  1. Colossus Addon Mod - CAM Controller

Hello! I've given SC4 another whirl after you updated CAM to 2.5.1 and then I decided to experiment on my city, regarding the education issue that was discussed previously. Since the theory was that age was supposedly negatively affecting the city's education, I demolished the city's hospital and waited to see what would happen. For this experiment, I built nothing (besides renewing dying power plants and whatnot) and did not make any new zones. I demolished the hospital, waited until Life Expectancy reset back to baseline and watched the effects on education. It took around 60 years for Life Expectancy to reach that level, and then I waited for 20 or so years to see what'd happen next. Here are the results: (Life Expectancy vs Education graphs, 100 year span) We can see that, as soon as Life Expectancy started to drop, Education climbed, albeit irregularly. The trend continued until Life Expectancy stabilized, of which Education (somewhat) stabilized as well. Therefore, I think it's safe to conclude that Life Expectancy affects Education negatively, where it will eventually stagnate at the 120 EQ level according to my city's full historical data: (Life Expectancy vs Education graphs, 500 year span) Even according to historical data, we can see that once Life Expectancy starts to increase, Education drops with a delay of a few years. Perhaps this is because once a population dies, it respawns at a too high age? Or maybe Libraries and Museums aren't enough to sustain education at a prolonged period of time? Either way, is there a possibility to use CAM without its education changes and therefore play the game with vanilla education settings, whilst the issue is being analyzed? Or, better yet, is there a better way in which I may be of better assistance so that this may be resolved in a future release? As always, keep up the great work! Cheers!

But the grade is 5/5, isn't that what's supposed to matter? Funding should only be a problem if the amount of students exceed the school's capacity, no? And yeah, you're right about the Limousine thing

I see. Also, as an edit* to my previous post, my city's education includes a Library and Museum too. I'd like to point out that my city is 224 years old by the way lol and its education eventually peaked at 170 quite early in its foundation. The educational system was full back then, which would explain the spike I believe. I've also checked the city's education by age graph (which is something I should've done from the beginning) and even then the education seems rather lackluster, with only the 11-30 cohorts reporting a value slightly above the 120 flatline. I've also taken a screenshot of my city's education coverage and levels vs residential average age if you need further data: Regarding the private school, yes I can see sense in that. Wouldn't it be fitting to reduce the costs, however, since the state is merely subsidizing the operation? As it stands, Private Schools cost the state $0.93 per student, whereas the fully state-funded Elementary School costs $0.45 and the High School stands at $0.64. I also find the "Local Limousine Funding" feature quite odd. If you need any more feedback to help you with this, feel free to let me know.

I have a few questions regarding the education system because I'm witnessing a weird behavior. All my cities eventually stagnate around the 120 EQ mark, even though my education is fully implemented, from Elementary to University. Then I've checked and noticed that CAM 2.5 uses an education simulator based on xBlaze89x's findings, which I assume to be from this post: Then, based on what was described there, I checked my city's population age and found that most of them are 40+ years old: Perhaps their age has something to do with the education flatlining? Also, is there a way to make private schools... private? Even though they're meant to be private, the city still has to fund them, which I find rather... awkward lol Anyhow, great work with the mod!

Damn! That was legit much quicker than I expected. I just tested it too and now it works just fine. Thank you very much!

As of CAM 2.5.0, I'm having a weird bug where Maxis utilities that were meant to be unlocked (eg. Nuclear Power Plant, High Density Schools, Chopper Police Station, etc) aren't actually unlocking even if I press "Accept" when prompted. Anyone else had this issue as well? Nevertheless, great mod and big props to the developers!
