You've probably seen that problem before. However, I couldn't find similar topic so I'll post here. When I downloaded and rendered the new map, this is how region view looks like: whypleasewhysc40kb.jpg I have Simcity 4 and Rush Hour + newest NAM. No updates installed. Comp: Intel Core Duo 2.0GHz, 1GB DDR2, Geforce 7800, 100GB HD, 17"... Playing game on highest settings and highest resolution...

this is known as the "large city high resolution glitch" 1600x1200 setting...far as i know it  never been patched or fixed...it's just a visual effect...actually has no effect on game play...so if it doesn't bother you personelly you could just leave it

if you wish it to disappear just drop your resolution down a notch and it should go away (not sure if you have to play and save the city for the effect to disappear though)

It doesn't disappear when changing the resolution - at least not for me.

What worked, though, was to render the region in a lower resolution (I tried on 800) and then switch back to 1600.

the solution above by Tolo does work but you have to enter each city tile and resave to fix the region view

Hi Greyveil and Tolomar

I didn't try your solution step-by-step (skipped the saving - I was lazy ;-)), but you are probably right, because I keep reproducing graphic glitches (after correcting them as described above) when returning to 1600 and saving a city. The pattern seems clear: save in low res: gone, save in hi-res: (re)produce.

I assume that there is currently no workaround, unless you are willing to lower the resolution. Any other opinion is welcome :-)

'Fraid that's correct.  The game was never really expected to run at that resolution.

BTW, you must have very good eye-sight or a very big monitor to run at that res.  I have a 19"er and can't run at that.  Maybe I am just getting old.

accually tolo...this isnt exclusive to 1600x1200 resolution...I found out that this effect (happens also when saving developed citys) can happen when the comnputer runs out of avalable ram to complete the requested process, such as saving cities or rendering...

I was having a problem when I was saving some of my cities (yes I had it at 1600x1200 res), I kept having a black ugly boarder at the bottom of my cities (developed). I recently upgraded my system to 2.75 gigs of ram...and low and behold the problem disapeared. I didnt lower my resolution, in fact I still run at the highest res with all setting high....

removed ram upgrade and the problem returns....

testing this idea....

I cracked open my older computer...2.0gig pent  and added the same amount of ram to it as my newer computer...

and was able to run at the highest settings with out problems...

went back to what I had been running the system on before this test (when I was playing full time on it) and the problem returned.

so this effect isnt dependend on processer....it dependent on Ram memory.

granted I am not as computer savy as some of the folks here....I I would be more then happy to have someone with more skillz 4.gif test this out.

Hm... I have same problem.

i first encountered it when i switched to 1600x1200 resolution and it isn't exclusive to it, but seems to be for all resolutions of about of1280x1024. Currently i run the game at 1920x1600 and problem is here...

Bourneid: what was amount of RAm in your old computer?? and how much is it 2.75 gigs of ram??( I just presume you have 4 modules installed?? what configuration??) I have 2 Gb of RAM. at the moment all banks are full (4x512Mb) but i probably would change 2 of 512 for 2 of 1Gb if that would deal away with those lines and help other things in the computer as well :-)Hm... I have same problem.
