When I find a map I like (i.e. Griswold, CT 2x2, JayStimson), I click "download", right click on the greyscale image, and save said image to "My Pictures" folder. I open Sim City, go to one of the blank, pre-created regions I've made previously, open said region (with appropriate bitmap size already installed- 2x2 large cities), do the "alt-shift-ctrl-r" deal... but now I cannot find the saved greyscale image! Every other image I have saved in the folder is available to select, except the Griswold, CT 2x2 that I know I saved not two minutes earlier. This has only been a problem since I've tried using maps from the new site- SimTrop4.0 I had no probs- the whole process worked beautifully! WTH? Am I doin' something different / should I do something different? (And, no, placing it in the region folder doesn't help- still doesn't show up!) Help!!!!!

Good question. Your full path for your your user account's documents is C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\My Documents, if you use Windows XP or Windows 2000. The path for Windows 98 profiles are normally C:\Windows\Profiles\User Name\My Documents.

Yeah, I've also had that problem. I've got a tip: place the map files somewhere else. I keep all of mine map files in C:\sc4\maps (I made the folder myself). Simple.

I found it easier to set the file target of My documents to an external drive, which I have. I store my terrains in H:\SimCity 4\Terrains, becasue the target of My Documents in my scenario is the root of the external drive.

the jpeg can be saved in any file...depending on the file you chose to put it in...make a new one is what I ussually do...

could there be more than 1 user on your sysyem and you just not able to get to the file folders where the jpeg is saved...do you have admin powers on your PC ?

Wait! I figured out how to get it to work!!! Woo-hooooooooooo! After I dl'd the greyscale to "My Pics" folder, I opened it with Windows Pic and Fax Viewer, then saved the opened image to my Paint Shop Pro program. I then opened PSP, edited the image to true greyscale and "ta-da"!!! Thank you both for the suggestions, though!
