Using the PlopModd Final....

I have been very curious with this modd. How does it actually work? Can you create a major million populated city in an hour? Do just start makin sky skrapers in a downtown and start making the city and suburbs all at the same time. Could any of you post pics done by you or someone you know by using the plop modd? I am really curious in how you can make the citys by using this modd...... In other words, what is your opinion on this modd. Is it fun to use? Is it better to use? Or does it take the fun out of the game?

many ppl use this mod to create their cities...I personelly don't , i use only groable

whatever makes the game fun for you is fine

two things you have to rember..only plop COM and IND lots when the city has the demand to sustain the lots you are ploping and have a proper transit network to handle the traffic or you may run into demand problems (not enough sims to fill the jobs or go beyond demand caps few other thing odd and weird things)  or you may send your city or region spining into a into a depresion that you may not be able to recover from

seconmd...RES plopps don't function properly...the sims can't start comutes, so the sims are trapped in the buildings unable to get out (sort like the ppl in Saw 1 & 2) this can create all sort of demand and comute problems in a city or region... sooner or later the buildings will dilapilate and become abandon , theres ways to delay this from happening, but no known way from stopping it from happening

I use plops all the time because I like to have control on which building goes where. I try to make sure the plop fits with its surrounding and I only plop each building one time so I have as few repetition as possible, much more realistic IMO. But, even if you use plops it still takes as much time to build the city. most of my time is spent towards planning and building the transit systems, the infrastructure, the parks, terraforming etc'

Ploping is not as easy as it looks since plops can get abandoned too, specially the big CO$$$ skyscrapers. you need to make sure your city is ready for the particular plop (check the demand graphs), best way to make sure a plop survives is to zone com and let stuff grow on it. if and when that area gets high demands and starts growing the in-game towers I plop my skyscraper on top of the exsiting buildings.

    So no ones actually made a city by just using the plopmodd?

    The best way is to zone and then plop commerical downtown buildings only? No apartments or housing of any kind right?

    Well, I was hoping to create thematic housing estates, but after discovering that RES buildings don't work I kinda scrapped that idea. Is there anyway to have houses repeat without having to bulldoze and make historical?

    you could use the Boards PM option...not sure how active on ST Ralphie is anymore....he can also be message on the Official site's BBS...I belive he is still active in monitoring the boards there...4.gif

    So there is NO way to use the res buildings in the plopmodd.............

    Theres no other modd to change that, huh?

    no theres no mod that can change the no comute problem...there is a mod that can delay the abandoment of the buildings for about 180yrs in the mods and download section...4.gif

    but after 180 yrs...the buildings will abandon

    Yes quite easy to do. Download and install BlockAllMaxisBuildingsV2 by Dusktrooper then place in your plugins the res buildings you want to grow. make sure you only have the buildings you want to grow in the plugins folder, remove the any unwanted for the time being so they don't grow.

    After you're done and before you remove the block and put back any plugins you have removed make sure to mark historical each building so it don't get replaced.

    With this method I grew big slums and gehttos.

    Thanks for the info SoulStealer. Still a bit of a hassle having to go in and out of the program, but at least I'll have some control over it.

    I have had several of the RES buildings (as in skycrapers) that have grown on there own in my city(s). Is there population being counted? Because Im not so sure it is....... I have had about 6 of them grown and it should have increased by population by about 10,000 and it has not changed.

    And what about the commerical downtown skycrapers? I have placed several of those and several have also grown on there own and my airport usage has not changed either.

    Any help?
