SC4Tool - Reference and Visual Editor for BATs and Lots

    The SC4Desc file is created by the Plugin Manager, not by the Lot Editor (the LE creates an SC4Lot file, as the name indicates). If the building you're working on doesn't have an SC4Desc file, maybe the building exemplar file got included in the SC4Lot file. In SC4Tool, start the Exemplar Editor, open the SC4Desc or SC4Lot file and look for the "Building" entry (marked in red). Then click on the "Capacity Satisfied" property (marked in blue) and change the value (marked in green) to the desired number.

    Thanks Andreas Roth.  This is my problem.  I don't have a capacity Satisfied in the area where my lot is.  I checked the Model File, and it said the Capacity Satisfied said it was 63.  Here's two pictures of what I see.

    Which leads me to another question.  The lot that I'm working on has two copies of this model.  Would that have an effect, too?

    The Capacity Satisfied is not likely to be in the model file. The model file is just the model. You need to find the descriptor file or the building exemplar file and the Capacity Satisfied will be in there.

    See how in Andreas' screenshot he has found the Capacity Satisfied under the Building? From the looks of your file you haven't yet found the building file. You need to find that before you can alter the capacity satisfied.

    I didn't find where you mentioned how you created this file, which would give a clue as to where you should be looking for the building exemplar.

    sam ~ Thanks!  I used the Lot Editor to Edit the lot, but I'm using some of SG's Buildings.

    This is a pictures of the lot, in the game.

    However, I noticed that I also used another building as prop from him in another lot, and it did the same thing.  I've never actually edited growable residentials.  I usually edit parks and such.  Anyway, when I saved the lot, it only gave me a lot file, as I expected.  I tried getting into the Plugin Manager and edit it that way, but since it wasn't a model, and I couldn't find a .desc file, I couldn't edit it there.  And, that what I get when I load the lot files.  In all the ones that I edited, that's what happened....  Does that help any?

    When you make a growable in the Lot Editor it doesn't make a new copy of the building exemplar in your new lot file as ploppables do. The lot just refers to the original building exemplar. What I would suggest you do is before you make your lot, go and find the building exemplar you want to use, make a copy of it with a new iid (so it does't overide the old one). Then build your lot and place your new exemplar on it using the change building button. That way you can mod the new one however you want. For tidiness sake you may want to merge the building exemplar in the Lot File, that way you'll be able to find it easily.

    Time Loop:  Ok, so its all fixed.  Here's what I figured out what went wrong.  When I was building the lot, I was using an "invisible" building, and then the townhouses were props.  Well, I went back, and changed the building to on of SG Townhouse Building, not prop.  Well, once I did that, and loaded it to the game, everything was good.  Thank you very much, Sam and Andreas Roth, for your help!  Sorry if I was a bit of a pain in the neck. hehe

    Ok, so I'm having trouble with a building I downloaded,"White Modular House" being the only one that builds during game, but I don't know the actual file name for the house, nor where I downloaded it(months ago). I went into the Buildings Database, and it is shows there as the "White Modular House" but I can't delete it, nor does it show the file name for the house, so I can go in and manually delete it. Is there any way to do this?

    I've already searched my plugins folder for anything having to do with "white" "modular" and "house" but to no avail.

    I really don't want to delete everything in my plugins folder, and re-download all my buildings, but I'm getting to that point, because this is really aggravating.

    I don't know if this has to do anything with SC4TOOL but I made a lot in LE and then I made it Transit enabled in SC4tool and whenever I plop it in my game,my whole game crashes.....Does anyone think they might know what is causing this?

    Spaticles ~ When I have a problem like that, I usually find the download, then redownload it, so then I know the file name . Then search it, and delete it. I don't know if that is the best way, but it's how I do it when I have that problem.

    Yeah, I tried doing that. I searched this site for it, SimCity's official exchange site, and somewhere else, but I couldn't find it :/

    Well, I went through every file in the folder, hoping to see something similar to "White Modular House" and I deleted one called "Prototype house of the future" which I figured it could be, and now it doesn't grow, so no more problems 4.gif

    Im experiencing a problem with the texture scanner. I cant get the images to show when I switch to image mode. 

    It worked on my old system with XP but not on Vista. What to do? Im making a TE-lot and I really need the road texture for the 3D model. Any help would be much appreciated.

    Has this never happened to anyone else? I go into Texture Scanner and load up a file, but when I look for texure in images it doesnt come up. 

    I used to be able to pick a texture and save the images to my harddrive but when I switched from XP to Vista I cant seem to do anymore. I have the 3.0 .net framework, or whatever its called, installed and it says in the readme of SC4tool that I need atleast .net framework 1.1, but 3.0 should be compatible with SC4tool right? I mean its a newer version, doesnt that mean it should automatically work even better? God Im so confused...

