Has anyone else downloaded 6459978's Rowhouse Ploppables? I did, but the building models don't show up! I do have the "bldgprop_vol1 &2", so I'm stumped as to what else could be the prob. I reeeeeeeeally want these for my cities, as I have a hard time getting the growable Maxis ones to sprout up... anyone have some suggestions?!?!?!?!?!     Thanx!

There was an earlier mod - predateing the bldgprop files - that you're missing. Due to legal reasons, it's been removed. However, I think it's packaged in with one of mrbisonm's lots... but I don't know which.

I'm not aware of any other dependencies (or mods) that could be missing... if I remember correctly building-props was a Maxis download, should be all you need... but it's been a while so I'm a bit hazy.

Shouldn't BATs that rely on a dependency that is later removed, also be removed? What's the point in having a BAT on the STEX that can't work because you can't download its dependencies?

ive seen those things, but i dont like them since they dont really function. its really easy to grow rowhouses like that if you zone 1*1 medium res on one side of the block and 1*1 high res on the other like this:

SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

S=Street

M=Med. Density res 1*1

H=High Density res 1*1

Not a bad idea, per se, Bones, but we should give 645 a break, since he said he wasn't aware it was even a problem. Also, we're given our own authority over stuff we upload to the STEX. (That's one thing I really like about it). To my knowledge, moderators don't remove anything unless it's a violation of STEX rules, so there's no way we can expect them to go chase down BATters whenever something appears to be wrong with a lot.

However, the idea is amusing:  I'm sitting in my apartment, and there's a knock at the door, "Mr. Cobb, we're with Simtropolis, and one of your lots has a problem. You're going to have to come with us, sir." 10.gif

    @6459978: Yeah, that's all I thought I would need... I have them placed in a file for Joerg's Airport Set. So I would assume that it would be shared with your files (or am I wrong)?

    @hamsterTK: I'll give that a try- although I usually use a larger block layout, as apposed to the 1x# you suggest...i.e.: sssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

    sMMMMMMMMMMsMMMMMMMMMMs

    sMMMMMMMMMMsMMMMMMMMMMs

    sMMMMMMMMMMsMMMMMMMMMMs

    sMMMMMMMMMMsMMMMMMMMMMs

    sssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss with the lots facing out towards the top and bottom streets. But I will give your method a try, thanks! 4.gif

    I thought the best way to get rowhouses was something like this:

    sssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

    MHMHMHMHMHMHMHMHMHMHMHMHMH

    HMHMHMHMHMHMHMHMHMHMHMHMHM

    sssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

    ...and so on.

    If the BAT allows a 1x2 lot, I usually prefer it.  I zone like this:

    RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

    MHMHMHMHMHMHMHMHMHMHMHMHMHMHMHMH

    MHMHMHMHMHMHMHMHMHMHMHMHMHMHMHMH

    HMHMHMHMHMHMHMHMHMHMHMHMHMHMHMHM

    HMHMHMHMHMHMHMHMHMHMHMHMHMHMHMHM

    RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

    Or I place parks in the middle like this:

    RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

    RHMHMHMHMHMHMHMHMHMHMHMHMHMHMHMR

    RMPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPHR

    RHMHMHMHMHMHMHMHMHMHMHMHMHMHMHMR

    RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

    Ah, more good suggestions, I have yet to try any of these (busy and all)... but alternating high and low densities, huh? My small town has only about 12,000 people, too. Wonder if that has anything to do with it- although I thought 10,000 was the point at which you could expect higher density res. buildings to pop up.

    The idea with alternating medium and high density is to ensure that the rowhouses never upgrade to larger buildings. Only rowhouses will grow on 1x2 high density lots anyways, so you never know the difference between high and medium density buildings.

    There are no in-game "high density" (stage 7 or 8) row houses. All the residential lots that are 1 tile wide are low or medium density. I guess that's why using alternating high and medium density zoning works; the high-density zones end up growing medium-density buildings because there aren't any high-density ones that can develop.

    The above won't be true if you download any BATs that are stage 7 or 8 and come with lots that are 1x1 or 1x2.
