This is the Amryai Metro Area (and some other surrounding towns and cities). I haven't used any modified buildings from here, since I only joined Simtropolis today. I'm almost done with the region, but there are some parts that i'm still working on. I know my cities aren't very good, but i made the major cities and their suburbs a few months ago; I've improved since then and the newer towns that I haven't taken pictures of show that. Anyway, here are the pictures I have so far:

<ahttp://img107.exs.cx/img107/1239/amryaiaug161410814751104dp.png align=baseline>

This is the city of Amryai early on, but I can't remember what the population is. I think it was about 30,000 or so.

<ahttp://img107.exs.cx/img107/3273/amryaijan83410849349856cl.png align=baseline>

This is an old picture, when the stadium was new.

<ahttp://img107.exs.cx/img107/936/amryaioct23710850919317vg.png align=baseline>

This is a fairly old picture: it was taken before the Government District was reorganized, and the population was only 90,000 at the time.

<ahttp://img107.exs.cx/img107/2220/amryaidec285011120475660sm.png align=baseline>

The recently remodeled Government District. The blank areas are where I'm planning to add some more government buildings when they become available. This is also the oldest part of Amryai, although curiously the areas surrounding the Government District are all slums; the nice neighborhoods and high-rises are in the newest areas of the city.

<ahttp://img107.exs.cx/img107/6683/amryaifeb255111120478324vk.png align=baseline>

The Central Business District. The stock exchange is located here, and this area is the center of commerce for the region. Oddly, the CBD is located on the other side of town from the Government district.

The Amryai Metro Area and surrounding towns and cities.

Transportaion map of the Amryai area.

Amryai currently has 127,000 people (on the map, it's the city with the municipal airport). The next largest city is Allembiosi (the city closest to the right edge of the region) which recently had a population explosion, growing from 22,000 to 46,000 inhabitants in only a few years.

I hope you like my region so far, there's alot more to come!

Amryai,  First off welcome to Simtrop...10.gif

The pictures you linked to were just the thumbnails on imageshack.  You need to pull the direct link or a link to the full size at imageshack.  That way we can see the whole picture.  It does look like a pretty good city and region, but the pics are a bit small.....10.gif

    OK, first of all, don't bump your own post after 1 1/2 hours, that's like almost no time for people to reply. You can't expect everybody on Simtrop to reply to your CJ within 90 minutes. Second, give it time, lots of people will notice this CJ, but negatively if you manage to bump your own post in a little more than an hour again. The region looks good, but don't whine and complain if 3 hours after the initial update, there is only 1 reply. I'll stick around if you promise not to do this anymore. Actually, I'll stick around anyways, because this looks awesome. Keep it up.

    People aren't ignoring your cj, it's just that most people look at cities and most don't comment. In my cj, I think I have like 2% of the people that visit actually commenting. (For anyone from the don't plug journals thread, I am not trying to do it here! 3.gif) Don't worry about it. You actually do have a pretty cool region. Your downtown is very nice, and it is VERY good compared to what some newcomers post here.

    You should check out the STEX, or ST Exchange. There are tons of custom maps, buildings, modds, and lots that enhance game play 150%.

    BTW: Welcome to Simtropolis! 39.gif

    EDIT: RHF, cool down man! The guy only signed up here today!

    I'm not mad or anything, just making it clear about bumping and stuff. Don't want him to turn out to be an annoyance or anything...I'm chillaxed, don't worry.

    This is really a coo cj.  The city is amazing.  You should godownload some BAT Files.  They'll make this city look 50% cooler!  Welcome to simtropolis, Amryai200.  Keep up this cj, and this will be probably the best cj made by a newcomer.44.gif29.gif9.gif2.gif

    RHF: that was immature of me, sorry, i won't do that anymore

    gundamdude/MayorTim: thanks, i was looking through the BATs but i can't find any way to download them. I want them really bad though; how do you download them?

    <ahttp://i160.exs.cx/img160/2816/enteringriverheights9ue.png align=baseline>

    Now we leave Amryai and travel west on I-8 into River Heights, population 581 (if memory serves me correctly).

     <ahttp://i160.exs.cx/img160/343/niceneighborhoods3ly.png align=baseline>

    Located on the region's primary river, River Heights is a wealthy town, probably the wealthiest in the entire region. Yep, I wouldn't mind living here at all.

    <ahttp://i160.exs.cx/img160/6274/freewayuse2sy.png align=baseline>

    Unfortunately, I-8 is used only by busses to enter River Heights. Oddly, there is no bus station for the busses to go to. Until now.

    <ahttp://i160.exs.cx/img160/8568/newbusstation0ix.png align=baseline>

    Ah, that's better.

