Yes the Bank of America tower is very gorgeous.  I used it as my Seven World Trade Center until Nintendomaster released his.  I'm excited for Rubik to creat his own now.  Nintendo's was a amazing job and so beautiful, but Rubik's would come from his own hand and complete this project so nicely.  Rubik is just an amazing talent and I'm glad to be a part of a community where he is.

Rubik, your towers grace many of my finest cities, and they look spectacular on any skyline in Simcity!  29.gif

I fixed my problem with a slight change in the mod, I just deleted the LTEXT file that had Disable Future Reconstruction.

Miles - This is what you need to download.  4 prop packs that contains all of the buildings and props.  The texture pack which contains the avenue textures.  Then you can pick which of the 3 lots you want to download.

So where was that LText file located...which modd?

I don't have the one on the STEX, I got mine somewhere else and it had a lot files.
There's one for bus stops, civic buildings, RCI, Ferry Terminal, John Hancock Center, Landfill, Water Pump, Water Treatment Plant, and a Small-Scale UI Alteration File<That's the one it was in.

Do you think the Maxis Crew will make this game go First Person? Because that would be awesome. I remember a while ago they had a Sim Copter and Streets of Sim City, and those were First Person. But it would be nice if they did it to Sim City 4.

Well I think Will Wright has had that vision ever since the first SC.  It's only a matter of time until computer power is able to handle it, and with the Sims2 supposedly being completely 3d it might very well be a possibility for the assumed SC5.  It is definately something that Maxis wants to do...they are just waiting for Bill Gates to come up with the next big thing.

Thanks FMorel.  I'll make sure to let others at the BSC know about the problem and the solution.  But seeing as it isn't a modd on this site I don't think that there will be too many problems reported.

Well it was a good weekend and I was able to get a lot of Seven WT done.  As you can see it's pretty close to finished, but I still have quite a few small details to add to the base.

I pretty much have all the images of the building I need unless somebody can find a pic of the back side of the building (the long wall facing away from the WTC) or pics of the large pedestrian overpass (not the tubular one)

I hope the next SC game is in full 3D.......TS2 actually runs pretty well on my computer, and by the time SC5 comes out in late 2005 or early 2006 (just a guess, really), I'm sure computers would have the ability to handle the game in full 3d.....

Great work on 7 rubik. You're really hitting it quickly.

About going 3D, if they can pull it off without needing a Govt supercomputer, I'm all for it. Heck, I'd be happy with a free-rotating version of SC4.

oh my.  I really dont know what to say...  Rubik, that is the most realistic building I have ever seen.  I have messed around with the off- tint windows and never acheived the same effect.  That is amazing.
What did you do, apply a reflection map, if so, which one? Or did you apply a different solid color texture to each window?

A question for you rubik, will the 7th building be a prop or a building?

It will most likely be a prop.  Why, do you have a preference?

As for the windows I created my own texture map from a SC screenshot.  I tweaked it quite a bit adding blur and distortion, then added in a black tint.  Then I made 4 versions with slightly different color hues and created 8 materials from them with differing opacity values.

Well I might take it on in a couple of months.  But I want to get this project completely finished before I do.

I just found this nighttime shot of the plaza with Ideogram in the foreground.  http://www.slippyvillage.com/photos/gv2001/P3220007.jpg  that I thought I would share.  I might have to go back and change 4-6 now that I have a pic of the twinkle lights on top of them.

Here are some research material, if you don't have them already:

The Barclay-Vesey Building (Name after the streets where it's located in between), featuring the 7 WTC in the background.

Side of base, taken from the sidewalk of the main WTC complex. Notice the 7 WTC signs near the corner.

Another base shot taken from the WTC complex. There is a red sculpture loacted at the bottom right area of the screen, in front of 7.

View to the top, facing the twin towers.

7 WTC, facing the twin towers, featuring the upper portion only.

Here's another couple of satellite photos, although they don't show the building clearly:

Satellite image, showing the intact World Trade Center from above, looking southward.

Satellite image, showing the intact World Trade Center from above, looking northward.

