Roads, unlike other sc4 lots, are not lots. They are networks, and cannot be modified in the lot editor. To edit roads and other networks such as highway, rail, and avenue, you must have knowledge of either texture making or t21 modding. Good luck!

1. i'm working on a lot but i used and existing lot, a "blank lot", aparently in use. How do i change the name for the building?

2. where or how do i make a lot in the landmark menu have jobs like a buisness?

3. how do i get rid of lots i dont want in the lot editor?

1. This is easily done with the iLive Reader or LE Prop programs. LE Prop is easier in my mind, but it doesn't matter which one you use.

2. There is a tutorial for that on the Omnibus, I've only used it for BATs, but it should work with lots, too. You'll need the Plugin Manager, just a heads up.

If you want to delete a lot that you made, go to the

My Documents> Simcity 4> Plugins folder

and select the lot you want to delete, then press the 'delete' button, of course.

Though you cannot delete lots in the Lot editor itself, this is the method used to delete any plugin.

42.gifsry, another question, i want the plugins manager Edit: that kind of discussion is not permitted on this site - sam.  It is included in the BAT so i try to get that but i must be registered. On the site it links me to doesn't have the dl im looking for, so i need the plugins manager32.gif. JUST the plugins manager, because that's all I want...

Don't even bother with the Simcity 4 website. I had the same problem, and I ended up on Simtropolis.

Anyways, the "Get Your Maxis Files Here!" article has the Maxis files without you needing to register. Here's the link from the fifth page; it goes to Simtrop's sister site, which has the file you need. I believe one of the files is just the Plugin Manager.

Okay, yeah, it's the fourth download.

Simcity Devotion is a great website, you can trust it.

I wish I was more in depth with their community...

i am making a personal mod for my own use, i want to REPLACE the maxis parks with something better i made, but when i make and save it, it just creates an ADDITIONAL lot, that goes in my plugins folder, so how do i get it to replace it? ???

@LEO -- As far as I know, it is not possible to replace some original Maxis buildings -- and for good reason.  Technically, I suppose it could be accomplished by using iLive's Reader to copy some of the default Maxis data into a new park to create a lot that overrides the original, but the result would probably not be favorable.  Any instance of the Maxis park that currently exists in a city would be affected by the chages, but not all the changes.  The base textures would immediately reflect the new choices, but the props most likely would not update unless the lot is bulldozed and re-plopped.  If you change the size of the lot, that could cause serious problems, possibly invading tiles already occupied by neighboring buildings.  Also, changes to the non-physical properties of the park (such as park effect and radius, water/power consumption, pollution reduction, etc.) would probably not take effect unless it was re-plopped.  Using the Reader to change base textures is about the only thing that I can say for certain would have no adverse effects.  All my default recreational lots now have matching grass so they don't look ridiculous when plopped next to one another, but it's still more fun to create totally new lots.

In general, if the Lot Editor won't let you replace a default lot, leave it alone and create a new, unique lot.  Then bulldoze the old one and plop the new one in its place.  If you know you will not be using the Maxis recreational lots, you can move them out of your way to the very bottom of the parks menu with this mod by Jeronij.

... I dont have any placed maxis parks in my cities, and the parks would be the same size, they would just have transpaernt lots, and pine/seasonal trees, and better props. Or could i just use the maxis parks remove from menu mod?

The mod I linked to doesn't remove the parks from the menu, it just pushes their icons to the bottom, out of your way.  Despite the fact that you are not currently using them in any cities, it is generally not a good idea to replace Maxis default buildings.  To do so would require more modding than it's worth -- simply ignoring the unwanted in-game lots is so much easier than going to all the trouble of overriding them.  You can replace some (maybe all?) reward buildings by putting together a new lot in LE, and your new creations will override the default rewards.  This works great for eliminating the flora bug on the City Hall, or giving the Mayor Mansion an overhaul.  Other than that, I'd leave the default content alone.  Adding custom props or textures to a default building could lead to problems if you ever need to clear out your plugins folder to do troubleshooting in vanilla mode.

Small question. I created bat models rendered it and with plugin manager I put it in landmark categorie but they wont show up when I try to replace existing building using Lot Editor. They are not on the list. Some appear on the list some not. I try to make them as props but still they wont show up. What is the problem this time?

last days i have editd 170 lots, mostly changing ground textures. It are plopable lots i changed. today i moved them to my game pc (orginel files on laptop where editing took place deleted). and only 52 of the 170 lots are now showing up ingame and in the LE.

