In the 1960's cities such as Birmingham built major roads through the city underground. Inspired by Birminghams Queensway and a little part of the Boston Big Dig i have created this.

tonksundergroundmotorway2vf1.jpg

A detailed underground motorway entrance, of course an exit will be required, plus maybe an avenue edition. Maybe even rail and GLR. The main reason behind this is a lack of Left Hand Drive version of Blahdys (well modelled) Big Dig tunnels, also to create a more British approach for the British players out there.

Keep an eye out for more developments, ill show off the exit tunnel soon.

Motorways have gantrys with motorway signals, otherwise, it will have one at the right hand side of the carraigeway.

Good job.

Constantina: I dont understand what you mean?

And heres an exit, basic exit 4.gif

Basicly, i replaced the hight max signs with no entry signs and flipped the sign around. Well thats it, but it looks right, nice and simple.

Very good idea but I would imagine that the signage would be something along the lines of this...

I know that this is an image of a raised highway but I would imagine that the signage would be like this. I cannot say from experiance what a underground Mway would be like as i rarely experiance such a thing (Liverpool and Manchester don't have any apart from the Entrance signs to the Mersey Tunnel!)

The other thing is that I would imagine, the mouth for a urban motorway would be at least three-four lanes wide as experinaced on the A58(M) in Leeds or the M8 in Glasgow. Oh, and it would be lit but I think the high mast lighting that are on the Stex would be used rather than having lighting on the roadway itself.

Great Work and I hope all goes well!

Those look nice, one question though, are you making them compatible to the Euro textures instead of the original maxis ones?

if so i could se a multitude of uses for this ^^

Shame it wont render 3.gif Im doing this project in BAT not 3dsmax so its not that problem again. Also it successfully rendered at draft, but all high q attempts are unsuccessfull. Smeg.

Very good, Tonks.  But I have a small suggestion, could you darken the road texture a little bit?  I just think it will look a little too lite to the normal European road textures when connected.

I have just got myself a darjer road texture (5 seconds with Photoshop hehe) and applied a more realistic grass texture to the top. I will probably darken down the concrete on the fans a bit too.

Heres the model with the changed textures, not much has changed but it should fit in a little better.

Your rendering problem sounds the same as mine was for one of my buildings... It rendered at draft, but not on high. The only thing I changed to make it render was to make sure NONE of the nitelite were in a group. gmax does NOT like this. So, if your nitelites are grouped, try ungrouping them.

Anyways, these look nice. Good work! 4.gif One suggestion... perhaps add more fans or some other kind of thing on top of the entrance... maybe a small electrical box or something. It looks kind of bare.

all that sounds freakin awesome. especially the GLR. The ndex transition seems too steep for my tastes.

a curved one would be awesome too

These look great! I can't wait to test them in game. great work ill.

I know nothing of batting so forgive me for asking this, but why isn't it possible to make the tunnel's textures as dark as the default road texture?

    Great release tyvm

It is compatable and will work, but future versions wont look right for RHD users, the avenue transition will have signs on the wrong side for RHD.
