Where do I get these? I dont think they were available with any of the links you posted in the first thread... Or, im just stupid...

For running Simcity with downloaded lots, you won't need the functional_blank_lot or functional_prop_lot_set.

Both of these are used with the lot editor for designing on a totally blank lot. Once the design is done, you do not need these modds to run your lot.

However, if you need these, you can find them in the modd section. Here is a link to the complete modd section https://www.simtropolis.com/modfiles/content.cfm?section=MODS

Well now, that was much easier than I thought it would be. Most lots are up and running smooth. One thing though. I really want to get those fast food franchise comercial lots going, but where do I put the 'other' .DAT file, which is obviously the texture file. Does it go in the 'MyProg' side, or the 'MyDoc' end? I did a search and didnt find anything specifically about it...

Thanks, this is one hell of a great site. Cant believe it took me this long to find it...

Actually the .dat files will work in either directory, but the loading order is slightly different.

I recommend putting ALL .dat files in the C:/Program Files/Maxis/Simcity4/plugins folder. It will load before whatever lots you have and therefore will be available for the lot when it loads.

Nods on GrampaAl's advice.... put any misc .dats that you find in the PGM plugin folder.  Here is a link that might still be helpful...

Hey, so yeah I still have a major problem with my Lot Editor. I've downloaded the official prop sets, put them in the right plugin folder. It seems that there's a set of buildings that isn't there, because after i download a lot and try to open it, i get the message:

"SOME PROPS COULDN'T BE LOADED BECAUSE YOU MIGHT NOT HAVE CERTAIN PLUGINS OR EXPANSION PACKS."

And i know for a fact that i do.

My OS is XP, if that matters. i just don't get it... Thanks in advance.

If you can be specific and NAME the lot(s) that you are having problems with, we can take a look at them and give proper advice.

Just saying you have a problem is not very useful. Tell us EXACTLY which lot or lots that you can't open. I will be glad to take a look and tell you just what files are required.

would it be easier to just uninstall the game and reinstall everything to get rid of everything that may be conflicting?

I downloaded a lot and did everything this thread recommended and still get a blank lot with concrete pad.

There are now two more prop set to contend with.

    Rush Hour Building as Props

and Simtropolis version of Rush Hour Buildings as Props

Prop definitions are not part of your normal Simcity/Rush Hour install; thus de-installing and re-installing SC4/RH will not resolve a blank lot. You will need to find the prop sets/landmarks that goes with the lot.

    Good luck...

    Thanks for the response RalphaelNinja.

I guess I'll delete the problem lots and that will make the issue go away for me(atleast its only 1 lot).

    Ok here is my problem:

I wish to edit the Grand Rail Station.

I recently reinstalled SC4RH when i upgraded my hard drives.

    1) i just reinstalled the Lot Editor (via SC4 site)

    2) i have installed the required plugins in the correct order (minus the European Props) as Ralphael has outlined in this thread:

    1. BldgPropVol1.dat (no dependancies)
    2. BldgPropVol2.dat (no dependancies)
    3. All Landmarks (no dependancies)
    4. Plugin_Landmarks_and_other_missing_props.dat (from simtrop, dependant on landmarks)

    3) i open LE and select Grand Rail Station and i still get the error about missing props or buildings. (i can't open any other new RH building either)

What am i missing? Do i need the European set in order to open the rail station?

    Thanks in advance

Herald, search first next time... 3.gif

Anyway, the problem with the Grand Railroad Station is that it allows a network to be dragged through it (Rail). There is a special property for it in the sc4lot file, and because it contains this, you can't open it up with the lot editor.

    Thanks for the reply.
I tried searching, but i tried searching for "props" etc instead of "Grand Railroad Station."

    Cheers.

I'm having problems with missing buildings and props as well. I have all the landmarks and all the prop files from Maxis. I've downloaded a few lots from LEX that are RH-approved. I can view and open them in the LE, but when I try to plop them ingame, all I get are the base textures.

And yes, I do have RH installed 1.gif

I am only having the blank lot issue with some of the 'in game' buildings.

I have downloaded quite a few lots/dats lately so I dont know where to begin looking.

The buildings that are not working are the 1x1 Petroleum tank and the 3x3 Maxis theatre. I am not sure of the exact names.

I figure one of the industrial and commercial dats I dloaded lately must have caused this as it occured only recently.

