I get alot of those Chaos of Chars complaints.  How do I eliminate them, sugested public transit layout.  I have buses on every avenue, a subway, and a monorail in my city.  It has 185,000 people in it.

Thanks 4.gif

It depends on what version your have.  Tell us more about your machine and your game.

You should look into the Network Addon Mod (NAM).  You can get it from the Modds & Downloads section for your machine.  There are two versions: Mac and PC.

ya...NAM does MUCH help on relieving the traffic...just give it a try...

apart from that... I'll suggest that you should give a review on the subway system

subway can be the major artery of your public transport...

n u may try to place some bus stops next to the subway station to boost their usage...

    just my little opinion

    hope this helps ^^

with simcity mods are definetely a good thing. And most if not all are safe and dont wreck the game.

I think that I see kingneb point here.

Most of the mods seems to be there to help majors, which means that they do make the game easier.

But I want a challenge, a real challenge, and Sim City 4 at hard level is already easy.

The perfect mod for me is something that gives you more possibilities without making your life directly easier or more difficult.

Mantees, but that is exactly what the NAM does in my opinion. It makes the game more realistic by giving it a working and realistic comune and transport system without making the game much easier. It also adds thousands of transport additions which add nothing but realism. With the NAM you can have pedestrian malls, trams, overpasses, more intersections and so much more stuff. This makes the game much more realistic and more fun to play!

Keep your minds open guys, and experiment with simcity.

    Cheers, choco.

NAM may make the game more fun, but it does make the game easier. Let's assume you're using the 2x commute option and 2x capacity. Here's just a few ways it's easier:

    1. You get much more income from mass transit fares (up to twice the amount). Traffic goes further with the 2x commute, and mass-transit fares are determined by the distance that sims travel on the bus or train (not an entry fare). So, NAM = free money.

    2. You don't have to pay for as many roads and the upkeep costs.

    3. You're less restricted on zoning (don't have to keep residents and jobs so close). This means you can create more desirable concentrated areas with less costs and upkeep for parks, etc.

You can minimize the 'cheat' aspect of the NAM by sticking with the most conservative settings.

NAM does help, if you are going to create a large city I mean 900k plus, then public transportation is key. Even then you will always have traffic problems. I think my worst intrsection is a eight lane one way system heading into the heart of downtown and it has over 15,000 cars on it, excluding buses. The funny thing is that I have a train station beside the intersection with almost 40,000 sims using it. So NAM does help, because if I didn't have the one way puzzle pieces my eight lane interchange would not be possible, and I would have one packed avenue.

You are given options to check when you install the NAM. If you want to change the settings, you need to re-install the NAM.

I would also recommend a very careful reread of the optional stuff in the documentation.
