game wont save

today i built a city (on a mediun tile) and after i got finished i went to save it but when i hit save and exit (to region) nothing happened. i kept clicking save but nothing happened. it does not do this all the time but it sucks when it does. any help?          p.s. when i do click save nothing happens but i do hear this deep little noise everytime i click it???

I haven't heard a problem like this, but interesting.  You could check in Windows Explorer to see if the file did save and the game is not responding.

can you post your system specs? it may be possible that the game is hanging when trying to save.

sounds like a bug...does the save city (disk icon) work? I never save and exit to region, I can almost guarantee a crash every time

Instead of Save and Quit try an in-game save (CTRL+s).  If it does a save you get a positive notification.

This game produces multiple extent files like crazy.  When did you last defragment your disk?

well i did the ctrl-alt-delete and my task manager said that sim city was not responding. maybe that has something to do with it?

SC4 is definitely hanging while trying to save. post your system specs, something tells me your computer doesnt have enough umph to fully handle SC4.

i can already tell you that your system doesn't even meet the minimum system requirements for SC4, let alone the requirements on Windows XP. if you want to play SC4 on Windows XP, the minimum required RAM is 512MB, because XP needs more resources than earlier versions of windows.

so the most likely cause for the system hang during save: your computer doesnt have enough memory to propery perform the save function.
