OK, I guess this is the place to ask this.

First of all, this is one of the best mods I have encountered. Many thanks.

I know that clicking on the intersect allows to change the street setup/trees. Would it be possible to add the option to remove all trees (i.e you cycle through different options, and one of them removes trees/bays)? Otherwise some areas look weird with trees (like residential near farms etc).

Yes and no. Of course, it would be possible to replace one tree set with invisible models, but this would affect all trees along the streets - so they would disappear entirely. Clicking several times on a street tile or intersection doesn't cycle through several sets, but rearranges the trees randomly, so you can't control what shows up.

Ok, thanks.

I am now trying the other street trees mod (as uploaded or done by you, Andreas?). There, I like the fact that I can choose what wealth need the residents to have the trees on their street (if the commercial had the same choice, then the mod would be perfect as far as I am concerned).

Cheers.

My mod (yes, done and uploaded by me 2.gif ) doesn't touch commercial streets at all, but only the residential ones. There are a few optional plugins where you can change/add trees to the streets in commercial and agricultural zones, but at least the commercial zones plugin only affects original Maxis street tiles that already have trees (some C-$$$ zones, IIRC).

Andreas,

Pardon me if this has already been asked (skimmed through but didn't see it) but can you detail the differences between your mod and jeronij's? From just taking a look at the files, it appears that J's is pretty modular (being able to add or delete files such as the cars, trash cans, etc). I think I want to use yours with CD's trees, but I'd also like to use J's sidewalk mod. If I just take the sidewalk file from J's mod and then download yours, will it work? Does your mod contain the cars and parking bays as well as the trees? Thanks in advance!

Well, I haven't examined jeronij's mod in all details, but from what I gathered, these are the main differences:

- My mod comes with several tree style DATs that can be installed alone or together, whereas jeronij's mod has a fixed set of trees.

- My mod is less "complete" regarding additional props, such as trash cans, streetlights etc. Apart from the trees and parking bays, I only use Maxis props.

- My mod doesn't have new sidewalk textures, although I believe you could use the ones created by jeronij with my mod as well (I haven't tried it, though).

- My mod is limited to residential areas only (apart from the optional plugins), whereas jeronij's version also covers some commercial streets.

I hope this answers your questions - if in doubt, feel free to experiment. 2.gif

Is it possible to make the LOW WEALTH Sidewalk the sidewalk for all wealth levels? It looks old and european and it would make the streets of my European City AMAZING and realistic, Most of my sidewalks are those white or pink sidewalks and it would be super cool if they were the low wealth one you created.

    Hi , I missed this thread for a while....43.gif

I attach to this post two versions of my sidewalks textures:

    JRJ SidewalksV3_LowWealth_MedWealth_Sidewalk.zip

This file replaces the pink sidewalks and make them look like the Medium Wealth ones.

Pattern: Grey - White Grey - White Grey

    JRJ SidewalksV3_LowWealth_allwealths.zip

This file replaces the pink and white grey sidewalks with the Low wealth ones.

Pattern: Grey - Grey - Grey

You can install one or the other but never both files at a time.

49.gif You must delete any "wealth" related file in your sidewalks folder before using any of those ones. You can leave ( or not, as you prefere 2.gif the "rural" one.

I hope you find it useful ( and understable 2.gif 2.gif

    Sidewalk options addon.zip

    I need some help...

As this picture shows (sorry for the link, don't have my own webspace and I didn't want to use simtropolis bandwidth), I'm having the infamous Brown Boxes show up with this mod. I've checked my plugins folder and I have all the dependencies installed, as well as Cycledogg's general ploppable tree mod.

It only occurs in high and medium wealth residential areas, commerical and low-wealth residential are just fine.

Whats wrong here? I love the look of this mod, it brings us even closer to SC5. I'd really like to figure out a resolution to my problem.

Thanks again jeronij for your great work, I particularly love your seawalls.

Hi BigSlark, there is only one possible reason for this brown bow: You are missing a dependencie pack. I´d suggest you to delete your mod installation and re-install it again. First make sure ( as many times as necessary) that you have all the needed files for this mod to work ( which are not too many if I remember right ;-D) as stated in the readme file.

If you dont still get it to work, rename your plugins folder, and install ONLY the mod. Test it in a blank city without any other custom content. If it works this way ( and not the normal way) then there is a conflict with some other plugin. I dont think this is the case, because the brown box always mean a missing model.

I am glad that you like this mod so much, and I am sorry for the problems you are having. I hope you can solve them soon !!!

Jeronij - I've just been playing around with v3 of this mod and I wanted to post and tell you how much I like it. This adds a great aspect of realism to my cities. In fact, I like it so much I've been waaaay overusing streets. Just curious if either you or Andreas has any plans to add roads or avenues to the mod?

I can only speak for my version of the mod, but at the moment, the answer would be no. It's a tedious and time-consuming work, and currently, I don't have that much time. In addition, roads and avenues don't have that many free space on the sidewalks, so we're basically limited to some tree circles, if we don't want to block the whole sidewalk with cars. If you look closely at my mod, you'll find out that I also changed the trees on some road and oneway-road tiles (the ones that had Maxis trees on it), so at least high-wealth residential and commercial areas also have the new trees. However, I might release an update that will cover the diagonal streets - those are a bit too bland at the moment.

Andreas has spoken for both of us. Thanks for the feedback, and I am glad you liked it, but I do also not plan to work in more mods like this at the moment.

Fair enough. I hadn't noticed that some roads and one-ways had the new trees in your version, Andreas - will check that out. Thanks again to both of you for the great mods!

I have a little problem I have been having. I download it and it works fine except something is appearing as a big box labeled SimNation.com or something like that. So I was woundering how I could fix that or if it is possible to uninstall. I would perfure to fix the problem because I really like this one.

Well, I can't speak for jeronij's mod, but mine certainly has one - and I'm 99,9% positive that jeronij's has one as well. In any case, check out the STEX description well for further hints. And yes, reinstalling might help, and at least my installer will show you the readme file after the installation automatically.

Yes, it's possible. Are you at least a bit familiar with the Reader? You have to edit all Exemplar files that are located inside the DATs in the "Street Mods" folder. There are several "LotConfigPropertyLotObjectData" properties that contain the layout of the props that are placed on the street tiles. Look up the ID of the car prop family in the Lot Editor (I think it's 0xA0000038, but better make yourself sure about it) and delete every "LotConfigPropertyLotObjectData" property that has this ID in the 13th REP. If you want to remove the parking bays as well, look for their IDs and delete these properties as well. After editing a property, you should right-click and select "Reindex LotConfig", and don't forget to save the DAT, once you're done with a file. You can simply update your streets in the game by clicking with the street tool afterwards, as described in the readme file.
