This is the rail connection map for my city. The Street map and subway map can be seen in previous posts (one pack back and two posts up respectively). The metro lines are shown for reference.

NMUSpidey Hey, glad I could inspire you. Nice mpa, thanks for adding it to the thread.

legalizeit That is a great downtown map. I like your symbols to mark the subway stations. Impressive how clearly everything is presented considering the amount of info.

Khorasaurus1 Hey, really nice downtown map! I'd love to see where your transit stations are on it...

david1314 Very nice subway map... and I really like your second map showing how rail and metro are linked. Good stuff!

GingerBlokey Wow, that's a brilliant map. I like the fun angles of some of the lines, but I like the line names best - all quite original (well, apart from the ubiquitous circle line 2.gif

And now for the latest version of the Ellington Underground map...

...version 3.0 has the extension of both the Stadium and Southside Lines across the Ellis River. The Stadium line has 3 new stations, and the Southside line 5 (they interchange at Heritage Square) with a connection to the Northbank EllisRail station. The Riverside line has reclaimed its southern branch, which itself has been extended by one station and re-oriented on the map to reflect its physical situation in the city more accurately. The EllisRail station at Southfield has been closed due to poor patronage.

GingerBlokey: I'm a fan of the layout.  I must admit, The angles look a bit arbitrary to me, but are nevertheless very cool.

Bennedict, another fantastic work from you.  It's really neat to see the evolution!  Also, it's fun to see someone comment along the lines (pun indended 2.gif) of Transit Maps of the World

Legalizeit: You've got a very nice color scheme there.  It's a good looking map.

Khorasaurus1: You're map is quite good in the information it contains, but it could use some fine tuning.  If you joined all the lines up properly to the exact pixel in the image, it would look very nice.

And its a shame no one else is commenting....   Oh well, we will enjoy our maps together!

Now, a few from me.  These are the same maps as above, but I have anti-aliased them FAR better, and they look....presentable.

great looking maps from everyone - very realistic.

david1314: what is the applicable scale for these maps? In particular, I am wondering how large that subway system is in game.

Some great maps there guys. Does anyone know how to get these curved lines in photoshop, that's something I've never figured out.

PhilsCafe: There's a lot of curves in here, you're going to have to be more specific...

mkaustin: Here is a view of the region...cleverly, I have left the city boundaries off of it, but the region is 7x4 tiles...that gives an idea of the rail and street maps...and to a lesser extent the subway.

https://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z316/rotaryspd/NewDenver.jpg

For the subway map, the area between Plaza and Governors (oops, misspelled on map) is about 1.5 mi and stations are about every 400yds (they are geographically shown in blue with white "M"s in the street map). This pattern continues down to the Carter* terminus, which is about 1 mi from Governors. Eastmoth is about 3 mi from Bridge, and Dempsey Jcn is about 4.5 mi from Plaza

In your subway chart for example, the turns of the blue, red and yellow lines. I tried it with the free form pen tool but I don't manage to make the line visible after I've edited the anchor points. I don't know if that's specific enough.

Instead, I had to use the line tool and draw a lot of very short sections to make them look like a curve. But there must be an easier way, isn't it?

There are a couple of ways to do that. To keep mine consistent, I used a circle and just hacked out 1/4 or 1/8 sections for 90* and 45* turns.

You can also use the Bezier curve tool...every image program has one. Personally not familiar with 'toshop though, don't know where to point you with that. It won't be consistent, unless you copy & paste, but it should be good a smooth.

I did a single line map for simplicity's sake anyway I was using paint to put in the text and white spots on the lines and the lines were drawn using OpenOffice Draw

Thank you guys. david, the circle tool seems to be a good choice for subway maps, I wonder why I didn't realize that earlier since I've used that before for web designs. I haven't found the Bezier tool in photoshop, but with the path tool, it works now (thank you Benedict for pointing me to it).

I also found a tutorial on making curved lines, if someone else likes to know about it too (also a nice inspiration for new webpage designs...).

TheSixCents, that is a great looking map. I was wondering, where would your CBD be? Is it where the red, yellow, and green lines run together? Is it subway?

Well, I never posted here before, so I think I'll give it a shot.

This is the transportation view of my main region and my City Journal.

Image is rather large.  Click on the thumbnail to view it in FULL RESOLUTION!

greaterterranregionfdvxi9.th.jpg

Note: I use the Rural Highway (RHW) network, and it does not show up too well on this view.  (If you look closely, there are thin green lines where they travel though).  Again, there are texture mis-alignments.  I am not sure which transport view to use, the default or a custom made one.

Best,

-Haljackey

wow this stuff is really impressive!

Is there a program that any of you use for the street maps of the cities, or do you just take images and photoshop them?

The CBD (Downtown) is where the green, blue and orange (city) lines connect at 17th and Falsworth. The Green and Red lines are the only Rapid Transit (Subway) lines in the city, while the City line is Mostly Underground Light rail. The Blue and Purple lines are mostly at grade Light Rail, with the exception of where the Blue and City lines share underground tracks. You can see the southern part of the red line at Vinewood and Verdant in the San Andreas CJ.
