Game Kicks me back to the desktop

Everytime I load Simcity, the game kicks me back to the desktop when I am playing the game.  It does this everytime and randomly.  I am not doing one specific thing when I get kicked off the game.  I am using Simcity Deluxe Edition.  If anyone can help me that would be spectacular.

Mine does that too Hgpthe3rd, we're suppose to clean up our plugins folder and that's suppose to help. I don't know about you but 1) that is going to be a lot of work and 2) it sounds really boring, so....

Vicky, you don't really need to do that if you still have some VM space.  What is your paging file set to?  John

Hi...I have a similar problem.....I am rebuilding my city of Port Edward, using the NanaimoSouth region. Everything is going well, with the exception of the following: I have just placed Warfside1 beside my Harbour, and the game immediately kicks out! I reloaded, and did the same thing and again the game kicks out. Fortunately for me, it doesn't save, so when I re-enter I can continue rebuilding as long as I do not use Warfside1....does anyone know why? Is there tainted fish stored in the buildings?

You have probably got an incompatibility problem caused by the limited number of reference numbers available for lots.  Unless someone comes up with a fix for this lot, I would tend to forget it in this region.  Have you tried it in a sandbox region?

I have the game kick me to desktop occasionally and I don't think I have any setup problems.. I have the game running almost all the time I am doing whatever just cause I dont' want to stop and reload it.. so it's often on 24 hrs a day 7 days a week, though its in "pause" a lot of course.. But still about 1 or 2 times a week it will crash.. I have not kept statistics, but I believe it normally occurs when I click a menu item (not even an addon.. just one of the old buttons on the left margin in mayor mode.. I think the game just has some quirks that dump u off ond on..

But I think N_O is right about your case.. sounds like some problem with a plugin ..

His word "sandbox" just means a "trash region" (or to "play around" like u did when a kid in a real "sand box.. hehe) u generate a plain region with no purpose but to test new plugins or lots or even whip over to it to try out something without spending your city money.. for example say u wanted to try a sunken highway and wanted to be sure u knew the steps to do it before ripping up your city..

I just lost about 8 hours of "work" the other day because mine dropped to desktop.. my problem is i get intent on what I'm doing and watching stuff and forget to save.. LOL.. remember to save!! Hope you find your problem.. I am sure you will.

Thanks!!....all great suggestions, the 'sandbox' region is a good idea, I'm going to use that as now I test everything in my existing cities, and of course I do not get it right the first time....especially the Road and Rail puzzle pieces, so I waste alot of money in doing this! However, like a typical real North American city, I just raise the taxes to recoup from my incompetence!

Hey N O , SC4 Dlux, loads to region. Click on Any city and it crashes back to desktop. I DLed all the dependecy mods for the sunken HiWay, but over looked the Nam. Finally found the Nam mod, installed, but still does same thing. You asked John about paging file size. Mine is 1536 MB. What do you recommend? BTW, I've looked through all of my plugins and don't see any flags. I did take out some I thought might cause conflict, but still no good. What do you think?

Depends.  Make your paging file initial size 3 times your RAM size or 4096 whichever is less.

Move all of your plugins to the desktop (make a pluginsholding folder there) and try the game.

OK Now that I did your suggestions, the game runs. Now I have "no text in file" with all tickers that come up. go to the "?" tool hold over item and get some crazy info, but not what the item is. Have also added some plugins back and restart game. still runs but still getting wild words, ("no text in file"), in addition to the news ticker, and no info about whatever I point to.

Good afternoon N_O_Body. I checked out the thread and thte only thing I saw was maybe because of the NoCD exe file. Well I shot that down yesterday when I changed the exe file back to the original. The same thing happened as mentioned in the last few posts. I think that I will go ahead and delete and reinsatll SC4Deluxe Edition. Yes it is a legal copy sent to me from EA due to problems with the copies the my local EB retailer had with his whole batch of Deluxe Editions they had. I just don't like to play any game with the play disk loaded. Anyway I do appreaiciate all your help. aj
