What about the RAM? Have you got enough RAM?

How much free space have you got on the C: Drive (or equivalent depending on where 'My Documents' is.

's a good system...but a BSOD is definitely an OS issue....have you tried an XP clean reinstall?

Please don't bump your thread - I'm sure someone will be able to help, but you have to give people more than 3 hours! 4.gif

You could always do a repair install of XP instead of a complete reinstall... if you do it correctly you won't lose anything.

if you disable your network, and the error changes to a reboot, you definately have a hardware/driver issue with your machine, its not "caused" by simcity, it is just "visible with simcity running, since sc4 is not a "network" capable game, and you mentioned the "onboard" sound, I suspect a conflict between your sound drivers/chip and nic (network) drivers/card, but that is just a guess, you could try disableing your sound drivers, but at this point is beyond the scope of what we troubleshoot here, but as I always say, "when in doubt, format and reinstall"

Try updating your motherboard drivers and your sound drivers.

You might also try resetting your processor to its stock clock speed (as far as I know, 2.7Ghz is not a standard AMD clock speed). SC4 is a very processor intensive game, so if there is any instability resulting from an overclock, you'll see it.

Yorkie: You didn't say if you used mods, or custom lots with the game. If you do one of those could be the cause. Try the game without the recent plugins you have added.

thanx for the elp peeps .. It would seem to be a hardwear / driver prob as it runs on my sons machine. But for the life in me i dont know what is causing it... even a reluctant clean sheet did not do the trick .. and its got all updated drivers for every thing .. including my mobile phone lol ..

I have been trying it out with various mods and also vanilla sc4 but with the same results .. ..

Would buying rush hour help solve the problem or would it be a waste of cash ...

t.i.a peeps

p.s sry about the bump 4.gif just so frustrating

You Could try and move your plugins from the plugins folder to another say "plugins 2 " folder. Delete the city or region you are having problems with than try a different or new totally blank region or city and just carry on with the game as usual and see if crashes if not it probably is a plugin which is conflicting somewhere. Than comes the long process of tryign to find out which one it is.

It's possible that one of the bug fixes in Rush Hour would solve the problem. Regardless, if you can afford Rush Hour (and have faith that you'll eventually solve the problem), you should buy. It adds so much to the game, plus you will have access to a much wider range of downloads here.