Thanks Grover, but apart from one pic I've seen them all.  But that one pic is a much needed one as it shows a little more detail on that overpass then I've seen before.  And that is basically the only thing I need now apart from the rear entrance.  I got a pretty good idea of the rear entrance from this video, http://911review.org/Media/Bld7.mov , but it doesn't show the close up detail I would like.  That movie also shows just how much damage the building recieved from the towers collapsing and the fires that engulfed the front of the building shortly before it collapsed.

When you released the wtc construction site, I had no idea that the 7th building wasn't on there.  But when I plopped the entire complex, I realized that the 7th building wasn't there.  What I'm planning to do is go into the LE and  put the 7th building in the grassy area on the WTC complex lot.

I decided to model the red sculpture (Bent Propellor, Alexander Calder). It's compressed in a zip file. I also included a PSD format texture of the sculptor's signature color, Calder Red.

I've had experience modelling Calder sculptures, so I figured I'd give you a hand.

You should build the bridge, to the WTC, and the overhead hanging thingy above Vessay Street.  Also, the enterence looks a little plain, the glass entry way is just...there.  It doesn't quite look how I remembered, I can't explain why, I'll try to find you some more pictures.

*jaw hits floor, promptly followed by rest of the body...

I love it.  Especially the roof.  I need to go back and re-design the roof junk on my high-rises now...  The windows are some of the best texturing I've seen... varied but not too much of a contrast.

Any chance you could release the texture you used for the main wall? (If it is a texture....2.gif)

Also, is this in 3ds or Gmax?

Well the 7th building wasn't really part of the complex.  It was a privately owned building unlike the rest of the complex, and it sat across from the WTC to the left of the TE'd avenue.  So placing it in the grassy area wouldn't be accurate and that grassy area is actually there, part of the WFC complex though in real life it's not quite as big.

Wow, great job.  I always sucks at freeform sculpture modelling so this is a load off my back.  What I'll probably do, unless you want to do it, is create a prop out of it so that it will respond to a hover query.  Then I can either include it in the prop pack I'll be releasing for this building (with proper credits of course), or give it to you to release as a single prop that I can include it as a linked dependecy, it's your call.

Well the base isn't done yet, hence no closeup of it.  Both overpasses will be done and the large overpass (not the tubular one) is the only thing I need pictures of.  I've got pretty much everything else covered except for the loading dock.  And FYI you can edit one post instead of making multiple posts in a row.  Multiple small posts makes for less info per page....just something to keep in mind.

Well unfortunately it is a texture I created for a company when I used to work for them, so it is actually their texture and I can't start giving it out.

And it is in Gmax, though I should have done it in 3ds.  But for some reason I started in Gmax and by the time I thought about 3ds I was done with the floors and windows.

I know it won't look too accurate, but I've already terraformed an entire city based around an island where the WTC complex is gonna be.  The 7th building is looking really good so far!

    Ahh, well that makes sense.

Here's a couple of shots of the backside of the building where I had to fake a lot of the entry detail.  If someone can find some closeups of that entry i'll change it, but apart from some door detailing and some texture tweaks I think this side is done.

Here's what I've compiled, based on the far shots of the wider crossing:

    WTCCrossings.th.gif

If you looked closely, there appears to be a staircase-like planter with large square barriers at the side of the crossing connecting the main plaza, with the sculpture at the 7 WTC's side. There also appears to be a section of darker tiling at the main plaza's side.

As for close-ups of the crossing, searches on the Bent Propeller sculpture, nearby WTC low-rises and WTC 7 have not produced any good results. I'll continue with other nearby buildings besides the main WTC complex.

Just release the model in your prop pack.

Grover - I've only found 2 color photos of Bent Propellor. I modelled it off that, and the interior frame is simply faked, based on what I could get from those two pictures.

Interestingly, 75% of the metal from the sculpture has been recovered. The sculpture will be restored to its original condition by Calder's estate, and most likely placed in either the new complex or Battery Park.

7WTC looks great! I love how good that loading dock looks.

Well the main overpass has looked different in every picture I've seen so far.  Even these two pics on emporis look completely different. http://www.emporis.com/en/il/im/?id=177968   http://www.emporis.com/en/il/im/?id=197701 .  So I think I just have to pick which pic to go off of.

Hmm, last I heard they were still undecided whether to restore it or display it in it's deformed state.  I'm glad his son decided to restore it though.

Well too bad I have to change it all now 8.gif.  I just found this pic showing the real location of the loading dock.
