These are some shots of a few of Rene's new BATs

I'm thinking, because so many of the smaller ones look so much alike, that we may only use those that are distinctly different from the others.  In this case I've chosen the dozen medium and high wealth lots that looked best.  All have nightlights except the Catena Tower ( in the lower right corner).  I would like to see you reshoot Catena with nightlights -- it's a lovely building and very unique. 

Also here is an inventory of your most recent BATs that still need to be shot in High resolution with nightlights. I or Andi would be glad to help you shoot them if you still have these gmax files.

I like that the Towering Inferno is so totally black, but even if no light shows from the windows at night (very sinister) it should still have spotlights shining up its sides and some sort of light on the roof.  I'm suggesting that it be used as Landmark, renamed of course.

i delete  those gmax files sorry

when i was revising my folder on mediafire

is gone my older folder is gone

sorry i upload the wrong files so i will delete it due to deleted gmax files about it.

only i have is gmax files is those fix.

I had to change many of the textures because they weren't included in the files.

Let me know what you think about the night lighting.  I have never had so much trouble shooting a BAT as I did with this model; I think it turned out nice though.

Also, in the background is a shot of my first attempt at a Monorail station.  I think it's too small -- like maybe it should be about 3 or 4 tiles long.  What do ya'll think?

I think 4 tiles is the minimum size for any type of rail station (excluding subway). I'd also suggest making the structure more connected and enclosed. Right now there appears to be no way for sims to reach that platform, and the station looks very open to the elements.

Here's another -- Duke Mall.

Station has stairs visible inside from the back, (I assume there's also elevators in the lobby). But I take your point and will try again. Anyone know what the actual Rail height is for Mono?

Also I am wondering how to use the Large Light Rig -- Several of Rene's buildings are very tall and the regular Light Rig doesn't work, but I can't seem to get the other Rigs to function properly.  Andi, you may need to shoot these for us.

No, 15m is top of pylon -- looks like the top of the rail is 2+ meters higher. Hoping someone knew the actual dimensions of the rail.

    Got the light rig worked out and re-shot the mono at 4 tiles but still doesn't match up to the rail. Try again.

    Also shot many new buildings from Rene --

    These are actually a combination of Rene and myself; Rene did the bulk of the building and I added crowns and other minor details.

    These are new -- probably I will release them as a set of Colleges (post-Beta 3?) that will function as a modular University. They are Kasei no Daigaku (the University of Mars).

    The dome is based off a suggestion from Xyloxadoria offered some months ago.  The sphere is an experiment in using mapped reflections to mimic the reflected cityscape around the building.

    Actually that bottomless pit idea really have the looks of an primitive type nuclear reactor maybe afew pipes by the side wall and in and out of the central structure.. volla... u got your very own open air nuclear pile...

    Tim, I worked throught the Rene33 pack you sent me last. Some nice buildings there, thanks for getting them re-rendered and lit up.

    There were a few things that needed fixing:

    - The building value which was set too high on most of them. It should reflect a value with a comparable Maxis building (use capacity number as reference).

    - Max. Fire Stage should be set to 5 for all buildings since we changed from Fire to De-Compression.

    - A few BATs didnt grow as they had wrong zone types assigned in .lot file.

    - for naming files please dont add the creators name, all file names should be neutral (i.e. SM_R$$6_ApartementBlock, instead of SM_R$$6_rene_ApartementBlock)

    There was one BAT without nightlights (the large CS$$$ with 2 towers) which cant be used like this.

    Also there was a large tower with windows way too large (almost double the height they realisticly should have) and cant be used like this either.

    Lastly the tower with the cross symbol, this is the same issue as with putting in different language symbols. There should not be any specific religious symobls.

    SimMars needs to be kept neutral just as SimCity is (SC4 features a "place of worhship", not a church per se as a church is Christian)

    So the same goes for putting in different language symbols. I said it before it can only be an exception, the chosen language for SimMars is English as the universal world language. The new domes look amazing, but they cant be considered as a civic building if they have a different language symbol showing.

    We dont want to suggest that certain religions or languages(cultures) are being prefered. This is what people might take it as. And we already have several buildings in the mod with what I believe are Chinese symbols.

    Therefore it has to stay neutral.

    Tim, not sure if you were dealing with the 3D files of the below, you sent me the pack of files anyway (Team stuff), here's my comments :

    Renedius BATS

    Nirkus Tower:  Overscaled, needs to be saled down quite a bit.

    Huntus Tower: Is slightly overscaled, but can be left like it

    Leethiro Tower: this BAT has no nightwindows/lights

    Software Factory: the building needs more detailing and there are no nightwindows/lights

    Supplywarehouse:  was rendered in Draft mode and also has no lights

    Warehouse:   same as above

    Living Box:  same as above

    Terra Tower:  same as above

    Evillions BAT

    Beta-Services Tower:   This is a very large BAT, I estimate it's about 500 meters high. It looks really cool, but there is one problem with the night view: the front is light up nicely with a lot of windows, but the back has almost no windows. For a building that prominent and large this has to be changed. Otherwise there is just a big dark block in ur night cities (from the back view anyway). See a picture below to see what I mean.

    Also during the dayview, the colors of textures seem a bit too similar alltogether and I would wish for a bit more contrast. it looks a bit bland compared to all the other BATs.

    Many apologies! The Buddha on the Aziz lot is a prop and can be easily removed. I'll try to refrain from excessive multi-culturalism.

    Sorry I don't have any of the gmax files on Rene's Draft rendered models - I offered them because I thought they would blend well, but they can be discarded if unsuitable. I may still have E's Beta Services file - I'll see what I can do but I don't have the leeway to render large BATs like I did. Also sorry for not paying closer attention to the specs on the lots - I'm generally using Maxis lots as base so I figured they carried the correct values; guess not!

    yea you wud think the lot editor should give reasonable values, but it does not at all unfortunately.

    So I end having my other BAT in SM. Well, I cant render it, but if you can import it to 3dsmax, it would much better. Textures and other problems would be solved.

    EDIT:  For those who my spaceship file, its at the STEXwww.simtropolis.com/stex/details.cfm  Everything you need is at the discription for this file to work.

    consider me a newb to simmars BATting, (although i did use it at one point) but after playing red faction guerilla i have new ideas and may BAT some new stuff. Looking good so far tho.

    Hi all, I don't recall releasing this one previously so here goes. It's a medium wealth residential modular apartment tower. This is what you would call a self assembling building. The central column is erected first then the onboard gantry crane lifts the living containers into position. The centre column contains lifts, stairs, aircon plant, as well as a large dome that holds communications equipment, a gym and laundry facillities.

    So where does stuff get uploaded to now? I remember we used to have a webcollab site that was used. I don't want to release this one on the STEX...cheers
