Aloha!

The region of Honolulu

This region will include popular places such as punch bowl cemetary, Diamond Head, and even Pearl Harbor.  Yes there is interstates in Hawaii, and no, there isnt a bridge connecting any state to the Hawaian Islands.  Instead of I-10 or I-40, its H-1 and H-3.  Hawaii is a big vacation spot for tourists.  Honolulu, is the biggest vacation spot in Hawaii.  Honolulu itself is not that big, consisting of only 371,657 (2000, so it may be different).

A picture of Downtown Honolulu.

    Honolulu Freeway System

    Honolulu%20Freeway%20system.JPG

I know its not exactly perfect, but its a start.  I will make adjustments as i began to grow buildings on the region.  I want this to be as exact as possible.  These freeways (highways) are to get me started.  By the way, and im not to sure on this.  On some maps, you will see Highway 78.  It is a major freeway running through Honolulu.  Another name for this highway is H-201.  Both are the same highway/freeway.  Here are some pics of some interchanges.moanalua-freeway-exit1C.jpg

Just some random riff raff I thought i might show you.
Hope you liked the update, and im open to suggestions.44.gif

I live in Honolulu, what would you like to know?  By the way, Highway 78 has been changed to H201 and on one of your first pics you had a Hwy 92, that is actually H1.  Are you going to do Waikiki?  Also, as far as I know there are about 900,000 people living on Oahu, most of them are in the city, which stretches from Pearl City to Hawaii Kai without a break, so the population of the city is more like 800,000.

    so.....

i will be changing the Hwy 78 to H-201 and the Hwy 92 into H-1.  As for doing Waikiki, yes i will be doing it along with Waikiki Beach.  When i was in Hawaii, i stayed at the Waikiki Village Hilton Resort.  Very nice area.  For now though i am going to be working piece by peice on adding Honolulu. I will be updating today.

    and...

You might like to check out http://westcoastroads.com/hawaii/index.html and http://www.interstate-guide.com for some helpful information on the highways. From the latter site, I've copied some info on I-H201 below:

Interstate H-201 was the secret designation for Hawaii 78, the Moanalua Freeway, west of downtown Honolulu. The Federal Highway Administration added the freeway to the Interstate system on February 1, 1989. The designation applies to all of the Monanalua Freeway except the western 0.7 miles of freeway (near Aloha Stadium, west of Interstate H-1 exit 13). That segment remains signed as Hawaii 78. Interchanges are numbered 1A through 4 on the 4.10 mile freeway.

During July of 2004 during a superpave project of Interstate H-201 [Hawaii 78], night time closures resulted in the placement of new signs in both directions of the former secret freeway. New signs now display Interstate H201 instead of Hawaii 78.

Also, you are not entirely wrong with marking HI-92. HI-92 is the Nimitz Hwy, and it duplexes with H-1 between exits 15B and 18A (essentially that mostly straight section). One of your photos actually shows westbound H1 at Exit 15B, where HI-92 departs the freeway via a two-lane exit only. So in that stretch, you actually need to cosign I-H1 and HI-92. The rest of the freeway is H1 only.

Also, if you're going as far west as Pearl Harbor, you'll probably be doing Interstate H2 also, yes? It departs from I-H1 at Exit 8B, near the Pearl City/Waipahu area.

    Looks like a nice project!

    HISTORY OF PEARL HARBOR
The 7 December 1941 Japanese raid on Pearl Harbor was one of the great defining moments in history. A single carefully-planned and well-executed stroke removed the United States Navy's battleship force as a possible threat to the Japanese Empire's southward expansion. America, unprepared and now considerably weakened, was abruptly brought into the Second World War as a full combatant.

    Now more parts of Honolulu......

Hope you liked the update, sort of a small one.  If you see any problems with this map that you would know of, please tell me.  Mahalo!  (Thanks) 48.gif