I tested on normal conditions

I tested with all other plugins removed.

i tested with and without the orginal lots there.

Then i looked further in to it and i can not seem to open te edited lots that are not working in Ilives reader or SC4 tool. But i can open the edited lots that are working ingame and in LE.

I looked into the file sizes and they are not much different in to the orginal lots and the not edited lots.

Furthermore i tried to edit a not working lot again from the orginal lot and saved it, and now it appears to be working...

What could be wrong here. why are 120/170 lots not working :s i have put may hours (days) of work in editing them :s. And how can i fix this and prefent it from happening again?

could it be because of the moving of the files (normally not as far as i know).

No. If you made 170 lots and had 170 files in your plugins folder on your first computer and now you have 170 lot files in your plugins folder on your second computer then that's not the problem. Unless you moved the wrong 170 files.

As to why some are working and some aren't, that's impossible to tell without more information and some examples. You haven't mentioned what kind of lots you were editing, what files you modified them from and what modifications you tried to make. This is very important information to know in trying to work out what might have gone wrong.

Usually it is best not to modify lots in bulk like this. It is usually better to do a few, play with them and test them a bit and then do some more. And backups are essential. Even when you think you've got the lot working properly.

I'd suggest testing them in batches and trying to isolate what is in common with all the not working ones (eg were they all the one kind of lot, created after a certain time? etc)

I have a question about raise/lowering props, I know how to raise them but is it possible to lower a prop past its bottom point?

2-3 years back I was able to edit the radius of different buildings cause I find it unrealistic to have certain buildings who only cover a very little area

Now with this lot editor (which I thought was able to do this) I can't seem to edit the lot properties.

Do I need another program for this?

Yes you will need to use Ilive's Reader to do this. The Lot Editor has never been able to edit building properties. If the item is a custom BAT and you have the descriptor file you may be able to use the Plug In Manager to change the numbers.

However remember to keep the radius a multiple of four or there can be problems occur in your game.

I am trying to make lot on Town Hall base, and I placed invisible building gnome from the menu then i put building as prop, and save it. But it wont show up on game menu. Same thing happened with buildings on university lots.

just one problem

I've got some lots I cant edit for some reason (like the seaport, ferry, and train stations)

when I go to edit them, it says I dont have some plugins installed but they work just fine in game... so is there something I have to download? What I really want to do is make train stations where the tracks run through the lot

The Town Hall and Univesity lots are Reward Lots, and are Save As only becsue of that. Any changes you make to the lot will overwrite the existing university, not create a new one.  If you plop the university it should have the changes you made.

And the Invisible building gnome wont appear in game becsue as the name infers, it is invisible

Later,I enterd The game,Build the Small Airport I created And insted of that,

A big brown box had show up

I'm currently making a lot that hugs part of my coastline. I have a number of questions about the process if anyone can provide assistance.

1. Which direction do the water and land tiles need to be facing?  Here's a pic showing the way I have the tiles facing. (All the same direction, which is the opposite direction as the road [LE} and the water [in game.])

As is, I wasn't able to plop it, so I'm assuming I have to spin the tiles marked either land or water.

Also, What about the base textures used on the water tiles. Should I stick with the grassy, muddy texture I'm working with? Will it be blatantly obvious in shallow water? I'm using a Muddy water Mod, so it's already pretty brown. I imagine if I could just get it plopped correctly, I could play around with textures after. Here's another pic for reference.

The road in the LE is where the road is in the game. So if you put your water tiles where they are, the road is under water. You need your land along your road, and your water along the far side. Also you only need one water tile constraint to make it placeable in water. However, you should put a water constraint tile wherever the lot needs to be in water.

Also, you have to leave one tile for the actual transition from land to water. You cannot place on a transitional tile any tile that has a land or water constraint (a transitional tile qualifies as neither land nor water). From the above it looks like you have a fence, but the tiles immediately next to them have water constraints, and you have land constraints immediately next to water constraints, ie you haven't allowed for the sloping bank. (not forgetting it should all be on the other side of the lot anyway.

Also, on land/water lots you should not use overlay textures, as that will contribute to the "beach bug". You should either use suitable base textures to start with, or learn how to remove them in the Reader (by no means easy with as many as you have there).

Hello all, hope you can be of some assistance. I'm still a bit of a rookie  when it comes to the LE and I am wondering why the program wont let me "save as" when working with the RMIP airport pack? I am attempting to add planes as props to various runway and taxiway pieces but my only option is to save. I would like to avoid this at all costs as I dont want to replace the original work. Your help is much appreciated.
