Hey! I'd be happy to help, it took me a while as well to get used to how to make them.

First off you the the hole digger mod designed around all the sunken highwall wall texts.

Here is the link to that mod https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=3599

When you open the game after you intall the pulgin, select the trasit button, then selet the misc trans button (the one with the bus and sub) Scroll down to the bottom and you will see the different hole digging devices. You must select the sunken hw digger (it is labled as such). After you select it, lay the lots down every other tile, keep in mind the arrow must be going in the same direction at all times. After you lay out the tiles, select the roads tool and lay a straight line of road ovre the top of the dig tiles. Select the street tool and level the area out. (in order to lay a highway it MUST be two tiles wide, a road only makes it one, this is where the street leveling comes in at).

After you level the area and have placed the HW you can build the walls.

Here is a link to some excellent texts https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?page=1&keyword=Rural&type=all

It will take a while to perfect the texts to how you built your HW, but with time, as I learned you can build them effectivly. What I usually do is use a avenue rather than a HW since they are easier to integrate with roads, but its up to you of course its your city.

I hope this helps you.

Are you talking about my tutorial? Well, simply, I was using "whip" to mean take out. I guess I didn't take into consideration that many people from different countries would be reading it. Pit means the hole you made. If you have any more questions, just post here.

Starting the sunken hwy is the easy part, I just can't get my bridges to go smoothly across.

yeah the bridges look silly if you draw them, if you use the puzzle pieces they look alright though

That's my problem, can't get the puzzle piece to lay flat, it raises up the terrain. Not sure if I'm using wrong piece or what, an image would be helpful but can find any.

smstevenms... A couple suggestions...

Be sure you are using the Hole Digger lot for the type of transportation network you are wanting to build. There are different ones to be used for different depths depending on the network. Also, be sure you are using the correct puzzle pieces for your network. You need the on-slope and overpass pieces. If you are doing this correctly and it still isn't working, you might try to post an in-game image of what the problem is. Hope this helps.

Ok so heres the images: The first one shows it wont lay out without removing the road tiles (this might be normal, I don't know).

file_ico.gif

The second I removed the road tiles and you see how the road isn't going to lay flat.

file_ico.gif

The Third Is laid and as you can see not the entended affect.

This forth image is a rail bridge mod, this one plots nicely but when I try to put rail across same thing happens as with the nam road pieces. I tried to use the rail puzzle piece & used the tab but I'm only able to place one (which won't let me run the rail across the bridge with out raising the terrain).

Edit I Figured this one out.44.gif

I noticed that you are using the wrong knd of bride in your pictures ( couldn't get them to load earlier) You are using the road over avenue bridge, which is not for sunken highways. What you need to do is use individual puzzle pieces. Go down the road menu a little farther, and you should see road puzzle pieces, cycle through using TAB until you get to a road over avenue, and place that over the avenue, then place the road bridge straight (i think that is what its called) on either side of what you just plopped to complete the bridge The second piece should be neat the end of the TAB cycle before the new curved and 45 degree roads.

Thank the heavens17.gif, I did it. But For some reason the texture isn't looking right for this rail bridge15.gif. I tried using the 14m hole digger but that didn't work then I tried the 15m HWY H.D. (image below), and you see the bridge still looks raised. Is this suppose to look like that (not sure you have this or not), or if it just a tech issue that needs to be fixed? If anyone might know that would be cool.

Edit: Xyloxadoria, Just noticed your post, and although I figured it out, that totally makes sense and would have guided me in the right direction so thank you.

Edit: I just realized I need to keep the images I upload or the images won't be here. RELOADED

Remember that to use the 15m digger to make the puzzle pieces look nice. The problems I've had with lowering/elevating terrain when I drop the puzzle pieces is that changing the camera angle fixes it all. (Why this works, I don't know.) Come to think of it, this is a bug that can be fixed. I'll probably end up starting another post on the Bugs/Technical Issues forum.

Smsstevenms: That's not a NAM puzzle piece, which is why it doesn't match. The designer of the bridge either made the base texture or the lot itself that way so there's the gap you're seeing. My best bet would be, uh... use another bridge? 3.gif

schm0, that stinks. I know its not one of the nam pieces but I had to use the nam pieces to make it function. I would have thought whoever made it(dont know off hand), made it with the nam in mind. Oh well guess I'll try something else. Do you have any suggestion? thanks.
