to focus on areas of responsibility and have form follow function. A council will convene, led by the Bureau of Feline Affairs, to create a set of recommendations for the Supreme Wirdle’s consideration.
    3.                  Consolidate all Schulmanicus District government offices in one location. As the town occupies most of Oak Ridge, the eastern flank of the hill, which already has seen some commercial development, will be best suited for a large, centralized district government office. Wirtyplace will continue to serve as the Supreme Wirdle’s official residence and seat of government. Plans have already been proposed for relocating the national capital to Schulmericho. With the lack of expansion room in Wirt, new sites will be searched for relocating the national capital. Proposals thus far include: Schulmericho (again), Babalonia, the lands west of Schulmanidad in Schulmania and exploring new land to the west or north for new sites. Until a new site has been selected, Wirtyplace and the surrounding ring of buildings will serve as the de facto national capitol complex.
    4.                  The City Planning Office will now inspect all buildings in unplanned cities, enforcing building codes and assisting in retrofitting older structures.
    5.                  Building codes will now reflect an increase in building strength of 20%. Local and district governments will develop emergency action plans in case of other severe weather situations or other possible problems. Additionally, the Supreme Wirdle has commissioned the second national census, to determine the extent of the post-disaster population. Furthermore, she has decreed the establishment of Public Safety Offices in each town. These offices will provide civic services as well as assist citizens in times of need. The National Public Safety Office will be directed by Sir Topham Hatt, who will serve a 24 month term.
    cattophatvt5.jpg
    Sir Topham Hatt

    6.   To assist in financing this effort, new currency sources will be needed. Coin copper will be diverted to reconstruction materials. To assist with commerce, Atkinos and Schulmanicus District will be allowed to issue promissory notes as currency for the duration of the recovery effort.

Wow, I have just read through almost nintey pages of your journal (and by 'just' I mean over the last month. . .) and am amazed at a) the skill in which you have created ancient cities, a civilization, and an interactive experience; and b) that I've finally hit the end. I must say, hats off to you for this execellent work here. I hope to only see this get better, and welcome our future overlord, Supreme Wirdle.
