That is an excellent recreation of san fransisico

“The American city should be a collection of communities where every member has a right to belong. It should be a place where every man feels safe on his streets and in the house of his friends. It should be a place where each individual's dignity and self-respect is strengthened by the respect and affection of his neighbors. It should be a place where each of us can find the satisfaction and warmth which comes from being a member of the community of man. This is what man sought at the dawn of civilization. It is what we seek today.”

Thanks for the compliments guys, I appreciate 'em.

I've updated the "sneak peak" of the Financial District in a previous post of mine.. it's a wider shot of what follows below, same date.  My favorite part of this post is watching Columbus go south at the angle, then straigten out into Montgomery as soon as it hits the Transamerica Pyramid.

I'll post more pictures of downtown when it gets more developed.  For now here are two pictures of the Richmond District and to the south of it, the eastern part of Golden Gate Park.  When I finish the 'west' park I'll post close ups of the landmarks within.

Incredible, Simply Indcredible... I'll have to work hard to make my Seattle recreation up to the standard that you've set here.

Updated the transportation & regional overview maps.

I whipped up this little sucker this evening.  Gives you the "lay of the land" so to speak.  Haven't finished the Twin Peaks and half of the Sunset District, but it's getting there...

Awesome job dude. The roadmap really looks accurate. Now its just a matter of getting the density up in the right areas. I wish they had the rowhouses that they have in SF in this game.

I had some problems with density, after 1.2 million people on a large map.. development comes slowly.  But I found a solution, wherever I wish development to occur, I use the god tree tool.  After a few months, the area suddenly bursts into the highest development.  That is how I got the following downtown area to sprout up.

Awesome City. I am rebuilding the Bay Area myself but have to say that I fail the detail and beauty of this project by far.

Is it possible do download the region anywhere? I know it is a big file but I WANT IT SO MUCH ON MY COMPUTER!!!

    cheers

I use a lot of custom lots in this reigon.  So if/when I put it up for downloading a lot of the buildings won't show correctly.

I am just finishing up the Sunset District.  If you scroll back you'll see a picture of Hwy 1 running alongside Ocean Beach, with Noriega St extending to the east.  Here is the same area after being fully developed.

Great job so far! I'll definitely remember that god-mode tree trick for my own cities.

I just have one correction to make: the Great Highway in Sunset isn't really PCH anymore. Now, it's 19th Avenue.

I tried to post the upcoming pictures all in one post, but when I hit submit it acted like it worked but the new post did not appear.  I wasn't very pleased.

Here is a close up of downtown.  Almost to my liking, just needs to get a little denser.  A few of the landmarks I couldn't place exactly at the streets they would be in real life, but I got the TransAmerica Pyramid and the Pacific Stock Exchange where they would be.

This area is called Hayes Valley, it's the ultra ritzy housing west of the Financial District.

Lombard St. with the homes around it.  No one uses Lombard as a transportation route except the local residents.

Cow Hollow is also near Lombard St, but way west of the "Crookedest Street in the World" section.

Nice work dude, very impressive!  I live north of Seattle, and was down in San Fran for a road trip at the beginning of September and from ur pics, i spotted the building that represents the hostel we stayed at near Union Square, very cool to see it in the world of SimCity.  Only one thing, isn't the Bank Of America building oriented differently from how u have it? It may be becuase that was the only way u could fit it in, but anywayz, excellent re-creation of San Fran!! 2.gif

Yes it is oriented differently, 90 degrees exactly.  And you are right, that was the only way I could fit it in.  Glad to see you spotted a building you were familiar with, even though I didn't put it there on purpose. 2.gif

San Francisco has reached 1.6 million residents!  For this special occasion, I've decided to give you guys a very special picture that didn't take me too long, but I hope you guys like it.