Ugh, I am having problems with buildings not showing up, I am not sure if I have all the props files etc..

Can someone PLEASE post a zip file or somthing that has ALL the needed props from the EA site and any other ones? I think that would make alot of peoples situations easier.

If someone can do this I would be very greatful, thanks.

As for some of the in game buildings not showing up. This can be caused by a lot which has the QueryMainBuilding property set to false. That is a mistake, but even I have made that mistake and that is why I know about it.

So, yet the answer is that you have downloaded a lot that apparantly has that property mistakenly set.

Just move the last batch of lots out of the plugins folder, and test the game. When the tanks show up again, you now know in which batch of the lots the problem exists. By trial and error you can move one at a time back, and test and therefore find out which lot.  One found, please send a PM to the lot creator and notify them of the problem.

What you are asking is a violation of your user agreement which you agreed to when you accepted the user license from Maxis to run the game.

Anyone who posts the Maxis official files on this site will be banned as soon as we know about it (meaning within an hour) and also the post will be deleted just as fast.

You must register your game serial number at the official Maxis site, and then you can download from their site the files which belong to Maxis and are offered to registered users of the game.

    Good luck

I think it may have something to do with lot size.

I'm glad you have this forum up and i found it.. it certainly explains alot of troubles i am having with creating lots with old plugins.. how ever I have only had this game for about 6 weeks I am not sure how I can be picking up old and out-dated and recalled plugin props, I have noticed that some times lot designers include prop plugins with their lot zips, is there a way to solve this promblem? Of course now that I have found what's wrong with my plugins folders I will have to go thru and clean them out, following the instructions above and I don't mind doing that I just don't want to have to keep doing it or have other newbies run into the same promblem.

Ok, here's another angle on this whole missing props issue : I believe there is a strong dislike between the newest release of SC4 and the newest update. I only recently bought the program, and got the Sim City 4 Deleuxe Edition, with Rush Hour. I installed it, and immediately went to Simcity.com for an update, which I installed. Everything runs fine for a while....

I start downloading lots, as I noticed so many boring lots in the game. I run into the same first time problems of some missing parts and such, and solve them. But then I start editing lots with Lot Editor, and notice that many of the ingame lots show pieces in the editor but not in the game! Half of those empty parks aren't really empty! The Minor League stadium has seats ? Who knew?

Anyway, I do tons of research, and come up empty. I decide to start from scratch. I completely un-install everything, and re-install. I run the program just as it's installed, and wow! Everythings there. Hey, houses even have driveways! (Never seen em till now). Neato.

Then I download the update... poof everything goes away. No other changes, but I'm back to no driveways and empty parks. So I un-install, re-install again... everythings back. I ignore the update, add all my other lots back in, mods, etc. Everything is working much better.
The version on my CD is 1.1.610.0 . After the update it WAS 1.1.638.0 .

I reported this to EA Games, but haven't gotten any response yet. I'll post it if they do. I'll also update after a few days of playing to see if this stays fixed, or if the lack of the update seems to affect anything.

I still have a couple lots I downloaded that have no buildings, but a big present over them that says simcity.com. I am guessing these are problems confined to those lots. Any other ideas there?4.gif

Thank you so much for giving this detailed information. I have been asking this same question for weeks now and always get a different answer. It was a pain to go through the process of putting DAT files in correctly but I'm sure it will be worth it. So, to get this completely straight...DAT, landmarks and mods go into the maxis/plugin file and all others (SC4lots) go into the my doc/plugin file correct? Once again, thank you!!!!!<ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/images/smilies/21.gif>

Egads, that was almost embarrassing.  After several days of going back and forth with EA, I found the solution, and it is soooo simple to be annoying. When you install the newest patch, it resets your city details graphic option to LOW.  No particular reason, just to mess with your head.  Reset that to high, and everything pops back up again!  This may explain why several people post stuff about missing props, and it simple enough that many would overlook it.

    @simgoober

hi, i had the same problem with some lots. minorleague-stadiun without seats and flowerpark without flowers.....
try to raise your graphic city-details, low city-details might be the reason.

    for the simcity-boxes at bat-lots.
    bat-lots have 3 files (.sc4lot , .sc4model , .sc4desc). all the files are needed in the plugin-folder.

    hope it help's
