    UPDATE

just some progress in different areas again2.gif:

    > flaps for the 747. These were actually quite tricky and I spent a lot of time trying to get them right....

The idea is to have this model suspended in air, as if it is landing/on approach. It won't move, but it would definately add an air of realism to any airport. I might edit in a SC pic soon so you get the idea...

all the new concourse lots will now be 2 tiles long in stead of 1.

    > I'm now going to turn my attention to better baggage carts, trucks and other jetway-clutter. Will I ever get to BATting terminals again, lol21.gif.

Whoa... still really nice, like how you use Singapore Airlines for the 747 base model.  The wireframe pic of the flaps will sure help me in creating flaps for my planes.4.gif

Lol, nice terminal piece.  Hope you do get back to terminal-BATting soon.

And if you check the Boeing site, there are diagrams for where each jetway-clutter piece should be placed in.  Here's a link to the terminal-servicing diagram for the 747-400.  Just scroll down and you will see the diagrams.  Here's another link to diagrams for older 747s.  Here's a link to a list of all PDF information files for the 747 family.

I think I might start batting... eventually..

    (Planes and such I mean)

Heh... I just noticed, I have 24,995 posts on my fourm, and 95 posts here. Slight resemblance.

    Oh how hillarious is that!

I guess we think alike. I rendered this model a month ago with flaps down coming down for a landing.

By the way, to anyone who wants to know, yes this pack with variety of airlines skin will be released soon.

Whoa, Kumba, how do you make it like that.. did you just edit the blast pad or did you mod something to have those land?

    Shade,

The plane itself is not animated, it is a static prop that "floats" in the air and stays there.

    Seahawk,

Thanks for the comment! It certainly is ironic we had the same idea, but I've already rendered mine hehe.

They're converted Flight Simulator models made by someone else that Kumba downloaded, converted to a gmax appropriate format, textured, rendered, and lotted.

Yoman3: who really cares? they still look cool! and he got permission from the creator to use them!

also its not about whether he asked permission to use the design its about the originality of the idea that was taken

Kumba I've done a similar thing in my city with a fighter aircraft and his wingman coming in to land but u beat me too it for placing a picture! Incredible work by the way ace. Is there likely to be any converted Flight Simulator models placed on STEX or is it too much to ask for. Also does anyone fancy doing a tutorial for that with pictures. I'm really rubbish with GMAX but this is something I really want to do however I need my hand held to learn how to do it so to speak!

Seahawk - It does matter as Kumba is giving no credit to the original creators of the models. And hasn't proved he has permission. And it is not his idea but acctually

Ardecilia's. Copyright is a serious issue.

bearmans - I think a realese on STEX is out of the question unless proof of permission from the original creator is given.

Yes, copyright is a serious issue, however, the course of action that this thread is taking isn't the proper response to it.  So, I'll recap this stuff again.

    1. If it's not your work, it can't be uploaded to the STEX without a STEX Mod's permission.
    2. In order to get permission to upload, you'll either need to show that you had permission from the original creator to do this, or that your creation is different from what you made the original off of.
    3. In any case, the source MUST be cited.  No exceptions will be allowed and excuses like "this was so important that I absolutely had to share it and there wasn't time to get a STEX Mod's permission" or "I forgot where I got it from" won't be accepted.
    Do I make myself clear?

Kumba: Before this can be uploaded to the STEX, I'll want to know where you got this thing from and some proof that using it for purposes like this is OK with the creator.

Seahawkfan: Who cares?  I care.  Enough said.

Yoman (and others): In the event of something like this happening, the best course of action is PM a moderator if you said something and no one seems to be listening.  Thank you to those who did.

This thread will be reopened at my earliest convenience tomorrow, but no less than 24 hours from now.

EDIT: The required 24 hours have passed.  The thread is now open.

    Hello,

I was away at my aunts house for easters and I was not even aware what was happening here so I would like to say, Sorry for the trouble that one little picture caused you to the mods.

To answer some well awaited questions...

    1. Yes I have permission, I have the actual email I sent and recieved from the creator, I have shown it to the moderators here at ST and they agree the email is valid and that I do have permission, I have no idea where yoman got the idea I do not have permission since I do not talk to him in chat or on MSN, my guess is that he still has a personal vendetta against me or something, no idea why.... All I ask you yoman, please stop defaminating my character on the forums and in the chat since I heard from my friends in the chat that you were ranting about me in there. Please leave the childlike behavior out of here, it really does annoys others.

    2. The release will NOT be on ST, it will be a exclusive on another site in turn will give me space to upload future models as well, again, I have no idea where Mr. Yoman gotten the idea that I'm releasing it here. When I release it, rest assured 100% credit will be given as I have intended to do all along.

    3. The models are actually NOT converted FS model, they are a PURE gmax model, unconverted.

    4. I only intended to post the picture to show ace that we had the same idea and that i've rendered them as well. And I have not even said in my post that I took credit from it, and the website where I'm releasing it from, I have implicity stated that they are not my model in my post in BOLD. Any one can see it, I have not edited my post 5 min after I posted it (I edited it since one of my picture link didn't show) and again, no idea why yoman assumed that.

    5. What I meant "first" as to answer your question yoman was not the issue of FS converting, Ardecila actually converted plane models for me in the past and I'm well aware he has been doing it for some time, you have no argument from me there, what I meant "first" was the actual landing itself, with flaps retracted, landing wheel at the ready, everything you'll see on a actual landing plane including its in the air as well. Thats what I meant...

    6. If anybody want to see the orginal topic, please refer here, https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=837.0

    7. *Edit* I see yoman was already aware of the topic at devotion and still came here and tried to defame me. Please yoman, stop all this charade its getting quite annoying to us other member who still play this game for fun and not accusing other people of things that are untrue.

Again, sorry for what a little picture has caused here, I had NO idea that this would open another pandora box and was not my intention at all.

So why don't we give the topic back to ACE so he can show more of his manificent work and end this right here with this post. If you want to comment on my plane models, please go to devotion to the link i gave you.

And ACE, I did not even intend to hijack your thread, I was merely trying to show you that we had the same idea and that I already rendered mine a while ago, my apologies for indirectly causing the chaos here.

    Thank you for your time.

Voar Tok, he has the SOURCE FILE.....that alone means that he has permission to use it. Any allegations that he's somehow obtained the source file illegally need to be substantiated by something material. Kumba doesn't need to prove anything.

    Glad that's over4.gif...

now on with a pic of the terminal piece I'm working on. It doesn't look quite right yet, but I'm getting there:

    terminal4jk7.jpg

the people you see in the upper-right are new low-poly ones. 'only' 980 polys per crowd!

an in game pic of a 747 with flaps extended (still needs tweaking though):

Ace: The 747 landing prop looks pretty nice!!!  Now, the RMIP-2 SAE runways are too narrow for these widebodies, as can be seen with the 2-tile wide approach lighting.  So you might want to make pieces for the wide runways.

    Cheers!