    <ahttp://i160.exs.cx/img160/8386/riverheights6zy.png align=baseline>

    Well, now it's time to move on.

    <ahttp://img60.exs.cx/img60/5706/enteringwestamryai2tl.png align=baseline>

    West Amryai is rather bigger than River Heights, with a population of about 10,000 (making it the fourth largest city in the region).

    <ahttp://img60.exs.cx/img60/1553/scenter9rd.png align=baseline>

    The center of West Amryai. Not very exciting, is it?

    <ahttp://img60.exs.cx/img60/5661/westamryainov230711120660835nu.png align=baseline>

    The eastern side of West Amryai was recently rezoned for high-density residential, which resulted in a population jump from 8,000 to a little under 11,000 and growing.

    <ahttp://img60.exs.cx/img60/5885/westamryai4oq.png align=baseline>

    And here's the city of West Amryai.

    <ahttp://img60.exs.cx/img60/2882/leavingwestamryai4qf.png align=baseline>

    And now we move west to the next town, which you'll get to see today or tomorrow. Stay tuned!!!

    You see the one you want, you click details.  Then you click download BAT, and it will tell you how much space it takes up.. blablabla.  Then, you say save, and then choose where you want to put the file, (Just keep it where it already is).  After that you go on my documents, wherever you put the file, you right click on it, then click extract all.  You click my documents, Sim City 4, Plugins, OK.  Then, it will show you your plugins folder.  If the files are there, you have them in the game!  Tell me if you need help!

    GREAT CJ  UPDATE SOON44.gif44.gif44.gif44.gif

    Nice work. 44.gif

    Just one thing, nothing major but it always bugs me and will help the visual look of your city. When building highways (or even avenues, but especially highways), try and make sure the land they are going onto is flat, otherwise you get what looks more like a rollercoaster ride for you sims. Your highway by the central business district looks really good because you built it on flat land, but the I-8 is very lumpy. I find the best way to make the land flat is to use single tiles of streets next to each other, so that you end up with single tile-long streets where you want to place your highway. You can then place your highway straight on top of them and they dissapear as you do this. I have found this also helps when planning where I want my highway to go aswell. Obviously, if you are going up a hill then adjust this method to compenstate for it.

    Keep up the good work!

    Excellent work, good luck with downloading some of the awesome BATs here at Simtrop! West Amyrai looks excellent, especially with the mid-rise development on the east side, which looks to be the new thriving downtown core.

    I like how you developed a tunnel so that the highway would go under the windmills, it's an excellent use of the SC4 transportation system. Great work, I'm subscribing to this one!

    Okay well, first off, that's not going to work.  When you save the file, and is placed somewhere in my documents, you right click the file.  Then you should see Extract All... then, you will see an area where you will chose where to put it.  You then click My Documents, then Sim City 4, then Plugins.  Then okay.  It will show you your plugins folder, and if the file is there, like it would be Denny's Resturaunt by whoever made it, (Sometime it does not say who made it, that does not matter,) if it is in theplugins folder, it's on the game.  But, copy and paste won't work.  I've tried that/
    Hope it works!  Tell me you need more help!44.gif

    i'm not trying to bump my CJ or anything, but i'd just like to tell you all that the next update should be tomorrow, and hopefully it will be pretty extensive. i've been busy with school this week and i haven't had time to update (mainly because SC4 runs ridiculously slow on my computer), but tomorrow i should have time. also, thanks for all the positive feedback guys, i didn't think anyone would like my CJ this much! 9.gif

    Okay, now we're entering Troutdale.

    <ahttp://img191.exs.cx/img191/200/downtowntroutdale8mo.png align=baseline>

    Like most of Amryai's suburbs, Troutdale is pretty dull, but it does have one of the only high-end luxury car dealerships in the region (by the way, I had to lower commercial taxes to 0% to get this to develop; commercial demand automatically starts off negative in all the cities in this region and I don't know why. Isn't there a cheat or a mod that helps raise demand? I think I've seen some people talking about it back when i lurked here).

    <ahttp://img191.exs.cx/img191/4936/troutdale0kv.png align=baseline>

    And here's the entire town.

    <ahttp://img191.exs.cx/img191/7328/leavingtroutdale1lz.png align=baseline>

    And now on to the next town...

    <ahttp://img191.exs.cx/img191/9181/goldbeach9un.png align=baseline>

    This is Gold Beach. That's it for the suburbs on the west side of Amryai. My next update will cover the towns on the other side, and the sort-of twin city, Allemboisi.

    well, i'm not sure if it worked or not, since i've only played SC4 for a few minutes since i downloaded the BAT. commercial demand is so horrible though, that i might never get it even if i did download it correctly (and i think i did do it right)
