I have a AMD Athlon XP 3200+, 520 RAM,a Nvida GeForce FX 5200, Windows XP and plenty of HD space

When you update the game, make sure you do not run any programs. If you updated your game online, I find it better to update it manually. Re-install the game files, and run the update manually. Make sure you have the right SKU update. Think of it as DVD Regions.

Are you sure you have 520 MB of ram?

Make sure the update patch you use is for the same region as the game you have.

i have the same problem and have a patch the problem occured after i was cleaning my plugins folder and after i cleaned it i instaled deadwoods bus stops and a bus skin I am wel above minimum reqirerments for simcity4 deluxe

If you remove some plugins without bulldozing the lots first, that can cause cities to be unrecoverable.

All the bats i removed where buildings i haven't used in that city and the bus stop and bus skin aren't causing the problem Iam windows xp,my Cpu is a amd family 6 my Cpu speed is 1257MHz i have 60422MB of drive space my memory is 256Mb and i have directx9

256Mb of memory is the bare minimum for XP, but I don't think that is what is now causing you problems.

actually, 256MB is the bare minimum for SC4 on XP without any additional plugins. 512MB is the lowest amount of memory on XP that will actually run the game without random memory-related crashes.

@goldfish: Yes thats exactly one 8 MB ram modure along with one 512 MB ram module!!

yes, really. the bare minimum requirements for SC4 is 128MB. the bare minimum for Windows XP is 128MB. 128+128=256 Total. at it's barest, XP uses almost all of those 128MBs. at it's barest, SC4 uses a lot of the 128MBs. you may be able to run SC4 on 256MB, but know that that is the very bare minimum. graphics detail will need to be set to low, large and medium cities will cause tremendous lags, and the plugins folder should not be too large.

you should have said ya rly but i'll forgive you on that one. I know its the bare minimum but I can still play with 256mb you just don't play on cheetah.
