I just got the NAM and got all the plugins ( which none of them work? ) and I found an ANT. It looks like a road, but you cant connect it to any other type of transit. What does it do?

Also, in the section labeled 'Automata' what do all the different options do?

They are:

Standard:

Standard 24th:

Radical:

Radical 24th:

ANT stands for Additional network type or somthing like that.

The ANT is used as a base to create new transportation systems like the Rural highway found in the RHW fourm in Modding: transit networks or other types of transport.  Hope this helps.

standard and 24th are automata(cars&sims) on a normal basis as if u would see them in a regular city. radical and 24th is a bit different and requires high system specs to use. meaning u will see more cars and sims either during rush hour hours or all the time, hence the name radical 24th. meaning all day everyday. same applys for the standard 24th, only meaning normal cars and sims during the whole course of the day. try consulting the readme's that came with the NAM and they will explain in motre detail what each plug-in does in more detail. hope this helps.

The Ped Mall Puzzle Pieces from the NAM create the pedestrian walkways that you are referring to. The ANT is another road type network that Maxis never finished. The NAM Team activated it and is using it for a rural highway network.

I would like the ANT used for a bus way only, could this be done?

In Sydney we have them, dark red in color, they take the bus's off the main roads

and go over/under the main streets/roards..

I think there is a misunderstanding about the automata options.  The 24 is for 24 hours of the day that the automata runs.  The radical is self explanatory
