I agree, I agree!
Hey SG, still looking for tenants?
It'd be great if you could consider a Gap Outlet or a Banana Republic Outlet
Simtrop doesn't have neither of these yet.

He heee...  Sports Authority is rendering, and BTW Galyons (sp!) no longer exists.  They were bought by Dicks.  The local one around here is putting up a new sign....

Others already on the list include Old Navy, Staples and Mens Warehouse.  Actually, I have a long list, so we'll see where it ends...

You should try indoor malls, the ones that's a building with bits added on, and a few anchor stores. Those are more realistic than strip malls.

They are both realistic, and maybe a Babies R Us is on the list lol17.gif

Yeah, but he has already made a few strip malls, and the game doesn't have any of the realistic indoor suburban blocky malls, like the ones made in the 60s-early90s

Here is an example of an indoor mall's layout, built in 1965, added to in 1970, 1976, 1982, 1988, 1994, 1996, and 2001. It doesn't mark when what was added, but it's an exapmple of the size of one. They usually have anchor stores, so you could just make 5 or 6 stores connected in the same mall, and a few other parts where other stores poke out to the outside. :P

I will actually be re-creating a mid-sized (777,000 ft2) suburban shopping mall in the not-to-distant future.  Anchor stores include Sears, JCPenny, and Kaufmann's (aka Filene's, formerly Sibley's).

Wondering what other brand names are on his list.....30.gif

The Mosque model and lot are done, but the modding is taking a little while.  It will be a reward lot; Daeley has been really helpful putting it together.  I'm putting the final touches on it, and I hope to have it out for next Sunday.

    SG,

Looks awesome. A Harley Store would look cool in the strip mall. Your one of the few that could pull it off and make it look great.

I think I found a problem with your Ritz-Carlton. When I query it, I hear the sound but no query window opens.

I used you don't deserve it, could this have something to do with it?

That problem was fixed in an update; the query had a stray GID number, which has been corrected.  I am not sure if this will work on already placed buildings... sorry.

Also, I have updated this weeks uploads, to include a manual install option.  This doubles the size of the download, so hopefully this doesn't cause any problems.

It's ok, I can just show it the harsh face of the bulldozer and put it back. Thanks for letting me know there was an update, I probably wouldn't have known otherwise.

Here's a little update on the shopping center project.  I'm making the building very similar, so they can be in families and get random placement when plopped.  Still have several to go, then final modding of the lots, but I got a bunch done.  There will be variations and buildings on 4 wide, 3 wide and 2 wide lots, that go edge to edge, so they can be plopped side by side for the size center you want.  I'll also make a couple premade larger lots with several on them.

I love the concepts and the execution, SG, there's only one little thing I want to suggest---- so far it looks as if you have used the exact same base texture for the roofs of all your models. Perhaps you coud try using a different texture, just so that the repetition doesn't become so obvious.... Something gravel-ish maybe?

lol... actually I have a collection of base textures for roofs, they are all just fairly similar.  I have them in different configurations for different size roofs, lighter and darker, with cracks, without, dark around the edges, not, etc.  I think all told there are about 24 different ones.  I guess I need to come up with another set.  I was keeping all these pretty similar, as this set ideally would have been built by the same contractor, and they would have used to the same materials.  Same with the HVAC units on the roof.  Minor variations, but all the same basic model.

Have you made an Old Navy yet? A few days ago, everyone who subscribes to our local paper got a coupon for the new Old Navy opening at Thunder Centre (new mall) but when people went there to use them (and by people, I mean women18.gif) the Old Navy was still under construction! It doesn't open until November 20th18.gif It was the top story on the news the other day.
