    I'm back from Vegas....had a crazy time.
Congrads to all Canadians on the World Cup of Hockey.
And updates are coming but due to the curvy roads of the newer nieghborhoods they will be slow.

    Edmonton in September

I was out Mountain Biking and took a few pics. Many didn't turn out well. But here are a couple.
I have been doing work on the region but its hard to give updates because on the region view there is little diff.
If anyone has any request please ask.

Any chance of a close-up on Millwood (the area in the SE corner)?
Also, I'd like to see a close up on the rail to the south of the city...

It looks amazing... tough to do without even building anything, lol.

ACEfanatic : as requested here are some pics of SE Millwoods and Pollard Meadows Park which I spent an hour on. I am just starting to use some zoning maps of the city. I don't know this park so if you see anything off please tell me. Aswell what area of the south side rail do you want to see? The rail yard along Calgary Trail? If so I'll brush it up a bit. I have some arial pics of it.

Impressive, JD. I really enjoy seeing the pictures of this region. I can't wait to see it with plenty of buildings...

I don't know much about Canadian cities, but this is excellent from what I've seen . I don't think I could have this much patience to put as much detail into this as you did.

    keep up the great work!44.gif

    Edmonton Sept 29th
I spent a few hours going over Millwoods. Building more curvy roads that drive me nuts. But some good progess. Plus I put in some farms just to get a feel for how the region will play out. With my zone map of Edmonton I have found a higher level of detail possible. Right down to every building type, park, public area, and even where heavy power lines are. Here are a few pics.

Your CJ is so realistic. I could not do something like this. Its so much harder to make a copy of something than it is to invent it on your own. Loving your work!

This is my first time posting in this forum, but as an Edmontonian and coming across on the home page in the news area about the city of Edmonton, I had to check it out.

Wow! Awesome work and what detail! My home city is Edmonton and I've lived here and in surrounding communities since 1970. Only from 1993 until 1998 did I move away. But, in the end, home was home and I came back.

I live near the downtown area, just a few mere blocks from the Commonwealth Stadium. I work downtown within 3 different jobs. One of those jobs has me across the street from the Greyhound Bus Terminal. I walk back and forth quite often between home and work and it is through a less than desirable part of the city.

The downtown area is becoming really artsy, and the redevelopment of Churchill Park looks like it's finally going into it's final stages.

So with the work you're doing, are you also going to be working on the Storyland Valley Zoo and Fort Edmonton Park? Those will be neat to see. West Edmonton Mall in itself is going to be a major project, but it's cool to see a fellow Edmontonian take such pride in our city. I love it!

I'm definitely going to be keeping an eye on this thread. Thanks, Jersey, for sharing. I can't wait until the project is complete.

Ryshtyan : Thanks for the reply. 15 pages is alot to catch up on. But the CJ is a hand made and accuratly measured region. I dont BAT buildings so for West Ed, Zoo, and Fort Edmonton I have to find simular buildings, be creative, or find someone who can help BAT.
I used to work in a welding shop part time years ago by the York Hotel so I can imagine what kind of walks home you must have sometimes. If you have any questions or request just ask. 11.gif

ok , i just have one thought here im guessing that the population after zoneing Might turn out to be more than the actual city population?

Edit:Oh those farms you put arnt they like some experimental farms for the U of A correct me if im wrong (it says that on the go-pages map)

Vigo : Its very possible that the population will be higher then the actual real region of 1 million. And those are not the experimental farms just south of the university. If you look on the picture it shows the address which is the SE area of Millwoods. I could or should do the University Farms soon. That area of the map is nearly finished. 11.gif

This is the most realistic looking map I've seen that was based on a an accurate scale of a real city. Great job!44.gif

As a fellow Edmontonian I have to say.....Wow! You've inspired me to put a little more effort into my road networks, as others have said, the realism is amazing. I think I may start pouring over some maps for ideas.

Feepa : I'll get you some pics of each one of those areas. The Whitmud area will be changed several times to get the look right. But some work has been done there.

    Thanks for the request. 11.gif
