Update 45: New Knowledge and New Limbs

October 2nd, 0155AL

<The infirmary>

Brad: How are you feeling?

Brian: Much better now, it doesn't hurt anymore, at least as long as someone doesn't poke it

Brad: What about what happened after that in the ship?

Brian: I don't know. I tried moving small objects around without touching them, but nothing happened. I may have to be half asleep in order to do it, or someone or something else did that.

Brad: Uh...

Brian: What?

Brad: I just have this feeling that someone is coming, and I don't know--

Intercom System: Incoming wormhole!

Brian: That kind of someone coming?

Brad: Maybe.

Meanwhile, Captain Thobe watches from the briefing room as the stargate shield deactivates, and a wheelchair followed by someone pushing it though the gate. A closer look showed her that it was Lord Zexion and Lianne from New Carpathia.

<Colonel Yelslew's lab area, where Colonel Yelslew and Tlarako (Rebel 2) are examining the power sources that were brought back from DPM-6's first mission>

Colonel Yelslew: So, they get their power from antimatter-matter reactions?

Tlarako: No, that is used only to get the plates inside resonating, from there they generate power directly from the space around them. Though once the small amount of antimatter they hold is depleted, they die.

Colonel Yelslew: Couldn't you just add more antimatter?

Tlarako: No, the plates are also weakened by the resonating, if you refill the antimatter in them, you risk having one or more of the plates to shatter, which would cause the antimatter to leak out of containment.

Colonel Yelslew: That wouldn't be good.

Tlarako: No, but the small amount present will make sure the damage won't be too bad. The power source will be destroyed, though.

Colonel Yelslew: What are these plates made out of?

Tlarako: It is a metal that I believe you call Zakulanira. It is the best metal for the resonating, in both ease of resonating, strength, and amount of power emitted. It is heavy, though. Now that you have a general idea on what they are and how to use them, I have to leave.

Colonel Yelslew: Why?

Tlarako: We must get back to the Blitkarni Rebellion's base in order to report what we have learned during our time on the Blikora.

Colonel Yelslew: Oh, okay. Will we see you again?

Tlarako: Maybe not us in particular, but it is quite likely that you will meet other members of the Blitkarni Rebellion in the future.

He leaves the room, and after finding Mlortak, the other rebel, they head back to the gateroom.

Tlarako: Where is the DHD at?

 Captain Thobe: Its in a room next to the control room.

Mlortak: Okay.

Meanwhile, Lord Zexion and Lianne's limo enters the south side of Galesfe City and turns left down a street near the waterfront.

After traveling several blacks, the turn left again and head down a hill toward two massive skyscrapers on the waterfront.

Their limo turns left and drives into one of the skyscrapers, then down a ramp into an underground parking lot. From there, they walk over to an elevator, and get in. After traveling up for around 20 seconds, they emerge in a lobby area, where they are greeted by one of the staff.

 ???: Hello, you must be Lord Zexion and Lianne from New Carpathia.

 Lord Zexion: That is correct.

 ???: I am Doctor Rachel Emmagan, and I will be part of the team during your operations.

Lianne: Hoist the mainsail!

 Dr. Emmagan: What?

 Lord Zexion: He's happy.

 Dr. Emmagan: Oh. You want a normal arm to replace the one that was damaged by Melkor, and Lianne wants a metal arm and leg to replace those that he lost previously.

Lianne: Yes!

 Lord Zexion: Correct.

 Dr. Emmagan: Now if you would follow me, we will be able to prepare you for the operation.

The twin towers where the artificial limb facility is located. I'm not sure who they hired to design the buildings, but they picked an interesting color layout for the buildings...

Ah, very nice, very nice. Just fine with the writing. I just hope Lianne's occasional piratey randomness doesn't freak out the staff too much.

And it seems like everyone else is getting a crash course in alien technology. Good good.

Also...  I know I've seen those big pointy towers somewhere, but I don't remember where they're from...

Update 46: Cyborgs and Starships

October 4th, 0155AL

Two days after the operation both Lord Zexion and Lianne are preparing to head back to New Carpathia after the staff made sure northing was wrong, and that they were adjusted to their new limbs.

Lord Zexion: Lianne, are you ready?

Lianne: Aye aye, captain!

Lord Zexion: Before we go home, there is something I have to pick up, though it shouldn't take long.

Lianne: Okay.

Lord Zexion: You know, you look like a character from some ridiculous comic book...

They got in the limo, and headed back to the RDPM though the growing storm.

<The briefing room>

General Lanotu Karotasho: Okay, as you should know, Myon has been recently designing a new class of ship, the CS-2.

Brad: Yes.

General Karotasho: You will be going on a different type of mission this time, to a planet named Myarun. While the planet does have a stargate, you will take the CS-2 Valmal to scan the planet and see if it is suitable for an off-world base.

Tifalka: Sounds interesting.

General Karotasho: While you are there, there will also be a test of the CS-2's new beam weapon technology as well, to examine its effectiveness against ground targets. One of the GS-1s will be transported there with the Valmal to give another viewing angle for the test.

Brian: When will we be going?

General Karotasho: It will be next week, for two reasons. First, they still have to finish adjusting the systems to the new power source you retrieved on your last mission, and Brian, although you appear to be fully recovered already, Dr. Karut wants to make sure you are okay.

Intercom System: General Karotasho, please report to the control room, Lord Zexion is here too see you.

...

