A Dash 8 would be nice, it would include just another Air Canada livery (AC Jazz operates Dash 8's and CRJ's).

With the 737, and the A320, I think our airports will be overwhelmed enough tho, lol.

Just a note to everyone, but ACE is not accepting requests at the moment, so quit making them.

I'm sure everyone knows that by now, he's mentioned it a thousand times, there's really just the odd person nowadays who'll request a plane, and I've just requested a couple livery's lately.

sometimes harch is needed, despite the Dash 8Q400 is suffering from a series of manucatoring errors, mostly with the Gear and Electronics(SAS has now grounded their entire fleet of Q400's because of these problems, two crashing and one serious incident just since last sunday, no deaths as far as i know though. but still.).

I might do some Turboprops later, like the Saab2000/Saab200(just because its swedish), and a few of the russian turboprops like the Tu-95, though after the A320 next big plane im planning is the Il-76, and some derivatives based on it(Mainstay and Midas)

Hey Ace! I think your airport pack is great, and I have a few suggestions. First, maybe make elevated rail stations that are seperate lots, but connect and look good with the concourses and termianls. This way, we can connect our airports to our main elevated/glr rail lines, or we can make a small, inter-terminal elevated rail line. Another idea is that I think the different concourses should have capacities and possibly jobs. I want to make a realistic airport, but I think it wouldn't be realistic enough if there weren't capacities. Capacities I think are really need... badly, while jobs on the other hand should be put in if you want to. I care more about having an airport with actual plane traffic than having jobs, but I think both should be put in if you can! Thanks so much if you do this! I would appreciated it so much. Other than those suggestions, your airport pack rocks!

P.S.-I know you are not accepting requests, but I just really wanted to point out the whole 'capacity' thing. Sorry, and thanks! 34.gif

    hello all

sorry for the lack of updates but I've been very very busy...

when I have the time, I think I'll finish the cargo lots; get those done.

After that, I really hope I'll have some time for new stuff

Sounds good ace. If you go a page back, check out some of my suggestions, I think they'd be nice.

    Edit:

Here they are so you don't have to search, and just some ideas that you could work with.

    1. Voltaire said you were working on a "planes-as-separate-props" project, possibly that.

    2. Westjet liverys for the 737's. Westjet's 737-600 has no winglets, and the -700 has winglets with www.westjet.com on the inside (or westjet.com, forget which).

    3. Maybe a FedEx/Purolator livery of 747's or something, along with a loading area for them.

    4. Cargo Terminals

    5. Walk to the jet 747s/CRJs, and some other walk to the jet pieces.

The above things would probably make everyone happy, 'specially the planes as separate props.

Thats already in the works, to make 2x2/1x1 lots that function like airports. Jobs may be included, however i have not yet been able to succsessfully implement jobs on a lot. though i know its possible as Joerg's original pack had jobs on the functional lot(an ATCT).

Also, I haven't experimented to far with the airport pack... (It is complicated...) but if used with volataires runways, will planes enter the runway and take off?

No, you can't mod that way. There are some puzzle pieces with his airport pack that have the default planes landing and taking off every now and then though.

How do you get your terminals, concourses, and jetways to have nightlighting. Only runways and taxiways light up when I give my airports power, but how do you get the concourses to light up? Thanks!

You need to download the Update for BAT on SimCity's website. You will need a registered account to retrieve it. It's under Cool Stuff > Tools > Building Architect Tool (B.A.T.). The file name is SC4Update4BAT.exe, if that' the file you download, you've clicked the right link. Without it, custom lights, such as the strobes on the approach lights and the night lighting of the lots will not appear. Default lights like the taxiway and runway lights still appear however without the update.

Still to do is the top and (final) details.

When finished it will look somewhat like this.

Can you make a tall, medium, and short version like you did in your old packs? Thanks!

OMG! Great work on the airport stuff!! It's friggin awesome.. although I don't know where to start.. So I have some questions..

    1. What's the difference between a concourse and a terminal? Which one goes on the street?

    2. What would some of you build first? The airport itself, or the runways?

    3. Can anyone give me a link to a cj where I can look at a good, realistic airport? (with the new Ace pack)

Thanks.. I'll post pics of my airport when I'm done w/it.

    1. Terminal, thats the name for an entire structure, but primarly it goes for the Entrance part, where you would have the Checkin, Luggage Collecting, Security Checks and the bulk of tax-free shopping. Basicly a Terminal is the side of the airport facing the roads & bustops.

Concource is the side where you board your Aircraft from, whenever it be through walking out of a door and up a stair to the plane or through a jetway.

Heres a picture of Stockholm Arlanda to Explain.

    arlandaterminaler2004shy7.jpg

Terminal 2 is in a style common for smaller airports or older terminals, it dosnt feature any peers so it only has jetways on one side of the building, in this case the terminal is the part to the right and the concource to the left.

Terminal 3 would have its terminal in the bottom part, which features an entrance and such and no jetways, while its concource would be that portruding peer. Terminal 4 & 5 are built up on the same way, with all their jetways on peirs. this is because its more efficent use of space this way.

Oh, and yeah, Arlanda dosnt have a Termnal 1 at all, though Bromma(another of stockholms smaller airports) is sometimes rumord to be called Terminal 1.

    2. What would some of you build first? The airport itself, or the runways?quote>

    2. Personally, i allways start by deciding what kind of configuration i want(ie number of runways and which direction there in) and directly relevant, the size of the airport(Small domestic to large international etc).

Then, next step is to draw out aproximate locations for the runways and terminals, u use the road and avenue tools for this, also mark out taxiways when that is done.

First airportpices i plop would be the runways, just the ends, lighting & exits, so i know that they will fit into the intended area.

from this i start adding the taxiways, i generally space my taxiways with 6-8 tiles, some people have them as close as 2 tiles from eachother. personal preferance i guess, i think its more realistic with larger distances.

Then once you start getting close to the terminal you will want to start plopping the outlines and jetways, youll probably want to try a few different setups. then once all the runways, taxiways and terminals are completed, you can start filling in the gaps, grass, tarmac holes in the taxiways, id reccoment to wait untill this stage to plop the final parts of diagonal taxiways and runways, as it saves you time if you need to redo them because something you wanted didnt fit or align properly.

    3. Can anyone give me a link to a cj where I can look at a good, realistic airport? (with the new Ace pack)quote>

A good place to start hunting:

Show us your airport @ sc4dev

Show us your airport @ ST

Otherwise keep in eye out for mine, which is loosly based on the above Arlanda, but scaled down to two runways and three terminals with two peers. As i didnt need a 60 gate airport.

Hope this post is to some help atleast :)

//Edit: Forgot to mention, the information in RMIP's readmees is invaluable ;)
