Funny you mentioned that.....For now I am thinking of using the black hole garbage lot. I have even placed it in my downtown area.......Thanks for responding to one of my problems I need to solve.....Having a super lot would be perfect......I'll have to ask a few members of the Modd Squad.11.gif

Nice to see someone again trying a real city and even nicer to see I'm the inspiration. If you need any help with Hong Kong just ask......That will be an interesting region to do. A few people have started there own regions lately of realistic cities....each has its own challenges.
No problem... I can already foresee that I will need the same super lot in the near future. I'm going to have the same problem, especially with the small-sized cities. And the terraforming tips that you posted earlier on in the thread will be very helpful for me - terraforming the mountainous terrain of Hong Kong is going to be a pretty tough challenge!

This is just a rough making of the Rossdale area. I would like to find a few buildings that fit the area a little better......11.gif

This is right across from the last update and is a little more accurate. Close to being to what I want for this area. Doing Walterdale Hill and Queen E Park Drive was a challenge getting the slopes just right. Anything to do with the river valley is extremely hard and time consuming. Also just south of the Park is the kinsmen Pitch and Put somewhat hidden by the valleys slope.11.gif

    -June 15th Update-

This update includes many areas. I have been jumping all over the city the last few days working on expanding areas. Some areas with ravines, the river, or many curved roads slowed me down. The further out in the city the more curved roads there are and the harder it becomes to measure and work out a scale.11.gif

Looks great, any chance I can get a shot of the capilano area?

The area I am wondering is the mall area and just to the north (101st Ave, 62st).

    LOL

TJD, I'll nominate you a trixy for Best Unoccupied Region

You must be following some very good diagrams to get the roads so exact. I don't blame you for whenever you get scale problems.

And let's hope that you can get those buildings you need to fill those empty spaces.

    Keep up the great job

Pizza Steve, I need to know appox. what address in that area you want to see. Give me an address a block or so from your house and I can take a pic of that area. Only reason I ask is that area is spilt up over 5 squares.
I was piecing together several pics today. When I saved the city I exsited to paste the picture.....When I returned to the game all of highlands was gone! Even the terraforming. BUt since Ive done alot of work lately I backed up the region last night. I'm lucky....that would have been a shitty way to start today.
If anyone wants to see any area made so far just ask and I'll post that pic. Or if you want to see a change an idea or area to work towards just ask.
Its peoples interest that keeps me flying threw this region lately.11.gif

    -June 16th Update-

I'm making my way south on Gateway Blvd. An industrial strip inbetween alot of residential areas. Also as Gateway Blvd heads south it converts into Highway 2 which heads to Calgary. On the map is some major roads I highlighted.
Choices: Should I develope area A or B first. Both should be basic and only take a day or two to make.

Woah... this region is super-impressive as always. The detail and the accuracy of the transport infrastructure is simply mind-boggling... I wouldn't have the patience to hand-measure all the roads and railways if I were to build this city. 5.gif

    Hey Jersey-

Is it necessary that you have a lot that includes all of those cheats? I'm just wondering becuase there is a great mod availabe here by raphaelninja and tropod that does basically what you are asking only it uses the ordinances menu. It's pretty handy. I use it all the time to remove some of the monotony of having to mess with fire/police/schools/clinic/etc... every other block.

I say doing A will help you do B, but it doesn't really matter.....

Thanks for the idea Newmen.....I may just use that mod. But I am always ify on mods. I have had bad experiences. Plus I don't want the mod for every region. I know its an on/off type deal so it wouldnt or shouldnt effect other regions. And also a lot is easy to plop down.

Thanks for those who replied on the choices. I got 2 B's and 2 somewhat A's. Guess I'll go with B and join the two areas. I'm also going to post a few more choices I need to make along this CJ and use everyones opinion to shape the region. B area (Bonniedoon/Argyll area) should take 2 days to do.....Dont know if I'll have any time tonight. Also I'm going to take some pictures of park ideas for school yards and see what everyone thinks I should use 11.gif

Calgary trail....is the South Road and Gateway Blvd is the north. Anything North of 23rd ave will be to seperate Avenues. And south of 23rd avenue will be highway. I have made Gateway Blvd South past the Whitemud Freeway (which isnt there at the moment) and Calgary trail hasnt been laid that far south yet. Its still ten blocks behind, If you look at the Whyte Ave area you can see both of these major roads and as the new area heads south you can see what I mean....Also I cant use 2 one way roads for both directions like it should be and like I would want to.....The reason is one way streets wont continue in the next map. So how do I run a major road or 2 thats one way threw 3 or 4 maps?? Another problem using ST. So using two seperate avenues seemed the only choice. When I build maps or areas I lay the major roads first.....Calgary trail (south) curves alot....I just didn't take the time to lay that out last night....Well be done in the next week most likely to the south end of the map.11.gif

    -Choice #2-

Before I lay down the choice I should explain what the basic Soccer and Baseball diamond looks like in Edmonton.
-Soccer Feilds- are usualy two goal post (without nets). 90% dont have the lines even drawn on them. Most are in open feilds and do not include the SC lot trees or benches. The are basicly two nets and grass.
-Baseball Diamond- are usualy only the backstop. Never any dugouts/shelters, rarely a sand infeild, rarely a bench, never sarounded by its own fence. Basicly a backstop and home plate.

Didn't do much tonight. You can see a little diff in the B area lol. And for the update by request -not another transportation map- so here is the entire region as viewed. The reason I show the transportaion map is you can see/notice all the side roads which are a lare part of the work I put into it. 11.gif

I like you methodic approach to developing the overall layout of the city first and running the simulator later.

Keep it up, I am keeping track of you CJ for a while now and I check every day for updates!

I have a question (to anyone who knows): is your normal region view a composite image or is there a way to take a screenshot of the whole region? My screen is not big enough to view the whole region at the same time...