Brian: What does Dr. Karut say about you, Marikalf?

Marikalf: I just used too much energy, all I needed was some rest, even if it was for 3 days.

Captain Thobe: First time using the GS-1s I see, other than finding out who can operate them.

Colonel Yelslew: The scientists have yet to figure out how only some people can operate them, but it seems to have something to do with DNA as people related to those who can operate them have a higher probability of being able to operate them themselves.

The CS-2 Valmal, the first ship of its class built, out in the rain. While much smaller, it is roughly equally matched with the CS-1 class, due to being much more maneuverable, and due to the CS-1s weapon arrangement.

Update 47: The planet Myarun

October 14th, 0155AL

<The CS-2 Valmal, which has just arrived in the system that Myarun is located in>

Brian: We're here already?

Marikalf: Yes, the upgrades to the Wapbervklex drive and the new power system sure helped.

 Captain Thobe: Without them, it would have taken around 3 to 4 weeks, not it only takes 2 days.

 Intercom System: Brad, Brian, and Captain Thobe, please report to Hangar 15

Brad: Odd.. There are only two hangars and they name them Hangar 12 and Hangar 15.

Brad sits down in the pilots seat of a GS-1, while Brian and Captain Thobe get in seats on the right side of the craft. The hangar door opens, and they fly though the shield holding the air in the hangar.

Brad: I like this ship, it goes exactly where you want to go just by thinking about it!

Brian: When can I fly?

Brad: Next time we fly one of these.

 Captain Thobe: We are approaching the target site now, you may begin testing.

First Officer Vashuri: Acknowledged, beginning firing sequence.

8 small beams emerged from the front of the ship and began to converge on two targets on the asteroid moon of Myarun, then they were replaced with 2 larger beams which quickly began blasting two holes in the moon's surface.

First Officer Vashuri: Did you collect the data?

 Captain Thobe: Yes.

Captain Laura: We are now approaching the planet, so prepare four you next mission.

Before she can respond, two other ships drop out of hyperspace between them and the planet.

Captain Laura: Shields, full power!

Brad: I think now would be a good time to cloak...

 Communications System: We are the Dlorwani, and you will pay for what you have done on the planet Tloro.

The two ship opened fire on the Valmal immediately after transmitting their message.

First Officer Vashuri: Evasive maneuvers, now!

Captain Laura: Return fire on the lead ship!

Brad: The GS-1 has weapons, right?

 Captain Thobe: Yes, but they can only hold 6 of them, and the scientists have no idea of what they are.

Brian: It couldn't hurt to try them, right?

 Captain Thobe: Yes, go for it.

4 glowing yellow objects shot from the GS-1 toward the second Dlorwani ship, which they impacted as if the ship didn't have shields at all. After the fourth hit, the ship began to break apart, with explosions appearing all over the ship's surface.

First Officer Vashuri: Shield power down to 47%

Captain Laura: The other ship just blew up!

First Officer Vashuri: GS-1, was that you?

 Captain Thobe: Yes

Captain Laura: Open fire on the other one now!

Brad: Okay.

Brian: Nothing's happening.

Brad: I'm trying!

Captain Laura: GS-1, please respond.

Brad: Of all the GS-1s in the base, we just had to pick the one that had two less weapons that the others.

Captain Laura: Wait, I think they just lost shields!

First Officer Vashuri: We tested every other weapon system, should we use the DPMs as well?

Captain Laura: Yes, launch DPMs!

The DPMs plowed into the ship, marking the place where they entered with a small explosion, while the solid metal head of the missiles ripped though the inside of the ship. The ship began to slow its weapons fire, and soon stopped entirely after more than 40 DPMs had turned the ship into swiss cheese.

First Officer Vashuri: Shield power is at 43%, and both targets have been eliminated.

Captain Laura: GS-1, return now, the exploration to the planet has been canceled, in case more Dlorwani ships appear.

Notes:

Captain Laura is in the spaceforce (same ranks as navy), while Captain Thobe is in the airforce.

Schulmanator: I'm not sure. It carried 100g of antimatter, which should last around 100 years, so somewhere around 2.7 milligrams a day. That number also depends on how much power is needed, so it is likely to be higher or lower. And then there is the power source taken from the Dlorwani...

Zelgadis: I had already finished reading Deathly Hallows by the time I did that update... Camouflaged? It wasn't really designed to be, might be because of all the rain.

Update 48: Doranar Biotech

Nick: We will be doing the city updates now, as Brad and --

Nikki: Brad and Brian are doing other stuff.

Nick: Hey!

Nikki: You're still to slow.

Nick: The HQ for Doranar Biotech is located just northwest of Renmalnë, which you saw earlier.

Nikki: Doranar Biotech modifies plants to make them better... or just different.

Nick: Such as better disease resistance, more fruit, and changing the way they look.

Nikki: Here is where they do the experiments on the plants.

Nick: Well, not in the open field there.

Nikki: That is for growing plants to modify. Currently it seems to be apples.

Nick: This is where the plants are grown that have been certified for use outside of lab conditions.

Nikki: And here, too.

Nick: This is the visitors center, where they can go on a tour though a sample lab, as well as buy their own modified plants.

Nikki: Hey, there's a shop here!

Nick: Well, if you want to call it that...

Nick: This the where the main operations are run from, and is also where Daniel Doranar lives.

Nikki: When he isn't off going to meetings, that is.

Nikki: Their Lyra Ensembla registration card.
