Introduction Christiania

Hello all!

First of all thanks everyone for the outstanding work and design, you and this site have given SinCitya whole new dimension. Now i'm starting my first CJ Christiania. I'm a newbe but i got pations and i like designing Ctyes so why not trow my self into it. And by your comments and sugestions i'll learn more by developing Christiania.

Let me introduce my self, i'm 38 years old male liveing in Norway. Christiania is the old name of our capital Oslo, so thats why i'm useing the name Christiania. I'm going to use the deafult region New York for my CJ, and i'm going to use almost all STEX i can find that fits into my/yours ideas and design.

As this is just an introduction of my CJ, i'm for now just show you my idea of the main transition network of the first part of Christiania wich will be an industrial and fishing community. This is just a raw layout of the transition network, lots of details will be put down to the highways and rail like trees, side walls, stations etc, and ofcaurse avenues, roads and sreets wil be put down as well. Tell me what you think both negative and positive comments are welcome.

i'm trying now to do some teraforming of the shorline, but can't get it how i want it to be. I see a lot of you have very nice and smouth shorlines with seawals and docks, mybe the deafult region i'm useing is too steep for doing what you guys are doing, but i'm going to try harder with the tools i have avilable now, If some of you have some comments how to design this shoreline please help!

I do have a backup plan if its not working 16.gif

Also comments/sugestions of what flora rock and water STEX to use is very welcome

Thats all for now see you all soon!

iolo - Welcome to Simtrop.29.gif  The transportation network looks promising.44.gif  I look forward to seeing you develop it.

As far as the shoreline development goes, here is what I suggest.  You can find on the STEX some terrain conforming tools by PEG.  They help to flatten out the land where you are trying to work.  I prefer to use a method by placing down single road tiles to flatten the land.  You can find some tutorials on how to do this on the board or you can visit several of the different CJ's here for examples.  I also will use the God Mode terrain smoothing tool quite extensively, but at a size of 3 or 4.

Again, good start and give us more... 10.gif

Like the rest... Welcome to Simtropolis and hopefully you have a good time.

I like the water you are using... Good choice.. And the trees have a good look to them. The highway looks great with the rail running near it. Keep up the good job and let's see what developes.

Hey!

It's always great to see new norwegian people here at Simtropolis! You will enjoy this site probably more than anything else and take your time and search the STEX 2.gif

Suggestions-
1.If you haven't already downloaded a watermod, Pegasus and timotheus have some great watermods on the stex! Also Pegasus have some nice rockmods!
2.For your shorelines, take your time and you'll see great progress! For shore, dock and seaportlots Pegasus, jeronij and marrast got some MUST HAVE stuff!!!
3.You will also find some great mods in the Modding Files-section wich will make the game both more realistic and fun!

Comments-
1.I would download BRF's Tunnel And Slope mod-b. This will make raillaying harder, but your transportationnetwork will look much better!
2.For your shorelines viewed above I would probably lowered the terrain around and make the water a little bigger.
3.I guess the citymap is large...? Then I think it's okay with more than one highway, if not one will do. Remember

    Christiania #1

Hello again all! I where amased about so many nice replays to my introduction of Christiania. Thank you all for the warm welcome. To tell the tale, i had to draw down my very first transportation network and start all over again, My shoreline where to high off the water so i had to do some terraforming to move the land down and do some smooth work to get everything how i whanted it to be. Newbe as i am it was a lesson i had to take sooner or later. 29.gif Now after the transportation network is back everything is like it where in my first introduction.

Thanks a lot for your tips about I prefer to use a method by placing down single road tiles to flatten the land another grate lesson, this helped me out a lot when forming my shoreline after terraforming, and thanks to you i now got a lot of new ideas 9.gif All i need now is a plottable lighthouse out there at the edge.

Thank you, sorry my first update came this late, i had to go the terraforming school and learn the LEGO stuff again to get the seawall up right, not an easy task at my age 20.gif but i'm getting there and hopefully the next update will come sooner than this one.

Just a question, the name Christiania, where did you get it from. I know Norways capital Oslo was called Christiania for some time, did you get the name there?
