Snow Trees

     Here's a quick question.  I'm trying to develop a mountain snow resort, and I wonder if there are any snow-capped trees around?

     Great, i'll look for it.  But I have one more question.  I've also been looking for the snow mod that changes the grass to snow, but all I have found is "take this link to the first edition" and it's not there.  I know I'm really lazy and igorant, but does anyone know where it might be?

     Oh...  I must be the world's biggest fool.  It doesn't work!  I installed the things that the readme said, but the white texture only shows up on the steepest slopes...  What do I do now?

Peg (and also, I think, Jeronij) has seasonal trees. Peg's are in a set called Peg's seasonal forests. They change with the seasons, and in the winter they lose their leaves. The effect can look almost snowy. Check 'em out. They may fit your needs. They're VERY well done. If you're looking for autumn color in any of your other cities, they're great for that, too. EDIT: Matthew, I think that's how it's supposed to work...only showing up on the steep slopes. That's how it did for me when I used it once.

     Dang...  Is there one that stays year round that dosen't depend on anything else.  And I will check the seasonal forests, thanks.

Pegasus made a snow mod that replaces the default terrain with snow textures at all elevations. His file also replaces the default Maxis lot textures and some of PEG's own textures:

I created a supplementary file that converts most of the BSC/CSX textures and a few other users' textures to snow: https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=14433. Since the release of my file, the BSC/CSX has released many more textures. So not all of their textures are covered by my file. I don't have time to work on expanding the file at this time, but I will probably do so around winter (November-Feburary).

     Oh...  man...   not...  again.  It's still not loading...  The trees work just fine, and I used all of the websites recommended, but they're still not working...  I even moved all my other plug-ins to another file to see if it works on its own, but nope...  Help!

Spacenut,

Only one terrain mod can be used at a time. The snow-capped mod and your non-snow terrain mod will have to be uninstalled. If you have a rock mod installed, you can leave that in place. Water mods that change the appearance of the game's water are also fine to leave installed.

If you could list the terrain files you have installed, I can help with the troubleshooting and help you get the snow mods working.

I'm very sorry.  (almost) Everything on this site requires Rush Hour. Go buy SC4 Deluxe att your local store. It's SC4 and Rush Hour together.
