Good to hear that you arrived safely. I also hope that some Arizona guy can fix your laptop so that you can return to updating sometime (I'm patiently waiting). Good luck at your new home 4.gif.

This great CJ does not belong on page 8 of the index. Please take a few minutes to unlurk here and encourage brtim2 to give us another update.

EDIT:  brtim2 was on ST last Sunday (the 9th) so he's coming by but not updating.  He needs to hear from folks who really care about Terketmek and would hope to see more.

Yes, yes I have been lurking. Lurking around here whenever I get the chance to hi-jack a computer for  a few minutes.

Wait, what? Your computer isn't working? Since when.

Hahaha, well you sir/madam, have not been reading this here thread. Computer's broken. And that's about it.

But I have a job (rather well paying, if'n I have to work for my money) and one of the guys there moonlights as a computer technician something or other. So I gave him the laptop.

And then I waited 4 or 5 business days...

    Just kidding, kind of.

I dropped it off and then he promptly went out of town. So no looky looky. But that's fine, I've gone three months without it so far, I think I can handle another month. Or so. Or perhaps 5-7 business days?

Anyway, the computer is being looked at, hopefully it can be fixed, and hopefully most of the stuff is saved on the external hard drive so I can start right back into the game (after raiding the STEX for all the stuff I have missed).

So things might be looking on the up and up in the next few days/weeks/months.

Anyway, just wanted to thank everyone for taking the time to look and post in this not quite dead but extremely comatose city journal, it shall be resurected (maybe in time for SC5. Sigh....).

Anyway, I'll be working the rest of the week and flying back to Maryland to...

see about a girl (Good Will Hunting, anyone?)

    watch a Field Hockey game...

and experience a long haul flight first hand..... sigh....

So maybe when I'm back good news about the computer? One can only dream.

But I am still alive and kicking. And just because Terketmek isn't alive for you to see, believe me, there has been work behind the scenes.

    Alright, back into the dark.

    Take care. Laters.

Hi there brtim2. I'm patiently waiting for the day you have your laptop back, so you can update again 4.gif. Don't worry about SC5, I don't think it'll be here too soon lol.

"I have one word to say to you, just one word." Or a thousand. If that really is the worth of a single picture.

Ok, so this post might have a few more words in it than the last one. I'm gonna try and keep it under a thousand words, but I'm not too sure that can happen. (See, I already dug myself into a whole by saying thousand instead of 1000. Shame on me.)

Anyway, let me reintroduce myself. I am brtim2.

And I know what some of you are saying. 'Oh gravy, you're back, I have been waiting for almost a year on a comeback! Yeah! The second coming of Digby!' Some are saying, 'Oh great, who rose this dead thing from the ashes. Phoenix, thy name is not.' And still some others are saying: 'Who are you and why are you so special?'

To that last one, I really don't know how to answer it. But perhaps these following paragraphs can explain. Or at least keep you occupied. Shiny metal object anyone?

So here's the back story of the past 3 pages. I lived in Maryland and had a laptop. I used it to play SimCity  (seriously, it doesn't recognize SimCity? Seems like it would be a popular word to include in a spell checker on a SimCity fansite. Simtropolis. See, that one too.) I started this region after downloading the Painted Desert Terrain Mod by Cycledogg. I was planning on moving to Arizona at the end of the summer, and it seemed I should prepare myself to the look. Cause, really, it looks cool and different. (Ha, stupid me. More on this development later in the post.) That and I could create cool terrains like Canyons that actually looked cool. (Nobody cares about Pennsylvania's Grand Canyon, only Arizona's.)

Well, right before I moved my laptop just quit working. And no one, save me, wanted it to get fixed. So I moved to Arizona with a broken laptop. (Actually I forgot it in Maryland. I put it in the corner on time out, and totally forgot to get it when move day came. And seriously, that's true. Except the time out. But I did forget it.)

So my laptop was mailed to me in Arizona. And a co-worker couldn't fix it. I couldn't fix it, so it languished. As did my region.

But then, and this is where it gets exciting, I got a new computer. Brand spanking new. I built it myself. And save for a few things that are weird (like the USB on the top of the case not working and it reading the internal hard drive as a removable object) things are looking up.

So I reinstalled SimCity and came to Simtropolis. Downloaded a few things. Went to SC4Devotion (so it doesn't do SimCity or Simtropolis but it does SC4Devotion? I hate you already spell checker. And I think that should be one word, but it doesn't like to be called that.) and am in the process of downloading from there. And it's taking forever cause my wireless router is very finicky. And on the other side of the house. So, the whole MEGA prop things are timing out here and there. It tells me I'm at like 5 downloads for CSX Mega Prop 04 and yet each time it's corrupted or timed out. So it tells me I have it when I really don't.

And that gets us to now. Here I am in Arizona and sweating myself to death. (I have never, ever done anything so un-athletic as sit in front of this monitor and still have my urine come out as a golden as it does now. That cannot be healthy. And, as you may have astutely noted, my region looks nothing like what it does that first two pages, nor does it look anything like Arizona or a canyon.

And to that I say, congratulations. Have a cookie. Here's where I explain about Phoenix. Or more accurately, the Valley. Like it's the only one anywhere, ever. Everything here looks the same. It's all the same color. All the same size. All the same speed. Red everywhere. It looks boring, dry and desolated. And that's even in the center of 'The Valley.' And I couldn't have it on my monitor also. That would just make me want to bury my head in the Red, Hot, Dry, Hard sand. So, while I was quite please with the direction and the reaction to what I had been doing, I just had to stop it for the moment before I went insane.

So here we have what came to me during a moment of inspiration while checking out places I should live come the end of June. (Did you not get what I was pointing to in the last paragraph? I can't stand it here in the Valley. I need to get away.) And that is, Clemson, SC. While this is not a remodeling of the city, the idea of a city, however small it may be, located on a damned river in the Appalachian/Piedmont area looks really cool from space. And it's green. And there are real trees everywhere. And there are seasons. Oh seasons. How I have missed you.

So that's where I stand now. And I'd show you some pictures of some development, but alas, the MEGA Prop Problem. My farms have fields, and very, very large boxes instead of barns. And I know it's a dependency problem. And that would be alleviated after I find a work around for the internet problem. So, hopefully we can get down to the nitty gritty in a short while.

So, take a moment to reread what has been said in the last three pages, and let it be known that Terketmek 2.0 is here.

And thanks to jacquilina and Shulmanator for commenting on basically nothing. But if that's what the CJ section is all about. Comments, comments and comment some more.

But seriously, jacky (I never know if the shortened name of a handle should be capitalized even if the handle is not, and the nickname happens to be the actual name of the person) thanks for still being there. I must say it was quite a quick posting reaction. That makes me think you bookmarked this, just waiting. Or perhaps it was dumb luck, but I like to think it was the former, not the latter.

And Schulmanator. Wait till you see the northern end of the region. But I'm glad you think this is a nice region, this would be the second version of it. The first version was very, um, boring. At least I know my repeatative work has been worth it.
