  1. Posting to show my interest in a NAM fix for mac. It runs great on my iMac without any plugins, but I remember back to my pc days ~10yrs ago with all those dope mods that really added flavor to the experience.
  2. What 360 Games will you get?

The first game I'll likely get will be PGR3 since it looks so good, and PGR1 was the first game I got with Xbox Later on probably Call of Duty, Gears of War, Enchant Arm, Full Auto, and FFXI (maybe, if it's not too online oriented)
  3. Microsoft Announces Xbox 360 Price for Europe and North America

Heh, nice sig Although my fund is only at about $18.75 One thing I don't like is the cost of the harddrive when you buy it seperatly. $100 for a 20GB drive? Ouch, even if it does come with games or media preloaded on it, that's still $5 a gig. Other than that, the prices seem reasonable for the times.
  4. Microsoft just announced that the X360 will cost $299 & $399 USD for the base and upgraded models. The upgraded system will include peripherals such as (among others) a 20GB harddrive, wireless controller, and headset. MS also announced that the system will be available this holiday season in the US, Europe, and Japan. So basically you're going to want the upgraded system, plus a couple games, which means at launch you'll likely spend over $500 I'm sure I'll get one, just not right away. (click here for the full article and information from XboxSolution.com) What does the Simtrop community think of the pricing? I think it's pretty acceptable, though I really don't like the fact that games will cost upwards of $60..
  5. PS3, Xbox 360 or Revolution?

There is no way Microsoft is going to sell a console with $376 in hardware for $99. Maybe they'll drop the price down a few years after release, but no one in their right mind would sell it for that cheap. It is pretty much set that they'll sell it for $300. Read this article for more info.
  6. Do you have a PSP?

I don't much care for the price tag, plus I am not much of a mobile gamer. I'd actually might rather have an Advance SP or something... The PSP looks cool in all, but most of the games I am interested in are just altered versions of games on current consoles, so there isnt much point to buying the same game twice Still a cool little handheld though, I guess I'd choose it over the DS.
  7. G4 videogame tv

I didn't get satellite until last November, so I don't know what TechTV was like. I cant stand Street Fury, Whips Set, Sweat, or Players. Thay have nothing to do with gaming at all, and they're a bit shallow for my liking. I don't care for Cheat! or Filter either b/c the hosts are bimbos and the jokes are lame. AOTS and X-Play are good, but I have a problem with Judgement Day. I cant stand Tommy Tallerico (or however you spell it) all his jokes are horrible, and his rating of games is so backwards its unbelievable. Poor Anime Unleashed. They shoved it back to 1am for EST folks. I cant stay upto 1am to watch R.O.D. when I have exams in the morning
  8. PS3, Xbox 360 or Revolution?

I would just like to note in reference to earlier posts about the PS3 that people are essentially saying The PS3 is better because it is more powerful Ok, let's go back a couple years, hell, last month. Was it not PS3 users saying It is the quality of a game that makes it good, not the graphics when the Xbox was more powerful than the PS2? Funny how poeple change their views as soon as the tables turn in their favor. That aside, here is the way I see things (from my point of view) The X360 has my vote b/c I like it's controller best, I like the titles lined up, and it comes out sooner and is likely to be cheaper. I loved what I saw from the PS3 at E3, only problem was that most of it was prerendered. Killzone 2? A great concept, but I doubt it'll be fully executed. I also didnt much care for the controller, I like to have analog sticks as primary control, not a d-pad. If I want to try it [the ps3] in the future, I am sure one of my friends will get it and I can just let them borrow my 360 while I borrow their PS3. Revolution. I like the idea of full backwards compatibility, but they didnt show much else.
  9. Forza Motorsport

It's better than I thougt it'd be I could spend hours customizing cars, let alone playing. So far my favorite car is an Acura NSX I won early on, too bad I can barely use it anymore
  10. PS3, Xbox 360 or Revolution?