    Other than that I have no complaints with SC4tool, I think its a great, great program!!

    Unfortunately, .NET 3.0 isn't simply an upgrade from 1.1 and 2.0, but you need to install both (or all of them) in some cases. I don't know if Vista has 1.1 and 2.0 built in already, though, so you might want to check on that first. I don't have Vista, so I can't try it, but if the compatibility mod and disabling visual styles for SC4Tool doesn't help, that feature might be incompatible with Vista - and there's probably nothing that can be done about it, sorry.

    I've been looking through this thread, but there's way too many posts so forgive me if this has already been asked or noted.

    I have been trying to use this program for several months and each time I try to boot it up I get this message:

    "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135). Click on OK to terminate the application."

    I have uninstalled and re-installed it numerous times and I have cleaned all my plugins out of unnecessary stuff, but I still keep getting that message.

    Can anyone help me with this one? Thanks in advance.

    I have the same problem like Mike-RaWare. Everytime I press open the program freezes. I tried to run it in WinXP compatibility mode and with disabled visual styles but it still freezes.

    Could you help me with the problem?

    Edit: Now it works, I had to turn off the desctop designs as well.

    I'm having a time trying to figure out what is probably an easily solvable problem with the SC4Tools program.

    Whenever I create custom buildings and lots, I place them into a subfolder named for that particular building, and always within the plugins folder. However, when I go into the Comparer to view these, they will not show up when I have scanned the Plugins folder and selected the appropriate building type and wealth level - every time I want to see one of my customs, I need to go into the file mode and seek out the .desc file and rightclick to add it to the list.

    Why won't these little guys show up once I've scanned the plugins folder? Other custom content that I've downloaded shows up fine in the Comparer...but wondering why I have to do a special dance to add these individually?

    One thing I have noticed, which may be symptomatic...when I have a list of buildings which have been found once I've scanned the Plugin folder (let's say CS$ stage 2s), I have noticed that at the bottom of the screen, it will give the Lot name and file information. However, when I have added my own files to the list manually, it won't give me any of this information at the bottom. I haven't had any trouble growing these lots, however - they've all shown up in game...

    Any ideas? What am I missing?

    Its the link I tested. Thanks, but to me isnt working.

    the app is large? can you donwload and send me to email??

    I wish use it because some lots mine are with brown boxes - only to test what is missing.

    Do you know a good tool to check dependences?

    Im trying to use Peg Pond II Deluxe, Peg Strem Deluxe and Hydro Dam, but some lots are strange, missing textures.

    I cant make the lake before the dan (left/right margim), when I prop the graphic is very strange.

    Look farther down, you have to click "Download" or similar at the bottom of the page. Did you do that? (Sorry if you did, i don't want to make you feel dumb.. Some people might not know that though ) 4.gif

    I have a problem concerning the texture creator in SC4Tool.

    When I load textures into the Texture Creator, I don't get a preview of them. (See image)

    When I start out opening the SC4Tool, I get a message like this:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\MenuShowDelay=0

    This Causes problems to menu functionality

    Please Change this value to something > 0

    What to do?

    Hey I just got back into SC4 after a pretty long break and I just downloaded SC4Tool to alter some of the buildings. It works fine loading it up but as soon as I click anything in the program it freezes up and 3-4 blank program tabs open up on the bottom taskbar of my screen as if it's doing something but no matter how long I wait nothing happens and I have to force close SC4Tool. Any idea what is causing this? I am on Windows Vista and I did install the Microsoft Framework fix. I tried using the main icon and the shortcut icon in the SC4Tool folder and they both do the same thing.

    EDIT:  Nevermind I found the solution by reading back in this thread a couple pages.  Thanks guys.

     I just started trying to create custom content for SC4.  I started with trying to make sunken highway wall textures (because jeronij's are great, but I want variety).

    I'm following this tutorial -> www.simtropolis.com/omnibus/index.cfm/Main.SimCity_4.Custom_Content.CreateandModTextures

    I'm up to the SC4Tool part, and have got stuck using it.  I open a random .dat from my plugins folder (which, as best I can tell, is what the tutorial does (I've tried a few different .dats)), hit 'add texture', load my texture, set the IID, and hit OK; an error dialog then comes up reading 'Error! Data not saved!'.  I've tried running SC4Tool as admin, checked permissions of the .dat's I'm editing, and using different image formats for the texture.  Upon failing, SC4Tool does create another file named .sav in the plugins folder, but my textures still don't show up in the lot editor, so I don't know what that is.

    Anyone know what is wrong?

    Edit: Forgot to mention, any time I click on a menu bar item, the tool freezes up and I have to kill it from task manager, this under win7 64-bit
