umm..your better on PC ? I am way worse I am way better on PS2 or X-BOX but since I already have the game on PS2 I won't buy it on X-BOX. I think the game is much harder on PC, because of the way you have to move and the way you have to aim to shoot. I do like the way you can move up and down with the camera on the PC versions. They Should have some way to do that on the PS2 and X-BOX versions.

I've played it on the ps2, and the graphics arent too bad, and the gameplay is great. Although I think the port onto Xbox will be better graphics and gameplay-wise. It was good on the ps2, but I just dont like the ps2 controller 3.gif

I only have a PS2 and a PC. I have the game for PS2 and it ROCKS!! The game for the PC will be rubbish due to the Graphics limitations and the controls. However, for the XBOX, even though I don't like the controllers, I reckon that people that do like them will be able to use the controls brilliantly, plus, the XBOX has better graphics, which will reflect in the game.

I have a gamepad nearly the same as the PS2 gamepad so the PC version's controls should be fine for me 2.gif
I did find mouse control better for aiming(auto aim gets annoying at times), but was useless for the helicopter, i had to press 8 different keys to control it 14.gif however the biggest factor: mods! 4.gif

The Xbox version will definately look better. I hope to see the draw distance increased. And I might just get the PC version so I can download all of the mods that will come out for it. Hey, it probably won't run bad on 512MB of RAM..?

But more things in the PC game will mean that it runs slower. And 1Gb RAM will make no difference, I have 512mb RAM and all my games run slow, but then again my processor sucks. Like frogface said, the controls will be annoying if your using 8 buttons AT ONCE! It must be near impossible to control! And I also believe that XBOX graphics are better than PS2, and PS2 graphics are better than PC! So how the PC version can compete with the PS2 and XBOX versions, I don't know!

quote>your processor sucks thats why your games run slow 26.gif Ps2's specs are much lower than a PC's (one you can get these days) so of course it will go faster! even if it has more things. i only said you had 8 controls on the helicopter, not thru the whole game, mouse aim beats the hell out of that auto aim system, the ps2 graphics are better? 47.gif
* Draw distance is vastly improved in the PC version
* The development team are trying extra hard to ensure the game looks as good as possible. Much higher resolution models, real time reflection mapping (think Vice City on Xbox) and higher polygon models are all included.

I have neither PS2 or XBox, so I'm eagerly awaiting the PC version.  Vicy City worked fantastic on my PC, and I loved the added option for mp3s as a radio station.

Yep, I'll be getting it.44.gif

That's another thing I like about GTA on Xbox (and PC) is the custom soundtracks ability. Early 90's music is good, but I like to add some more current songs 31.gif

Please read:

PC -- 640x480 <-> 1280x1024
TV -- 720x480 (NTSC) / 720x512 (PAL)

Now tell me which one will run better? I can always TV-out to my TV and set it to 720x480, and my PC will own your console (we are talking 2660MHz VS 733MHz)

Also, the mods and tweaks are available on PC too -- make this game last 2x as long.

As for controls, I like my keyboard / mouse better (keyboard has more keys than you...) but this is just personal preference.

When a game is moddable, consoles never win.

Oh, BTW, looking forward to this sequel.

Let's see

I had GTA 3 on the PC, looked great and played great
Then I got Vice City to the PC, looked better, gameplay was both better and worse. I specially loved the helicopter part, I probably spent more time flying around than actually play the game
Now I have (for Gods sake read 'borrowed'... I would never buy one) a PS2 and San Andreas. I've now had it for about 2 months... time spent playing SA: Less than 4 hours
I could never get used to those controls. Those were the suckiest controls I've ever played, I mean it would be easier for me to play billard blindfolded and I've only played billard once in my life 30.gif
And to top it all off, it even looked much worse than GTA 3 looks (on the PC)

I'm really looking forward to play the game on a real computer... games like GTA are ment to be played with keyboard and mouse

Can someone tell me if GTA: San Andreas will run on my computer, and if it will run good, i dont know how to tell with that info above ^

I have:

Dell Dimension 2400
Pentium 4 Processor 2.8 GHz
256 MB RAM
8x DVD-Rom
63.2 Hard Disk Space left
Intel 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics Controller (Intel Extreme Graphics)
and...
i know i have more then 128 MB Video Card space

Will it work?  I got Driver 3 and it didnt work, because i guess it doesnt work with Intel Extreme Graphics, but then the next day i got Need For Speed Underground 2, and it worked.

The Intel Graphics Controller is indeed what makes you boned.  RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 will also not even run with it.  The short version of why is because it's NOT a graphics card.  It was intended to control a PC's graphics normally, and games need extra.  I recommend a good 128MB graphics card.  They're not pricey, and you'll see a world of difference.

I don't expect you'll be able to run San Andreas without one....sorry.2.gif

actually.....

I have Roller Coaster Tycoon 3, and it runs perfectly, well a little slow.....I was just really dissapointed when i got Driver 3 and it didnt work....
I am hearing of the Gforce Nvidea cards that all the games work for and look great on.  Where can i find it, I looked and i saw a couple gforce.  Perhpas show me one that is a reasonable price...and i would be happy to ask for it, for my birthday (which is at the end of this month).1.gif

Oops9.gif

I was mistaken, yes you can run it.  I think I was thinking of needing DirectX 9.0c

Although, I DO know that a card is neccessary for the more advanced features, like realistic water and advanced graphical options.  According to all the people who've posted on the offical forums, you need a patch in order to even see the water, right?

I'm still guessing that this is the problem, Driver 3 may require the features that RCT3 have as just options.  GTA may or may not....

    No

Try here for a good graphics card, helomoto, I recommend a nVidia GeForce 6600 128MB or 256MB AGP card, you get a lot for your money on those, just not bleeding-edge performance. Use a credit card, one with buyer's insurance like AmEx, VISA or MasterCard, because pricewatch is just a listing service, * anyone * can advertise there, even scammers.

I can't wait.9.gif  Being an actual Transportation Planner (career), I love these games.  I spend so much time just letting the city layout ooze into my mind, and this time we get 3 of them!  I've watched my roomie play it on his PS2, but he keeps it in his room, so I never get to play!26.gif  But, I was going to get the PC version anyways for all the improvements they've made.  Yay, draw distance!44.gif

I might get it for the Xbox... even though Vice City let me down... way below the graphics standard for the Xbox.

The only thing that makes me nervous is that Win 95/98 and ME are not supported (I use ME).
