CoriBoom Cori's No Kickout Lower Wealth Mod - Now CAMpatible
The Magical Magpie replied to CorinaMarie's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
At this point, having removed every other file from my plugins except NKO and CAM and making sure that NKO was in its own folder that should load after CAM, I'm still having the same problem of R$$ kicking out my R$ sims. I don't understand what I'm looking at in Reader so I don't know how to proceed from there. I can see how to run it (and I could post screenshots, but to what end? It's not so much that I can't see which files the mods share [if that's what I'm supposed to be looking at?] it's that it doesn't seem to matter what's in my plugins folder: The two mods seem to be conflicting in some way). ETA (because at this point the string of replies is too long, IMO): When I remove the CAM files from the plugin folder, NKO works just fine. When I return them to the plugins folder, NKO no longer works. The conflict is definitely between these two plugins, but since I don't know how to interpret the data in Reader, I don't know how to find what's causing it :-/- 95 Replies

CoriBoom Cori's No Kickout Lower Wealth Mod - Now CAMpatible
The Magical Magpie replied to CorinaMarie's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
It turns out that putting the NKO mod into another folder did not help. I downloaded Reader and ran the Plugins tool, but I have absolutely no idea what's going on here. I'm in no way a coder/modder and I don't know what I'm looking at. The video doesn't help because I don't know what I'm looking at lol I don't have so many plugins that I can't go through [the folders] one by one and test. It's tedious, but it's the only way I know how to do this since the back end of things is entirely overwhelming for me.- 95 Replies

CoriBoom Cori's No Kickout Lower Wealth Mod - Now CAMpatible
The Magical Magpie replied to CorinaMarie's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
I posted about this in the comments on the download page but I thought it couldn't hurt to post it here, as well. (Okay, okay, I couldn't find this topic until I could.) I recently installed CAM after using NKO for a short time. I love the NKO mod and it has been a game-changer in terms of how I'm able to build larger cities with a large and thriving workforce. I love it. But when I installed CAM, it stopped working. It took me a couple of days to realize it because I had been carefully building a sprawling city of low-density low-wealth buildings while waiting to have enough of a surplus to build my first schools. I plopped a school into a thriving R$ neighborhood, gave the neighborhood a couple of parks because I was fighting demand caps and boom! hit with R$$ development kicking out R$ sims. In response to CB's question about thriving development, I had no abandonment in the neighborhood the R$$ were kicking out R$ sims. So I uninstalled CAM and I'm heartbroken because when I replicated the conditions for when the kick-outs occurred, no kick-outs without CAM installed. I tried removing every other mod before CAM and I had kick-outs happening with each of those. Removed CAM and no kickouts. The very first thing I tried was to add zzzzz_ to the beginning of the NKO mod to be absolutely sure it was the last mod to load and... that didn't work. Any advice? At this point, my absolute must-haves are NAM Lite, CAM, and NKO. My game is going to feel naked without any one of these three.- 95 Replies

CoriBoom Cori's No Kickout Lower Wealth Mod
The Magical Magpie commented on Cyclone Boom's file in Gameplay Mods
ETA: Having desperately hoped it was not the CAM interfering with the NKO mod, I tried every other mod until I was left with only one that could be interfering: CAM. I uninstalled it and NKO was back to working fine. I really hope I can get some help for this because now that I've played with both mods separately I don't want to play without either of them. The NKO mod has stopped working for me since installing the CAM. It's below CAM in my folder and I went so far as to add zzzzz_ to the beginning of it to make sure that it's loading last. Sims are still being kicked out of their R$ homes and upgrading to R$$. Any advice?- 14 Comments

Job Zots in Spite of Job Availability
The Magical Magpie replied to The Magical Magpie's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
This was it! Turns out that the intersection was also glitching (probably due to a rogue mod) and I deleted the intersection and redrew it and we're all good now! Thank you so much! -

Oh my gosh! I didn't even see that! I'll make sure it's connected and then see what happens. Thank you! I have a huge block of I-M in the connected city to the East. There's no demand for it in the city in the screenshots above, so it won't grow even if I zone for it. It's one of the things I made sure to provide for them (and why I switched City tiles to a connected city when demand in this city dropped unexpectedly). -
Job Zots in Spite of Job Availability

Is it me, or is this region tile bugged? I've now deleted it and restarted it twice. The second of those times I got repeated notifications that the landfill was full and the Sims were upset about it. Only the landfill was only about 1/3 full and not filling. On that file, I also noticed that I didn't seem to be earning money at the rate I would have expected based on development. It was quite strange, so I deleted the file and started a new file for that tile. Which is the current file, where I'm now having a different problem. Other tiles in this region are performing normally for me. The problem I'm having now is that many of my medium and high-density residences are complaining that there are no available jobs, which could mean that the commute is too long. Other, adjacent, squares/residences report short commute times. I've run rail through this city tile and into the next, which is exclusively dirty and manufacturing industry. An avenue also connects them. There are rail stations in both tiles -- probably to excess to make it easier for my sims haha. I've included some screenshots of the issue. Hopefully someone can advise me if I need to try to reinstall this region (which is just one I built but I'm pretty happy with it) and start my city tiles over again. As you can see, there's definitely some traffic problems but I wouldn't think the issues were so great as to prevent sims from moving to where the jobs are -- both on this tile (to the west) and on the next tile over (to the east). Is there something I'm missing here? -
Keeping Low Wealth Sims Employed
The Magical Magpie replied to The Magical Magpie's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
I think I actually knew this. Which means I forgot it at some point and when my R$ sims started to give me job zots, I panicked a little bit because I don't want I-D to take over the entire entire tile. Thank you so much for the numbers!- 2 Replies

Hi there! I'm a long-time browser but first-time poster (and just made my account so I can finally talk to all you lovely people!) I've been playing SimCity4 since the beginning, but I've never gotten great at it. (Admittedly I feel like this describes my relationship with almost all the city-builder games I play!) Recently I've been able to get some residential skyscrapers for the first time (yes, I'm a slow learner -- who loves parenthesis!). The problem has been keeping the R$ sims in my cities employed. Without letting I-D completely take over, my R$ sims wind up moving out (and that's not what I want, obviously). I'm using the NKO mod, which means that I'm able to position educational buildings within the vicinity of my R$ neighborhoods in order to build my R$$ and R$$$ neighborhoods. The side effect of this is that the R$ sims become educated, which drops the demand (region-wide) for I-D. Since CS$ buildings don't provide a lot of jobs, my R$ areas are either not developing or they are moving out as a result of not being able to find jobs in the home city tile or connected tiles. I've literally never made it this far in the game and I'm really happy with what I've been able to do and how much I'm (finally!) learning, but this one has me stumped. From what I've read in these forums, R$ is important to keeping a city (or region) going but I can't seem to keep them employed. Is the solution as simple as encouraging more R$$ into my city? (This has, so far, given me a host of other problems, such as the sheer number of slow-developing commercial lots in the city). I'm stumped! Any advice would be appreciated!
