Important Note: I might start a new CJ based on this one.  I will post the progress prior the start of it here -- please see the bottom of page 2 for details.

Welcome to Halston!

Climate(Temperature Averages in F, High/Low):

Halston has a humid subtropical climate with hot summers and very mild winters.  Frosts are rare, while temperatures in the summer exceed 100F very frequently.

January: High 68F/Low 48F

Feburary: 66F/47F

March: 73F/56F

April: 81F/64F

May: 86F/68F

June: 90F/71F

July: 96F/74F

August: 97F/76F

September: 91F/70F

October: 82F/58F

November: 74F/55F

December: 69F/51F

Well folks, I guess it's time I give you some teaser pics of Halston.  Let me advise you that this will be more of a "technical" CJ rather than an eye candy CJ despite these first pictures:

Downtown Halston

A view of Downtown Halston.  Just ignore the UDI symbols.  If someone could tell me how to hide them, I would like it.

The neighborhood of Calentia.

The neighborhood of Calentia, located just south of downtown across the Acadia River on the historic Saucony Bridge(out of view here, but I'll show you later).

Well that's it for the teasers.  I might not update this CJ frequently, because I still have to build out the region.  Also let me say that the city's name is not meant to be derived from Houston.

I shall keep an eye on this...

PS - to hide UDI symbols, clicky F3 (my sim mode) and clicky hide UDI symbols button... (might be in sub menu, can't remember... except I can remember it is at bottom of menu/submenu)

maybe someone else can explain better...

Hey, this seems very nice! I like your downtown setup. The way you have placed the Tapaie (sp??) tower is very realistic. It reminds me of the real thing, one giant pen surronded by small earasers (lol bad pun) and the limited # of skyscrapers is extremely realistic.

    Responses:

Tommy_Versetti3, rusty_777: Thanks for your responses.

johndg240: Well, this next update has no UDI symbols.

    collgab: Thanks.

gurrgkud: I can't wait for more either... (but I gotta remember it takes time to make a update...)

SC4Noobie: While the placement of that Taipei 101 tower does seem like the real thing in that view, you'll see that in this next update, that there is more very tall skyscrapers in Halston.

patfirefghtr: You're about to see, lol...

crazychickensc12: Well look below here.  UPDATE!!!

Well, I guess it's time to show you Update 1.

    Update 1 - Tour of Downtown Halston(Part 1)

Stadium, Parking Garage, and the MerCo tower.

Some residential on the west side of downtown.

    dthal4.jpgGeneral downtown view.

    Some tall skyscrapers.

    The Centralia Mall.

Well, hope you enjoyed this first update.  Anyone who I haven't responded to before this update will be responded to later.

Downtown looks very good. It's grown well.  Your pictures and captions are also laid out well.

Although if I were you, I'd place the suburban mall in the suburbs. It feels a little out of place in downtown.

But that's just what I think and it might not be what you think.

    Interesting CJ.

    Nice downtown, some great highrises.

    Nice suburb (lot of R$$$).

Intersting how you laid out the avenue and the side street parrallel to it.

    Looking forward to more.

    I must say... good update

(you think after a while you can show a citywide view?... not necessarily the next update if you don't want to ruin another planned update...)

    Halston: Replies

jacqulina, collgab: Thanks for the nice comments.

GMT: Heck, don't it seem rich?  Well, not in all places.  Ghettos will be part of the diversity, too.

FavreKev04: I would have to agree, Halston does seem nice.

pickled_pig: Well, theGalleria in Houston(despite being in Uptown) inspired me to put a mall in my downtown area.

Nik-nik: Downtown does indeed has some nice highrises, but for some reason, it just donton't seem right.  BTW that mansion neighborhood isn't intended to be a suburb, but an inner-city neighborhood.

simcitystar1167, eggie99: Thanks also for your comments.

johndg240: Well, I'm gonna show an aerial view below.

Well, I made an aerial view marked with some of the locations listed on the prior update(Calentia is out of the view, but just south on the Saucony Bridge).

    Halston, from above.

Hopefully this will whet your appetite until the next update.

    Halston: Replies

salut221: Thanks.  I'll try my best to keep it going 2.gif

johndg240: Sure, they'll be highway photos!  Heck, I already have plans to reconstruct the Central Expressway where it narrows and make it follow a straighter path.  I'll show the reconstruction sometime when I make downtown bigger.  I'll also tell you there is a large highway interchange with another highway(I-10) along I-35 just out of the picture to the north called "The Convergence".

Nik-nik: Thanks for your comments about Magnolia Park.  I plan for some nice eye candy there.  Just remember that this will have more technical elements in the future.

    jacqulina: Thanks.

Andres_age: I also must thanks for your comment.  The mall is available here: https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=12560

It might be a bit before I have the next update ready(I haven't played much since the last update), but hold tight.  I shouldn't update way too often, I guess.(so this will probably be enough time for you guys to handle)

Hey this is looking good! I like the way you placed smaller buildings to create an infill effect.
