Packeged lots anyone?

Here's the problem:

I downloaded some lots, but I don't have the bats for them. So everytime my city is filled with packeged lots and whatnot. What would happen if I deleted those downloads for my pluing folder? Whould I be able to play my city or will it crash into my desktop?

Thanks!

Two ways around this.

1. Go back to the readme files and download the missing dependency files. That way you can keep the lots in your game.

2. Bulldoze all the lots with brown packages from your cities before you delete them from your plugins folder. If you don't bulldoze first the city may well crash your game.

Hope that helps.

like said above...easiest way to avoid this problem is to read the readme file, but if the lot doesn't have one...or your having troubles locating the proper readme...the SC4Tool program may help too...as it allows you to scan custom content...and tells you if you have all the required dependant files in your game already....sometime if it isn't...it may even give you the file name which you maybe missing and you can search the STEX for this file (s) (sometime it does come up as unknown though)

like said above...don't save a city with these type of buildings....as sometime it may cause all sorts of issues...including crashing your game, speaciallly if it a modded plopable building of some sort ( civic building are most often to blame when this does happen)

Crash the game if you remove BATs before bulldozing them? I've never noticed that. If I remove some BATs, I usually just see almost-empty lots in their place. I can bulldoze them anytime. Often, the empty lots are redeveloped by the game automatically, so I don't have to bulldoze.

Like onlyplace4 said, I have had my game crash when I deleted lots before bulldozing them, but not every time. So I guess this is just another SC4 quirk that *can* happen.
