    Vester:

I was using a multiplier of 1.5 with only one light, but I wasn't happy so I added two more and I had to lower the multiplier. For the parking and bike station I'm using 1.5

    Today's progress....

    a1bd230c.jpg

I added the lamps and signs. The signs are really hard to see but believe me they are there!!! 9.gif

Please let me know what you think, and if I should leave it like this. If you guys aprove it then I will probably be sending the model to Swamper tomorrow so he can make the custom LODs 35.gif

I really wish there were an emoticon for thunderous applause, because this model deserves it! Great job, Brenda! I'm sure this station will get plenty of use in Nyhaven once it's released.

I think You need to move the end roof supports back into the corners

Add some bike racks (just some metal archs with maybe a loop in the middle)

And instead of having the buses come in perpendicular to the station, have them pull in parallel to the station so they can pull back out easily. One on each side of the station would be good to help simulate different bus routes.

They are just my ideas of course. Take what you will

A lot of people have asked me to move the roof supports back into the corners so I did 4.gif

The bike racks will be add later as props (They will be as a dependency)

I'll try to see if I can do the parallel bus because it may not fit in the space that I currently have.

I'm working on setting up the nightlights when I'm done I'll post a picture 43.gif

Well that is my experience, better have several ligths, instead of one. I make instance of the first, so I only have to change the lights in one place.

And of cource I am looking forward for some updates, that should go without saying.

EDIT: For some reason I can't get the quoting to work.42.gif

Oh, you added them back? Ewww! If you do that, you need to make sure there aren't 3 supports in order, keep the one skip one, in place.

    Other than that, Approved

Brenda: Maybe you should take a vote: As is or put back the supports on the corners! You can count me in on leaving them out! =) It seems many like the way the station is!

Voting is a good idea =P

Who wants to vote to have the roof supports back in the corners and who wants to leave them as they are now (in the pictures) ???

I'll be taking votes 'til I'm finish adding the nightlights ^_^

I vote for having the supports in the corner,

or moving the others one section in (new postion mark with red):

    a1bd230cno2.jpg

In real life, you would not use the lifts as support, becauce it has different movement (due to temperatur). I for myself would never use it. Maybe in rare cases.

What about lowering the lift house, so there are clearing between it and the roof ?

While you guys are voting I would like to ask your opinion about the nightlights 43.gif

Note: The roof was rendered separately

A little to bright for my taste, especially the lifts and the bike store should lowered a lot.

I like nightlight in the bike store in the top post on page 6. A bit brighter version of that, where you still can see the details within.

Just looking down the page 6, I found this picture. I like the light in that one on the platform. A bit brighter maybe.

But I vote for leaving the colums where you have them!

    Is this a little better?

    cf37002b.jpg

I haven't been able to leave the lights as the one in page 6 because that render was done in Max and I had to put the model in GMAX so the custom LODs can be make. I tried using the same values for the lights in GMAX but they didn't come out right x.x Also GMAX keeps forgeting to apply the textures x.x

Turn down the lights a notch. In the shops at ground level a little more than on the plat. The parking also needs to be turned down. What about adding so lights to the signs over the intrance to the parking ?

Ah yes, the second nightlight render is a lot better. For some reason, the parking garage entrance is too bright now, though. It should look like in the first rendering. Regarding the supports, I like vester_DK's idea with moving them alltogether and shorten the elevator shafts a bit, so they won't touch the roof.

    Another Update:

    d304e050.jpg

Couldn't figure out how to light up the parking signs x.x

I tried putting a target light but it didn't look ok x.x

As for the votes now we have 3 proposals:

1.- Leave the supports as they are (1 vote)

2.- Move them back into the corners (1 vote)

    3.- Vester's proposal (2 votes)

To light up the signs use a target spot. Under Spotlight Parameters choose it to be Rectangle instead of circle. The use the Hotspot and aspect to get it to hit the sign and just the sign.

If It do walls onto the wall used the Decay abit further down. Here I use Inverse. Click on show, when you doing the settings.

Very nice station you’ve going here!!!

One thing is puzzling me though… Why do did you have to export it to GMAX? To make custom LODs? You can do that in MAX just as good, actually better since it has more advanced instruments. And then you wouldn’t have those problems…

As for supports, my vote would go for Vesters suggestion. It will make the whole station look more coherent, more to scale. Scale discrepancies are at this moment the only thing that catches my eye (problem wise). Those huge unabridged expanses of glass on the roof make the whole thing appear smaller. If you subdivide them I think it will make the whole structure look more substantial.

    EDIT:

    About lighting parking lot sign.

If you will be doing export in MAX you have quite a few options:

    1. self illuminating material
    2. Lights either targeted or direct – that doesn’t really make any difference. What makes is that you exclude everything else from illuminations list and leave there only your sign. This way, for instance you can light up ALL signs and other things you what one side of your model (presuming this will me color neutral lighting)

Thank you SimFox for your suggestions. My problem is that when I do a custom LOD in Max I always get colored boxes. Which I think are the untextured models in the game 14.gif So I won''t be doing the custom LODs for the station. Swamper will do the LODs and he has GMAX so thats why I had to send the model to GMAX.

If I knew how to make the LODs in a way that I don't get the "colored boxes" I would use Max to render, which honestly I prefer a thousand times over GMAX...

I vote to see what vesters proposal actually looks like!!!, I think it could actually work. I'm assuuming that the machinery for the lifts is under the ground. perhaps you could have one lift in transit

    regards

I actually meant a rendered version, but that'll do!

And if you do lower the ceiling of the elevator shafts it'll add to the feeling that the roof isn't really there, it's just to protect you from the elements, not to keep you enclosed.
