the best and only way i know of to edit textures is through image editing software such as adobe photoshop or GIMP (i think thats what its called lol) and then the texture has to be applied in BAT/ Gmax.. a UV map always helps to get the best out of a texture..

soz for the short reply its geting late im sure somone can expand ^_^ also maybe this thread would have been better suited in the BAT Workstop forum? so in short i think the only way to edit textures on a model is on a bat.. i know no different =/

What kind of texture are you talking about? A lot base texture? Or a texture applied to a BAT model?

An external texture applied to a BAT that is already exported.

nope.....I think, technically you could manipulate the fsh files, but that would be more work than just recreating in GMax the BAT you want to change the textures to

No, it's 100% impossible, since that texture no longer exists on the model after you export it.

When the BAT is exporting somehting, what it's really doing is rendering the image of your BAT onto your LODs.  Then the game will display the LODs.  If you download iLive's reader (found in the modds and downloads section), and you open a .sc4model, you can see how the image of your BAT is put on the LOD.  It's really interesting.

The BSC texture mega pack are base and overlay textures for lots. They are not used to texture BATs in gmax. The original question asked I think was about how to alter textures on BATs once they are rendered, which is a completely different question.

What you want to do is a whole lot easier (but is quite off-topic for this forum, so I won't go into great detail here). Once you have made the textures in a graphics program (128x128 pixel bmp files), you have to convert them to fsh files using FiSHman or SC4 Tool. If you use SC4 Tool the right way it will create the dat files for you.

But please adhere to the Texture index to prevent conflicts and get a personal iid range for your Textures from the BSC texture index.

There are some good tutorials around on exactly how to do this - an old one by Dark Matter is on the Mods and Downloads page. I think Barbyw has written at least one more recent one. It may be in the BSC forum and the Texture index should be there also. There is also a brief tutorial in SC4 Tool help files.
