Obselete Memory Problem

I have a pc running on 512 MB of RAM. All I bothered to rememberabout the memory was that the speed was 3200. So I got DDR 3200, only to find that it's DDR2 3200. All they sell these days is DDR2 4200. So, what do I do now? I'm looking for something that I can just pick up at the store, not on the internet. Thanks in advance.

I think having a stick of PC4200 along with your PC3200 shouldn't cause any compatibility issues as long as the other specs aren't too different. Both sticks would just run at the slower clock speed.

PC4200 is backwards compatible. so just get DDR2 PC4200, it'll work.

DDR2 will not plug into a DDR socket, they have different pinouts.  You can mix speeds, but not types.

Fry's handles memory, if you have one where you live.  Circuit City might have what you are looking for.

EDIT:  to make use of the DDR [double data rate], or the DDR2 you need two identical module's, one in each memory bank, there you can't mix speeds.
