The plaza that never sleeps. Media Plaza is a one-of-a-kind information hub that doubles as an entertainment venue. Here, Sims can get the latest headlines, stock quotes, and much more. When the next big story breaks, the plaza will become destination-one. Of course, at Media Plaza, all stories are big. The distinct 4x4 plaza is surrounded by four massive walls of news and fun. Features include two jumbotrons, two screens (one for movies and silent films, and one for SCNN: SimCity News Network) whose size challenges IMAX, a giant bulletin board where the commercial district can advertise, food and drinks, wireless Net access, and Media Plaza's signature centerpiece sculpture. All of these attractions, along with a hypnotic evening light show famous throughout SimNation, make Media Plaza a treat for both citizens and tourists. -

Provides direction and orientation for Sims. You know which way is north, and now they can too using this floral compass as a navigational tool. Lit at night for beauty, and for stray aircraft. Navigarden is a 4x4 lot that functions as a Large Flower Garden, except that park and landmark effects are 50% higher. -

A recreational ground-level fountain. Aqua Plaza is a fun place to be on hot summer afternoons and evenings. Sims will enjoy playing in the fountain as well as watching the dancing water. Functions as a Large Plaza, but with a plop cost of 300 and monthly and bulldoze costs of 30. -

Building Log: World Trade Center (Pre-9/11)
BigMac replied to rubik3's topic in SC4 BAT & Lot Workshop
(Reposted from last page since I was apparently not logged in when I posted) I just got home from an eventful Friday night to see the lot has been released. I haven't been on as much lately, but my anticipation has not worn thin. rubik, all I can say at this late hour is congratulations on a job very well done, and it has truly been a pleasure working with you on this project. I'll still be around in case you need help for any updates. -

Here are two more night photos of the plaza provided by savethewtc and scanned from the book World Trade Center: Remembered. I checked the book out from my local library a few months ago, and the photos are incredible. http://mywebpage.netscape.com/savewtcgall/plaza1.jpg http://mywebpage.netscape.com/savewtcgall/plaza2.jpg -

Looking good; I hope you're feeling better. Here is a picture of the original 7-foot-tall model of the World Trade Center, which is now on display at the Skyscraper Museum in lower Manhattan, just a few blocks from Ground Zero. The trade center's architect, Minoru Yamasaki, is on the far right sitting down. Notice the earlier roof designs for 4-6. -

I see what you mean about the shadows; the brighter lighting may be preferable in that regard. Plus, we can probably assume that the lighting in general was somewhat brighter after the 1999 plaza renovations. -

I think you're right about it being a bit too bright; the original plaza was surprisingly dark. As it would seem based on the picture and other things I've heard, the Sphere had little lighting at night, and the brightest spots on the plaza at night were probably the ground in front of the towers (reflected from the lobby lighting) and the tops of the nine lampposts. -

rubik, savethewtc sent this picture to me today; one of the first and best night shots I've seen of the plaza so far. -

I have not heard anything else about the night lighting. However, once you release the trade center, if I or anyone else finds out anything you think is significant enough, would you release updated versions? Even after it is available for download, I can let you know if any new information comes to light. -

No further responses yet rubik, but I will be available if there is something you need in the meantime. Great work on Petronas as well! -

The ingame pictures looks great! I haven't yet received further responses on plaza lighting, but I'll keep checking. You might already be aware of the following, but just a reminder: the towers should touch but not cross over the invisible line that runs between them north to south (the towers touch the line at these points: north tower facing the plaza, and south tower facing the Marriott), but it looks like they do at the moment. Also, buildings 4 and 5 look to be misaligned at the plaza entrance. Also, I noticed that a user named whippled plagiarized Two World Trade with Jobs. Here is the link. -

Building Log: World Trade Center (Pre-9/11)
BigMac replied to rubik3's topic in SC4 BAT & Lot Workshop
I will post any input I receive. From savethewtc: I heard about the ongoing project and think it's amazing, especially how much detail and precision is going into the design of the complex. I'll search around and get back to you, the plaza's night lighting wasn't very bright, basically 4, 5, 6 were lit up, the fountain with the sphere in the middle had light, and both Tower's lobbies. I'll get back to you. -

I sent some requests on Skyscraper City for information on signs and night pictures, and am hoping to hear back soon; will let you know if I do. The night lighting looks very nice so far. -

No luck yet on nighttime images of the plaza, but I'll send out requests on Skyscraper City. Here is a picture of a sign for tower 2. I think the maroon-colored signs like this one were the most recent (compared to the older gray and red signs), so you can use this one if you want along with the texture you have already for tower 1 so the signs for 1 and 2 will be consistent.
