  1. Official BAT Request Thread

I have a request for a 1x1 custom BAT/Lot for my CJ. Plopable and terrain comforming. I will always be using it in the side of a hill. Here is a picture I made in Photoshop of what I need align=baseline> If anyone out there could do this for me, I would be very grateful. I am teaching myself gMax, but it is slow going. You can PM me or answer here. Thanks in advance.
  2. New "How To" Sticky needed

First, let me say GREAT JOB to Dirk and the admins. This new forum seems to be working much faster and cleaner than the last one was. But we need, or at least I need, a new sticky on the "how to"s of sig and picture posting. I am anxious to get my CJ going again, but I can't figure out how to get my pics from Image Shack to my posts. I am not an html or xml guru like many of the others here, so I need a little help. Thanks in advance, mudspreader PS - A preview feature for posts would be nice too

The previous forum had an "add image" button. I know how to host the pic off-site, as I have a CJ in progress with all pics being at ImageShack. But that little button does not exist here. There is an "attach code" button and a place for "attach files". The "attach files" button will cause the pic to be uploaded, and therefore hosted on-site, which we all don't want. So I am back to my original question. How do I host my pics off-site and then post them in my CJ? ( I hope I am not being dense, as I figured out how to do it without any help at all in the old forum ) quote> You can do it without buttons, like the tutorial shows. Use this code: quote> Thank you SkiGeek. I will try that. But the tutorial didn't have that red circle when I read it. It told me to do it the way that I was used to, which won't work here. EDIT: Thanks again SkiGeek. It worked fine!

I am not "nit-picking". I just want to continue my CJ and I have no clue how to post pictures, as the user interface has changed. I also completely understand "in-progress". I think opening the forums was an excellent idea, and I certainly hope that the forums do not close down simply because I requested help on how to post pics.
  6. Who has a problem with commute time?

I have the NAM and I still get ridiculous commute times. Subways, buses, trains, and still get commute times of over 40 minutes. This actually brings up another point. A large city is only 4 km wide. How in h*** can it take 40+ minutes to go 4 km?
  7. Eric nailed it. Tiles are 16m x 16m. A small city is 64 tiles wide. 64x16=1024m, or 1.024km. A large city is 256 tiles wide. 256x16=4096m, or 4.096km. 4096/1609=2.545 miles. 100,000/2.545=39,292.73 large cities to reach 100,000 miles.
  8. New Amsterdam - Capital of Simland

Being a resident of Westchester County, NY, and the fact that I am in NYC often, I have got to say that this CJ is FANTASTIC!! The attention to detail, while being constrained by the limits of the game, is supurb! Keep up the great work. And Duke...lighten up man!

  10. Welcome to ST! I too am a $%&^! and learning the finer points of using the many lots and BATs available to us here. Glad you're enjoying it and I will echo your thanks to the batters and modders!
  11. Metropolis

Nice start. I believe that the pics are larger than 800x600 though, and that is going to make the powers-that-be unhappy to the point of removing them. I suggest downsizing them.
  12. Cape Meridian

Really nice looking work! I have a question though. Are all those skyscrapers plopped BATs? I ask because the development looks to be about the same as a city I am working on, but I have nothing taller than a mid-rise condo. Keep up the good work.
  13. Diagonal Jagged Edges Mod

If it really does what you say, then two thumbs up and a "10" for sure! Can't wait to get home and download it!
  14. Myrtle, The Seaside Cities

To quote soldyne, you skills have definitely improved since page 1. One thing I noticed, perhaps because I am an aviaton fanatic, the runway at the airport is a little dangerous at the ends. Keep up the good work.
  15. Orange Bay

Sorry to hear that your first city bit the dust. I feel your pain. My first cj, Richardson County, suffered the same fate. I learned a valuable lesson then, which I will share with you now. BACK UP YOUR CITY!! When you get this up to 6 or 7 pages, or more, you will be really bummed out if you lose it. Since starting my current CJ, Landfall, I back it up every time I update. Good looking work so far. Keep it up.
  16. Mountain Roads - A Mini Tutorial by Rochefort

Great tutorial. I have an upcoming situation in my CJ that this will be very useful on. Thanks.
  17. The Legend of the Silver Comet

Very imaginative approach to CJing! Keep up the good work, Some more pictures would be nice.
  18. Urland, a (mostly) rural coastline

Great looking CJ Nardo! I figured I better come take a look-see since you visit mine with frequency. Well worth the trip! Looks great! Two bunnies and a ducky at least ! I got some real good tips on rural layout. Gonna apply them in Landfall for sure..
  19. Anduin Valley Revisited

Amazing CJ! I can't believe I am posting here on page 72! I have been in ST for just over a month. I started reading this one, at Page 1, the other day. Up to Page 7 now, and I am absolutely flabberghasted at the quality of your work. I have learned some great stuff that I am incorporating in my own CJ. I just had to come here to compliment you before reading the remaining 65 pages. Once again, AMAZING!
  20. Cadott Bay

This CJ can only be described one way. An absolutely stunning work of art. You have sculpted and painted the region of Caddot Bay beautifully. I am such a $%&^! with so much to learn. You give me something to aspire to. I will be following this to the end without a doubt.
  21. Shary Grove-My first CJ on Simtropolis

Looking great so far. I really like the port and the waterfall. Keep up the good work.
  22. Toronto

This will be cool to watch. Phenomenal Phreeways!! Acurate recreations just amaze me. Can't wait for more.
  23. The New Goldenrod Plains

Gonna be following this one for sure. I need the lessons. Looking good so far.
  24. Corrina Bay - Rock and Water

Really cool looking region. Can't wait to get that closer look at the city.
  25. help with photoshop

Date: 1/24/2006 5:03:19 PM Author:joeynymets ....Can anyone tell me where i can find a tutorial on how to do this? I thought I had done this by suggesting buying a book on how to use Photoshop. There are numerous websites that offer Photoshop tutorials and free textures as well. Do you have Google? I did a google search and found this site among many. Date: 1/28/2006 11:34:08 PM Author:haux Just downloaded Photoshop, huh? You do realize that that's illegal, right? An excellent point. I would not be announcing illegal downloads on any website. Not only because you could get busted, but because it irritates people that paid $900.00 to obtain the program legally.