X360 now, then the Revolution later I can't wait to play the Super Marios and Excite Bike.
  11. Next-Gen Consoles Thread

Here is a post from the Gaming forums on deviantART [LINK] I really like this b/c it is pretty unbiased and gives the specs on the PS3 and 360. Sorry for the size CPU: Cell (1 PPC + 7 units) vs X360 Cpu (three PPC cores) X360 advantages and disadvantages - much easier to program for 3 symmetric processors than an asymmetric processor - strong single thread performance, but can only run limited number of threads - multithreading is difficult to program for but NO WAY near as hard as for the cell - Best described as a jack of all trades approach Cell Advantages and disadvantages - The cell is a massively parallel vector processor - excellent for running multiple floating point tasks such as (game engine, encoding and decoding video) - Difficult to program for -- ALL software has to be optimized - Poor single thread performance - NO hardware Branch prediction, Extremely poor at running complicated branched code (like A.I. code) - Highly specialized approach, the cell is first and foremost an MULTIMEDIA processor that is best suited for HDTVs and a gaming consoles processor second. It offers extremes -- very good at running game engine, very poor at A.I. code. GPU: Today's top of the line 6800ultra has 16 pixel pipelines and 6 shader pipelines and is made up of 222 Million Transistors X360 advantages and disadvantages - ATI's next gen GPU (the R500) has a as unique architecture -- UNIFIED vertex/shader and pixel pipelines. It has 48 of these units that are automatically assigned a function - Easier to program for but has a less higher theoretical peek than independet pipelines - 10MB framebuffer that allows for Free anti-aliasing but limited resolution to 720P. For higher resolutions you upsample - Unknown number of transistors (look for this number in the future) PS3 GPU: - officially stated to have 300 Million transistors with fixed pixel and vertex pipelines. Numbers not disclosed. If 6600GT is about 160 Million transistors, the 6800ultra 222 Million -- it is very likely that the PS3 GPU has 24 pixel pipelines and about 10-12 shader pipelines. I find it very easy to believe that the this GPU will be about twice as powerful as a 6800Ultra - independent pipelines are faster BUT are harder to program for Memory: X360 512Mb of unified DDR3 memory with is shared by BOTH the GPU and CPU. Flexiablity is the obvious advantage. Disadvantage is that they have to be shared. Game developers can split the memory any way they like 50:50, 30:70 etc PS3 256MB XRD for the cell 256MB DDR3 for the GPU advantage is that the each has its own faster memory but each is limited to 256mb. While the CPU in the X360 can have a max of 512mb, the cell is stuck with 256mb. Bandwidth: X360
  12. Next-Gen Consoles Thread

If what I am seeing form Killzone 2 and other titles is truely real time gameplay and not CG, I'll be getting a PS3. I know it is only the first day of E3, but the Xbox 360 is yet to impress me, while the PS3 has amazing tech demos and cool console design. I just don't care for PS controllers To me it looks like the 360 is too wrapped up in online services, which means absolutly nothing to me seeing as how I can't get broadband. Maybe I am speaking too soon, but it looks like the PS3 might be on my desk instead of the 360...
  13. Nintendo Revolution Revealed!

I really like the looks of it, and it actually looks like a futuristic console If it is also as powerful as the PS3 and or 360, it can definatly put Nintendo back in the gaming ring (not that it was ever that far out of it) I also saw another image that had different colored versions of the new system.
  14. X box 360 movie

I think I am starting to like the design of it, even though I was hoping for something smaller. I like the idea of the Live store, where you can get custom upgrades to games, plus standard wireless controllers I know online gaming is the big new thing, but I hope these nex-gen consoles wont leave people who are out of range of cable internet out in the cold.
  15. Next-Gen Consoles Thread

Hmmm... costs. I'd be suprised if the cost of a Xbox 360 or PS3 cost more than $400-500. They're saying a base 360 will be about $300, while bundled pack with other extras included will be higher. Individual game cost is what I am not liking. $60 for a game? $50 is kind of high for me, but is acceptable. Maybe I'll stick to renting them.
